I loved this ride! I think they should bring it back up dated. Maybe they could even add in some Marvel and Star Wars editions to it instead of tearing it down. I actually like Disney's Hollywood Studios better than Universal Studios.
I'm so sad that this got closed, but at least I got to be on that boat thing once! It was so fun, I got to do it with my dad and my sister. The first time we ever went to Disney World we went on this. It's a shame they shut it down. They had added a costume room and everything. I thought it was cool to see all the movie props and even get to hear about actual facts of the movies.
Adam the Woo spoke of this tour and was sad that they no longer had it. Glad you thought to film it before they shut it down. I never went on this back lot tour but did do the Universal Studios tour in California a few years back. I was tickled that they had Herbie on the back lot. My favorite little VW bug.
Damnit! Why is it that most of the rides I want to go on that are on my bucket list get shut down! Seriously this was one I wanted to go on, especially the JAWS ride at Universal Studios, Orlando...
AndersonPich Vs. Minecraft The Jaws ride was awesome at WDW. It used to have a ton of mechanical issues a nd I think it got old too so that's why they got rid of it
I remember walking through that little warehouse at the beginning and seeing the Tin Woodman from Return to Oz standing on a shelf. Probably one of the most exciting times for me at the park.
At the canyon scene, I remember when they use to pretend that it all wasn't suppose to be happening making it more thrilling. I use to actually think the truck would explode when I was little...
I remember going through the 5:00. I see/hear they changed the truck horn from what it was in 1990 lol. It used to be the old Vancouver Canucks goal horn they used to have in 90s
I miss the tram tour and was amazed when they got rid of it rather than upgrading it. I think that the land they are using for Star Wars should have been the expanded backlot tour expansion. But Disney seems to know what they are doing. It's just that the whole premise of the park is that its a studio so just like Epcot it is off message.
Very sad that the Studios never really got to produce much. Unfortunately the real Hollywood just didn't want to use the facilities despite all of the tax breaks and less expensive production costs. As a result the theme park took on a different image and the once Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Studios Tour became a shell of its original design and transformed over the years into what you just watched, as Disney's Hollywood Studios Backlot tour. I truly hope whatever is in store for the park's future can help return my once favorite WDW park, back to glory.
Fun fact: half of the trams actually came from a rival: Universal Studios Florida, who close down their own tram tour after only a few years in operation.
I rode this whenever I was five or four. I don’t remember much but I remember it being amazing. For so long I wanted to ride it again not knowing it was closed. This was also awhile ago but I could have sworn they had a new updated version. I didn’t remember seeing the tower and the stuff it showed was super boring. If I could go back in time to ride this again I would.
I remember back when I first rode it back in 1989. I saw the house from Golden Girls and I remember seeing different robot props like Vincent,Bob,and Maximillian from the Black Hole as well as Major Domo and I think Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.
They might as well call Disney World, Toddler World because eventually all the classic Disney rides will be removed and replaced by rides that are extremely baby-fied. I understand Disney has to change with the times but I thought Walt Disney intended for most of the attractions to cater to a general audience. Not just kids. Adults enjoy Disney World as well and should have attractions that cater to them too but at this rate, everything will turn into kiddie land. You can call me selfish all you want but the Disney company needs to understand that there are adults who enjoy Disney World as much as kids.
Thank god this ride closed its doors. I remembered riding this a few times in the late 2000's and early 2010's. I even remembered seeing the Invincible (2006) poster along the way. In a Tower of Terror 10k marathon, I ran past the costume department and recalled seeing the Saving Mr. Banks costumes.
+Dalina Hernandez Maelstrom is being replaced with a Frozen Movie Themes ride the backlot tour I'm not quite sure what's gonna replace it heard that disney is debating on either Frozen or bringing Carsland to WDW and if they made Cars Land at WDW great for me at least won't have to travel to the west coast to ride the Radiator Springs Racers
I'm going to miss this ride. All it needed were a few new scenes. A Pixar expansion is great though with maybe Monstropolis, more toy story and cars land. Nemo, Up and A bug's life belong to Animal Kingdom. Brave is magic kingdom and well Inside out and Wall-e are epcot. Incredibles could also be built with Metropolis and Syndrome's island, that could be cool.
Memories thanks for sharing I remember when this and Star Tours and Movie Ride was the only rides at (back when it opened it was called Disney MGM Studios) I have one question to ask why oh why Disney never ever created an attraction to the movie 'Flight of the Navigator' I loved that movie when I was kid and when you showed the ship sitting there I went crazy! ahhhh Memories! Thanks for video TPR!
I was in WDW the week of September 21-27 2014. I was in Hollywood Studios the 22 and 23, and this ride was already boarded up :( maybe it was open for one last ride when I was in Magic Kingdom.
0:16 My college friend and I got called up to participate in some kind of demonstration in the water tank. From what i remember it didn't look like this at the time. I was on some kind of boat bridge wearing a rain suit and the tank of water sprayed me and then I got to push a button and spray my friend on the battleship.
OMG...I participated in the water tank demonstration too! I was in the boat that got splashed...such great memories! I'm pissed that they got rid of this ride.
Wow they took this out too... really, I loved this ride especially since it had that awesome pre-ride Pearl Harbor Show that I always loved. Please Disney, don't turn into Universal Studios who do more Replacing and less just adding a new ride to a park without taking one down. I know some rides are really outdated but why cant they just update them at least (like Test Track at Epcot even though I don't like the updated version) its still better to do that.
I just went today and found out no more backlot tour ride. Very disappointing. Seems there taking my favorite rides away. Some rides are classics and shouldn't be destroyed.
I forget what they put in the area what used to be the Ninja Turtles stage show. Oh BTW I don't like the new name. They should have kept it MGM Studios
BLT is gonna be re-themed for more pixar attractions the front half of the park is goin to star wars but we could see indy stunt show and movie ride replaced with star wars attractions and really this is all happening because of universals harry potter attractions they are killing resort business right now so disney has to counteract somewhere unfortunately its gonna be at the cost of some classic attractions but most kids dont know most of the great movie ride scenes kids wanna see darth vader not herbie the love bug and indiana jones
I loved this ride and when I went back in December of 2014 I was devastated it was gone. Now I'm only 5% excited about the new lands. That 5% being toy story land but I don't really care for Star Wars.
Did they acknowledge at all that this was the last ride/show ever of the backlot tour? Sucks that they're taking this down, but I feel that it's about time!
Air Aero I think they're focusing more on Disney made movies, rather than making movies. While I absolutely loved this ride, it was starting to show its age... notice how they didn't have anyone on the pt boat during the boat attack scene, and it just became a ride to get away from the big crowds around tower of terror and rockin rollercoaster. I just wish they could've like moved this ride instead of demolishing it, along with lights motors action.
This better not be a frozen ride, in norway I get that but mgm no it has to be a big hero 6 ride or a planes mabye a cars those are some better choices if disney is reading this
Liked the Flight of the Navigator ship on the tour. What happened to the Street that had the Golden Girls house? I haven't been to MGM since 1993. I hope that Disney doesn't take out The Great Movie Ride next. Worse case it's turned into Pixar/Star Wars Great Movie Ride? LOL
this is a historic moment. let us remember this ride forever.
This was one of the only 2 things worth seeing at the Hollywood Studios along with the Great Movie Ride.
dvferyance what about tower of terror, rock n rollercoaster, and toy story?
excuse me? Tower of terror,Indiana Jones stunt spectacular, and Rock'in roller coaster.
@@kkoch4 I never really cared for the Indiana Jones thing and I am not a fan of roller coasters.
I loved this ride! I think they should bring it back up dated. Maybe they could even add in some Marvel and Star Wars editions to it instead of tearing it down. I actually like Disney's Hollywood Studios better than Universal Studios.

I've been on this and I'm DEVISTATED to see it go
You can still do this at Disney Land, Paris
AndersonPich Vs. Minecraft The Jaws ride was awesome at WDW. It used to have a ton of mechanical issues a nd I think it got old too so that's why they got rid of it
Original Test Track
Aww I loved this ride, especially walking through the prop building that was so awesome!
I think the backlot tour will be missed by many. I know I am going to miss seeing Herbie the Love Bug at Hollywood Studios.
I was lucky enought to be apart of the pre-show twice. So much fun :) I'm really going to miss this.
I miss this ride dam you Star Wars -_-
darth me2266 Its spelt D-A-M-N
darth me2266 You should really be saying damn you Toy Story Land
Maura Taboo or damn you Star Wars and Toy Story
Well the ride in galaxy edge was pretty awesome so I think it was worth it but idk cuz I’ve only ridden this like twice when I was young
I I never knew this ride closed down until now! I was really looking forward to riding it last time I went to Disney World in March!
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE TBING IN DISNEY EVER IM SO PISSED ITS BEING REPLACED BY TOYS LAND AND STAR WAS LAND
Tooooooo bad!!!
STAR WARS RULES
*starwars intensifies *
its nice, disney copied universal studios
I remember going through the 5:00. I see/hear they changed the truck horn from what it was in 1990 lol. It used to be the old Vancouver Canucks goal horn they used to have in 90s
I'm so glad I was able to go on this before it shut down! I wish this ride wasn't shut down...
I just realized how similar this was to Universal Studios’ backlot tour in Cali, right down to the disaster scene
yeah because disney copied universal
I miss the tram tour and was amazed when they got rid of it rather than upgrading it. I think that the land they are using for Star Wars should have been the expanded backlot tour expansion. But Disney seems to know what they are doing. It's just that the whole premise of the park is that its a studio so just like Epcot it is off message.
I loved riding backlot tour at Disney's Hollywood studios. RIP backlot tour.

C'est la vie...the writing was on the wall when they closed Residential Street.
At least you caught that mini-rainbow on film!
Shame this ride isn't here anymore
I feel like they should have closed it on its 30th anniversary, instead of its 25th.
I liked seeing the old relics
thats a bummer, that was one of my fav things at that park, again another good thing gone at disney
AMEN!!!!!
They have something like this at Walt Disney Studios in paris, Not as good, But it has the Fire thing with the truck and... stuff. :)
I wanted to go on the Jaws ride but I guess Im lucky enough to go through this before it shut down and it was so fun! D:
I rode this whenever I was five or four. I don’t remember much but I remember it being amazing. For so long I wanted to ride it again not knowing it was closed. Thanks for this. Miss this ride
My family and I rode this ride several times over the years, very sorry it is no longer there.
I rode Backlot Tours in 2003 it was so amazing im going to miss that attraction
Rip dean jones aka Jim
Reminds me of Universal Studios!
I loved this
I remember back when I first rode it back in 1989. I saw the house from Golden Girls and I remember seeing different robot props like Vincent,Bob,and Maximillian from the Black Hole as well as Major Domo and I think Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.
thank god I got to do that peril harbor thing , It was a lot of fun doing that

Preach it!! Preach the shit out of it!!!
It's like I've always said...Disney is NO place for children.
Obviously you didn't comprehend what I wrote Claude.

I remember this! I remember getting on that when I was 6
A great way to learn more information about disney shame its closed down:(
I was in WDW the week of September 21-27 2014. I was in Hollywood Studios the 22 and 23, and this ride was already boarded up :( maybe it was open for one last ride when I was in Magic Kingdom.

That battleship was right next to that clip but they didn't show it.
OMG...I participated in the water tank demonstration too! I was in the boat that got splashed...such great memories! I'm pissed that they got rid of this ride.
I miss this ride
i will always love this ride

Alright Word through the grapevine is that Cirque De Solei is coming to WDW in 2015 according to the WDW youtube advert I saw a few weeks ago!
I just went today and found out no more backlot tour ride. Very disappointing. Seems there taking my favorite rides away. Some rides are classics and shouldn't be destroyed.
I miss the backlot tour. R.I.P
Wish I got to go on this
14:10 That silver shell is from Flight Of The Navigator!
I forget what they put in the area what used to be the Ninja Turtles stage show. Oh BTW I don't like the new name. They should have kept it MGM Studios
I remember being the person in that thing getting the water dumped on me, it was my honeymoon. 2000.
The tram looked dirty. The front ones are new but? Bring new magic there Disney. #TPR
I GOT SO HAPPY WHEN I SEEN HERBIE But i got so sad when i heard it closed so ill never see him :c
Wow another ride disney has taken away. You know there going to replace it with frozen
What a shame, I loved this ride.
what a shame, disney copied
Herbie is still at backlot
I like how this entire tour is a lie. They dont film anything there.
They did at one point
If they were to update this, it would be an amazing attraction to bring back.
I'll miss that attraction. Sure, most of it was a promo for Micheal Bay's Pearl Harbor, but besides that, it was a good ride.
I'll miss it :(
What happened to the two Herbies?!?
No way???? They ended it??? That sucks!!! I did it last when it was MGM studios!
Wow! I never knew all of this about the movie making process. =O =D
I loved this ride shame there getting rid of it ☹️
I loved this ride and when I went back in December of 2014 I was devastated it was gone.
Now I'm only 5% excited about the new lands. That 5% being toy story land but I don't really care for Star Wars.
nope, i was LITERALLY the last person to ride it
I hope this ride comes back
I always thought the guy talking on the intercom sounded like the Portal 2 prerecorded message announcer.
I like to go here again
Looks cool! How does (or would) this compare to say... the tram tour at Universal Studios Hollywood?
Any reason why this closed?
Great video! Wow, so I'm guessing this ride was like the studio tour in Universal Hollywood, except not as good.
Let's go skateboards
Hopefully this is open by next week so I can ride it for the second time
That was the last time anyone got to go on it, didn't you read the title???
@@wedsies it was for the channel
Disney World is closing all the best rides!
im not suprised its gone. the tour was so short. time to upgrade like universal has done.
6:41 Herbie
hey dose anybody know what they are replacing the ride with?
+Ally Stroup From what I heard, either a Toy Story Land or a Star Wars Land, not sure which one though
Did they acknowledge at all that this was the last ride/show ever of the backlot tour? Sucks that they're taking this down, but I feel that it's about time!
Why is all the cool stuff gone once I find out about it?
I remember getting on this one, and it was one of my favorites. I hate it was removed ://
it's the new theme charge you more give you less. I'm sure this was a costly ride for them and it's all about the bottom line.
1:00 sneaky hidden mickey
14:08 Flight of the Navigator!
How come they are closing it down ?
The ride closed its doors to make way for Toy Story Land and Star Wars Galaxy Edge.
Alice Kingsley the park isn’t even movie-themed anymore....
Miss this! :(
Please Disney keep the props that all I ask
That was my first thought, too, when I heard they were closing it..):
Usually when they close stuff, Disney either keeps it somewhere for later or auction it off.
This can't be the last ride and it can't be closed either! I've gotta think of something to do!
It’s too bad that my coworkers are not going to have a chance to experience the same rides that I did
4:46
* windows Xp ear rape plays*
I’ve been on this in 2011!!!!!
This better not be a frozen ride, in norway I get that but mgm no it has to be a big hero 6 ride or a planes mabye a cars those are some better choices if disney is reading this
its closed??? WHATS!!! Ive been riding this ever since I was a baby :/ Why did they close it?
Did any filming ever take place @ MGM/DHS? I know USO was at one point a working movie studio, but Idk about DHS
why are they closing it!
LOL
Disney and Turner Classic Movies have plans to update The Great Movie Ride.
+Graphite42 the updated version actually just has the man from turner classics narrating it. You still have your driver thouh
Oof.
