What about Billy shouting at Gilbert, "Oh stop! I am a GOOD zombie!"
I immediately caught that as Billy repeating Max's words from the first film where Max told Allison, "No, stop. He's a GOOD zombie." It’s like an add-on or really more like a love letter. It makes sense to me for the changes they made. It’s very difficult for a movie to be classic in the timeless sense, to not have “dated” references etc. If you don’t like this film, it’s simple, don’t watch it. I felt like it had a younger more fun vibe. It’s not scary, it’s light hearted and funny. It gives DCOM vibes, more like Halloweentown. Overall, I liked it. We laughed and had a fun time. The “Ernie and Ice” reference from “the original film released in 1993, is my favorite because it was so funny that they got caught in the cages and they wouldn’t even have “Max Dennison” get them out having max take back his tennis shoes and they probably were the one who stole the candy from the one who recalled he saw the “Sanderson sisters “ on Halloween night 1993, when he referenced it in the 2022 sequel of “hocus pocus 2”!!!😊😊❤❤ pretty darkly funny and hilarious reference right there!!!😊😊

Hopefully they make it a trilogy. This film is the perfect set up for a final film and pretty much introduced the primary antagonist for the film: the witch that gave them the book in the first place. ThT way they can bring back the young version of the sisters and the rest of the original main cast.
Just have the original witch come back somehow and then these three girls need back so they summon the Sandersons who are bound to the actual witch in the group so they can’t harm anyone and so they help them out all the while Book tries to help release them for real. They momentarily break free from being bound to the young witch cause a little mayhem of their own and then they could basically put any ending they want. And yes I did use some ideas from unused scripts lol.

Actually when you think of it,it is implied that 'mother witch' is far more of an actual villian then the Sanderson sisters ever were. She outright hinted that she had eaten children before in 1653,and she might have been alive for centuries by doing such.
As far as we know the only true evil that the Sanderson sisters did is kill Emily Binx to restore their youth, and turn Thackery into a cat.
After that they were killed and remained dead for 300 yrs until 1993.They lived one night (halloween) and never managed to drain any children before they died again.
Same in 2022,they never killed anyone before dying the last time.
But apparently mother witch has actually lived through the past 350 plus years of time.
Imagine how many children she has to have killed in that time to stay alive for that long.
I think it would be great if for the third movie the new coven brought back the Sanderson sisters, but this time to aide in fighting mother witch.Gilbert can obviously help them with this task.
Also in the last movie they need to finally bring back an adult Dani,Max,and Allison.Max and Allison are likely married and have kids now.Their child being in danger of being consumed by mother witch could be a legit reason to have them join the fight.
And it might sound wierd but I could see them having Gilbert be Dani's love interest, seeing as they are around the same age and have a history with the Sanderson sisters.

If Mother Witch is an option for the villain for 3, I think that it should focus around her trying to rebuild her coven. It's my belief that when she warned the Sisters about the Maxima spell and to not cast it, it came from a place of personal experience. I think that she, too, did not understand the warning of using the spell and lost her own coven to the casting (much like what happened to Winnie).
Maybe the plot could be that she wants to remake her coven and goes about trying to recruit Becca and some new witchy character they choose to introduce. If the Sister's are to return, maybe they'll return as witchy guides to 2's protagonists and the trio will stand up to the Maxima powered M.W. and the newly introduced witch (who is being lied to or controlled by M.W.) and make things right.
