2005 would be a fair guess for the year the show takes place in. If you remember the episode "Over The Top", in one scene, Mordecai and Rigby are playing a game with guitar shaped controllers, which is meant to be a clear reference to Guitar Hero, and the 1st Guitar Hero came out in 2005. Also, fun little fact, if you search up JG Quintel Guitar Hero, you;ll find a couple of old pictures of JG Quintel playing Guitar Hero.

@KingJadInfiniteHope I re-watched it all. If anything, the show begins early 2000s. If I remember correctly, Rigby is finishing high school in 2016. There was a pamphlet he had and im pretty sure it said 2016

Before regular show blew up, it was not broadcasted in Canada at all. I was told about it by a friend who went to the States frequently, and had to watch reuploads on RUclips (thank god rips were extremely common back then before monetization)
I actually didn't know about that. That's pretty interesting.
I hate how they changed the line “you pissed me off” to “you ticked me off” I would’ve thought that censorship would’ve been in this video

Something else to note about the Billy Mitchell thing...
In the episode, GBF tries to get a leg up on Mordecai and Rigby by cheating at an arcade game. That's the reason why Mitchell was so upset, because it portrayed HIM as a cheater at arcade games... which is true. If you do a bit of looking into him, you'll find out that he actually cheated some of, if not all of his high score records, including the infamous Donkey Kong arcade one. He's been VERY well known to sue people who talk about this incident, hence the lawsuit against CN. He's currently suing RUclipsr Karl Jobst... twice... for calling him out on his shit. What a guy.
Honestly though, Karl is doing an excellent job of roasting GBF.

I think ur spot on with the 2005 guess. My question is how time passes through the show. Ik that in either the 2nd to last or the last season of rs, internet/streaming tried to take over as the dominant video format, which in the real world happened in the early-mid 2010s. My guess is that the show starts at some point between 2000-02 and ends around 2012-14 if video format is the only way we can make a guess. But that would mean by the time the finale came out, mordo and rigs would have been in their 30s and after the time jump they’d be in their mid 50s so 🤷♂️💀. I think the show just aims to fit into late 90s and early 2000s nostalgia and we’re not supposed to think to deep ab it tbh

So one thing I don't think was mentioned was that Regular Show also had imo a really good game called Paintball War which was so much fun as a kid. Not sure if it exists anywhere but highly recommend it to anyone.

That show was a Mexican Cartoon Network show called Villanos which is pretty cool, and has a ton of cameos related to other CN shows. It’s kind of like the Villanos universe connects all the CN shows together. The guy in the clip who kills Mordo is called Black Hat, and he’s basically Satan.

On 3DS games based on movies/TV Shows: there’s also an Adventure Time game where Finn and Jake have to take back their garbage from Ice King. I haven’t played it in years but it was one of my favorite games on the 3DS and I was thinking about revisiting for nostalgia 😩I thought the world exploration and battles were pretty fun

I find it funny that on the part about the cheap toys the box advertises that it included high fives ghost but he’s not there and on the censors they also censored mordicai in another episode where he says “that’s it, you pissed me off” they changed it to ticked

I'm surprised you didn't bring up that the universe of the show is the show itself as demonstrated multiple times in the finale
I've read all the comics, the main ones were 40 issues long. Even all the side comics, was binge watching the whole show and decided to go for the 100% completion lol
I'd probably recommend just reading the 6 issue sequel comics to the show 25 years later tho

I want to type SO much more because iv watched this as a kid and I'm passionate about this show. Also because it kept me entertained as a kid is why I'm passionate. I just hate that it ended I truly do. I just don't understand why SO MANY people say "this show was my childhood." When the show stopped. Like how?? I thought It was popular? They had SO MUCH they could have written in the show and atleast made it to like 10 more seasons(honestly much more). I just hate something so good had to end. I'm 27 now and I'd LOVE to see a reboot or something to where it kinda picks up where it originally left off. But I know I'm asking to much.
Sometimes good things have to end. I wouldn't mind a continuation from where it left off. Who knows? Maybe one day we'll get some type of special.

Billy Mitchell was a fraud and his world record of Donkey Kong has been revoked since he was cheating. It was found that the machine he was playing on was not an original one and he got tons of people to lie for him to corroborate his story.
