This 16-Year-Old Ryu Player Challenged Me

- @paladin850 is definitely in the conversation for one of the best Ryu players in the world, even defeating Punk at the CPT East Online Premier this past year. He decided to challenge me to a set and I wanted to see how good he really is. First, we played a Ryu mirror match, and then one against my Juri.

Nephew telling him "that's random" every time he gets hit by the OS to annoy him is funny
what "OS" ???
@@Bboyduckoption select
OS means "option select" it refers to when someone uses one set of inputs to respond to multiple scenarios. In this case it is pretty common for players at a high level to input an invincible reversal during a button into drive rush. This is to option select between them doing a true block string of button, drive rush, button and throw (also will catch any attempt to steal frames with a fake block string). If they do button, drive rush, button then nothing come out, if they button drive rush throw they get hit with the reversal but they can call it out by doing button into blocking which obviously leads to a big punish. You can see this situation play out a few times during the games
@@mango2450
Yes, i know what does OS means , i created lot of them in previous games , i asked which one and you answer it
i thought you talk about something else because this OS is risky and japanese players stopped doing it because people start delaying buttons after DR ...
@@Bboyduck it is risky but if they start delaying buttons or not doing anything you can call them out and steal your turn back or hit them out of the startup of their move so it can be an effective way to make your opponent second guess their offense which is quite helpful with how strong button into drive rush pressure can be
This nephew guy should play professionally
Something something day job?
He does lol
@@iGuyaneseGamerdamn u right someone should’ve made a joke about that
Whole different game, bro. we'll never know how he'd actually perform on the big stage
nah. plays only cell saga characters
Neph’s deadpan “Ume” kills me every time.
those are just wake up shoryu
16:30 "Diago will never do that dp"
funniest part of the vid
Paladin seems to have a very good head on his shoulders, love his attitude. The future is bright for that young lad
Agreed. Really sharp guy, especially for a 16 years old
The trash talk alone make this a great vid. 😂
1:07
"Let's go"
*Tekken music*
*SF gameplay*
cause tekken ost better
@@zerevity007 I agree
My brain was so confused for a second
nephew only play street fighter so i need to bring tekken on one way or another hahahahha
Tamashii is better than all of SF6’s soundtrack minus Fête Foraine tbh
Facecams on the wrong sides had me questioning things for a minute there.
The Anthony Fantano bit LMAO a light 3 is brutal
Nephew taught him that Tatsu goes through Fireballs xD
Think he was being sarcastic, no way paladin didn't know that 😂
Well now Paladin knows so he can try it in ranked for the first time
“Watch me cook” proceeds to get cooked 😂 paladin is entertaining and definitely getting a follow from me
Street fighter with the tekken music. I like it
I was like wow Nephew is insane but then I realized the health bars werent tied to the sides of the cameras lol
Bruh i played him in ranked the other day and got cooked, he made it so hard to approach, it was insane.
2:40 “I held it” memories from Vietnam 😢😂
I remember matching up with Paladin in SFV often. Not sure if I ever beat him lol. IIRC, he rocked the golden knight armor Ryu
This definately shows the value of long set vs tournament set. If this was a tournament 2 outta 3 (not that Nephew and Paladin were playing with a tourney mindset fwiw) Paladin won. But in a long set like this where you can really learn your opponents tendencies (and let's face it, put him off his game with some strategic trash talk) you can really put your experience and skill into play. I would love to see this kind of format between top players in the future.
Similar to best of 5 between Broski and Mena where it looked like Luke was gonna sweep, then Broski ended up being the only person to threaten Mena that tournament lol
5:35 paladin saying “what the” 😂😂😂
The random logic battle was ❤
Angst, not eggs lmfao
still it was quite funny lol. neph had a "jesse what the fuck are you talking about" moment
6:26 "This game sucks" I didn't know you were playing iDom lol.
Hey! that Nephew kinda good.
nice to see neph playing with his big bro
Neph: "thats now fair cuz I dont know the optimal punish"
This is what I love to see
The glazing in the middle of the last game was kinda crazy
TARGET COMBOOOO
10:56 That was clean.
Bro is a few month younger than me. Idk how he is so good.
Hadoken came into existence. Lol. Paladin is a Christian, so he probably got a fireball out of it.
I don't get it 😂
Yeah I'm a Christian and I don't get this at all
Bro is on 3rd layer mixup with this joke and none of us have reached layer 1
Paladin: gets nephew ass whooped
nephew: That was random.
That was entertaining.
First time hearing about Paladin was SF6. Not sure what he was playing before but when I saw him play a few times I really liked his style of Ryu. Then I find out he is a for real YOUNGIN! Then I thought to myself, man I was never even close to this good when I was 16. I'm in my 40s bro. I wonder what was his path to his skill level and how his mind works. I'm always amazed at some of these young talents. Like when JAK was "Just a kid" lol.
Think about it. He only just recently got a job if he even has one, and he had plenty of time during COVID to grind Street Fighter all day everyday. When you were a kid, you had to go to an arcade to practice, and you didn't have online play like we do now, so you couldn't just sit at home for umpteen hours a day playing against people across the globe.
@@FringeSpectre HAHA. too true. I could only spend 5 dollars max at the arcade at that time. And the line was long with only 1 SF2 cabinet in a city where arcades werent plentiful. My competition were my cousins on Super Nintendo once a year lol.
Yakushima stage ost hit differents on SF
I wish you could swap heads on the skins in this game. I want bearded Ryu with the street clothes
Gotta mod bro
🐐
0:31: "today I've challenged Paladin first to a...."
*Looks at video title*...
OK, editor, what about those cam positions? Lol
"daigo would never do that DP" lol
Paladin plays on Hitbox, Control or Arcade Stick? :O
Paladin and Nephew, best duo ?
this nephew guy should try doing combo challenges on skullgirls
PALADIN
‘Target combo’
What controller does paladin uses?
After any random dp "Ume" :D
why is nephews name on the left but his cam on the right? its super confusing
nice
Nephew's 25 and I'm turning 50 in April.😮💨
How is everyone just throwing drive impacts now, is there a certain way to do it?
With Ryu. When you get a counter jab and DR into jab, jab, what button comes next? Is that back fierce?
If it is a regular counter its standing medium punch because you're +6, if its drive rush or punish counter you can go into back fierce because youre +8
@mango2450 thanks dude!
Paladin is 16?!!! O_O
I remember losing to his Ryu in 5 and it literally was all v trigger 😂. SMH
nephew should do trolling
Looks like they sit in the same room
Ill be back part 2 when?
These thumbnails LMFAO
Despite saying this is serious game, why I feel like watching a School friend asking the other one to come to their house to play a game together then get to that 1v1 game and start to trash talk each other like good old days
Nephew put his face under paladin to make us think he won. j/j
Anyway, here's a Hadouken.
Its confusing that your facecams are on the opposite sides of the screen to your ingame sides
I wish you put which ryu was which at the start of the video. I got confused withthe cameras. (Just saying so you or editor is aware)
Oh, in the health bars one says "You" and the other "Paladin".
Or you could just read the screen..
the problem is that nephew's facecam was on the right side... so if i flip the screen, it would be a problem, but going to look after that the next time!
Nephew you should really watch some of paladins replays back to learn how to play Ryu 😂
Both great players. Nephew throws too much. That’s random.
Your Ryu is looking like a 3 now….
Love the trash talk
If Nephews nick was To Pimp a Ryu he wouldve given he a 10 for sure
@@VitorCalixtroCant escape fantano brain rot 😢
@@chances3163 stronger than me im sorry
Aren't the cameras flipped? Why..?
Because of the angle. That way they're both looking at the center. But yeah, it feels weird with the characters switched.
@@Grayfox541You know, you can just mirror the image on each camera.....?
nephew's facecam was on the right side... so if i flip the image, the entire game would be flipped, and if i flip only the facecam, i would need to flip Paladin's too and put above nephews, and, as you can see, nephew facecam is rectangle and paladin is square shape... so unfortanely thats the way it is :(
why did you put the facecams on the wrong side of the screen?
Are people really this hung up on the face cams? Who cares? You can see who is who unless you can't read .
@@darrellwilliams1714 yeah but at that point you may as well just not include facecams at all
i just dont understand why they deliberately put them on the wrong side unless it was to troll or they realised they fucked up after exporting the video
nephew's facecam was on the right side... so if i flip the image, the entire game would be flipped, and if i flip only the facecam, i would need to flip Paladin's too and put above nephews, and, as you can see, nephew facecam is rectangle and paladin is square shape... so unfortanely thats the way it is :(

Using tekken music in a street fighter video has got to be illegal
not the teenage eggs lmao
why is there tekken music in this video
because sf6 music kinda mid
Idk why people say ryu is bad
He dumb good this year and he has a lot focused combos
He's not bad, but his normals feel really short compared to Deejay, Guile, Luke, Cammy, Chun... Etc
He's not bad, he's an aight character that's worse than more characters than better
He never thought of using Tatsu to go through fireballs? I mean it's been a thing since SF2.
I'm also surprised at how many raw supers and reversals Paladin throws. I mean, you bait out more than half of them, but still.
He was being sarcastic. Of course, he knows… 😂
Did Nephew go to school or was he just at arcades his entire life 🙄
Also does Paladin even go to school
I will never understand the FGC's obsession with mentioning the age of some players.
Because it's impressive that someone so young is that good? A 16 year old doing any esport would be applauded, hence bringing it up
You do to many hadokens , 10 mins later , maybe I should zone more
The guy who lost 10-2 has a lot to teach you huh?
don't cut matches please
paladin guy looks washed, just too old to compete
Arent you like 17 yourself ?
Humble remind that you are also a kid, Nephew.
So are we good to disrespect you because we are older than you? Not sure why this person being young is relevant one bit 😂
Nephew is in his 30s
Juri is lame
Your guys' generation looks older lol
Yall really just said f it and uploaded a video with the players on the wrong side of their respective characters. Crazy
Ryu is broken
i mean im in the minority in this but nobody will remember Paladin in about 2-3 yrs when he fizzles out the FGC dude is great online warrior but he doesn't pass the sniff test when it comes to tourney play and placement
He beat Punk and got top 8 at CPT with Ryu. He already passed the test while you're not.
@@thepuppetmaster9284 nah Paladin really dont got good fundementals hes an online warrior pro but tourney circuit nah he aint beating anyone serious you can tell Nephew is just playing casually here when Paladin played Endingwalker's Ryu dude couldnt tech a throw to save his life lost 5-1
😂 the jealousy! 😂 keep it up Paladin!
@@Gmork-pb9dl theres no jealousy i'd love to him to proove me wrong but I dont think he is the next best thing for america as far as players go competing I honestly think ppl sleep on JB alot now that dude in a couple years could really take his Rashid far dude has beaten both Kakeru and Punk in stacked tournaments before and hes young like 20 yrs old still
Street fighter with the tekken music. I like it
