This song is for the "Young Guns II" film. It had Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Keifer Sutherland and Christian Slater. It's about Billy the Kid. My personal thoughts is I love both Young Guns movies and Emilio Estevez is friends with Jon Bon Jovi, which got him to do the songs and music for the second Young Guns movie. Also, Jon Bon Jovi was in the movie for about 1 second, he raised up out of a hole, which got shot and fell back into the hole.

Young Guns is one of those rare series where the sequel is of equal or better quality than the original. As short as Billy the Kid's life was, it sure as hell was eventful.

The most moving lines in this for me always were "I never drew first but I drew first blood" (you'll understand that line if you see the movie) and then "You ask if I'll grow to be a wise man, Well I ask if I'll grow old", "Let this boy die like a man" This entire album was awesome. Miracle and Bang a Drum are personal favorites. All the songs are based on a gunslinger point of view. Gotta think the movies were all about Billy the Kid and that life. So he writes like he's an outlaw type. You definitely should see Young Guns and YG II on your movie channel:)

"Blaze of Glory" (1990) was Bon Jovi's 5th and last #1 single on Billboard's Hot 100. Between 1984 to 2006, Bon Jovi charted 30 singles on the Hot 100, 20 in the Top 40, 11 in the Top 10 featuring 5 #1 singles ("You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer" (both 1986), "Bad Medicine" (1988), "I'll Be There For You," (1989) & "Blaze of Glory."
This single was credited to Jon Bon Jovi as a solo artist. It featured musicians Jeff Beck & Aldo Nova (guitars) and Randy Jackson (bass).
"Blaze of Glory" was nominated for a Best Original Song Academy Award but lost to "Sooner or Later" from "Dick Tracy" (composed by Stephen Sondheim, sung by Madonna).

The unplugged movement picked up so much speed after this that MTV started an entire series called "Unplugged." For many artists, it was a way to show you had made it. One, you had be a big enough hit that MTV would ask you to do it, and you then had to have some pretty good skill to sound decent doing an entire acoustic set. I still have my "KISS Unplugged" CD.

The instrument y’all say sounds like a door stopper is called a “Juice harp” or “jaw harp”. It’s a small metal instrument you hold against your lips and pluck a slender metal piece which gets its sound from the open air in the mouth combined with the metal piece vibrating to make that iconic sound.
Best way I know how to describe it.

I listened to that soundtrack for that whole week and by the time I got to go watch it, I stayed at the end of the movie so I could hear the song on the big screen. Still one of the best soundtracks and it still holds up to this day. Little known fact...JBJ had a VERY small role in the movie. (He was one of the men in the hole with Chavez and Doc) It was Jon's first movie role.

So he ended up writing an entire album for the sequel by himself. His most epic vocal performance is for the track "Santa Fe". So far, he has two solo albums. Bon Jovi's former lead guitarist & co-writing partner, Richie Sambora (he caught your ears in the "I'll Be There for You" video), also has a solo career. • @RetroClassic66
    @RetroClassic66 2 года назад +5

As mentioned in other comments, this song is from the 1990 movie YOUNG GUNS II, the sequel to the 1988 hit Western YOUNG GUNS. Both films are heavily fictionalized (but historically accurate in some respects) retellings of the Billy the Kid story and the Lincoln County War in New Mexico in the late 19th Century. Many of the characters in these films were actual people involved in the events depicted, although there’s a hefty amount of creative license taken with the facts in order to make it more entertaining. They’re both worthy films for your movie reaction channel to be sure.
I’m friends with John Fusco, the writer of both films, and as he’s told it, this song came about because they were interested in using Bon Jovi’s 1987 hit song “Wanted Dead or Alive” in the sequel. However, although the song definitely has a similar feeling to this one and is evocative of a Western, lyrically, it doesn’t fit the timeline of a Western, since it refers to a six-string guitar and a motorcycle among other things. So Jon Bon Jovi wrote this song instead, and appeared in a cameo in the film as an escaping prisoner (and onscreen he’s right next to the film’s screenplay writer, my friend John Fusco, who played another escaping prisoner). Jon ended up developing an entire album of similar tunes as a result (one of which appears in the film over the end credits, after this one), and released it around the same time the film came out. It was basically a solo project done shortly after Bon Jovi had completed an exhausting world tour in support of their 1988 album New Jersey. Instead of the other members of Bon Jovi, Jon employed session musicians, as well as played on it himself. He later returned to Bon Jovi, the band, and has continued on with them ever since.

And I'm getting scared that I'm going to start ripping things out of the wall and busting windows out 😂😂 You guys are Rockin everything I listen to growing up and both of you guys starts getting fired up then I have to really try to hold myself back cause I've been this wired my whole life when it comes to music especially Guitar Shredding and I have a reason for the Absolute Love of the Guitar. I have some very very talented musicians and singers in my family. I played guitar since I was 12 years old until I had a deer hunting accident in 1982 and the gun fell and discharged and it hit me in my right elbow and pretty much stopped my ability to play for a long time but I'm back at it a little bit now . Sorry about the history lesson but I just appreciate you guys for really having a gift and an ear for vocals and musicians. And Amber is my favorite Female Reactor hands down !!! I'm addicted to the Rob Squad Now and that's the best addiction I ever found ! Don't do drugs....Cold one if you like but the main thing in life is always be kind and generous to other people especially in this cruel world as it is now . And BTW SRV and Joe Bonamassa and Mr. Jeff Healey is my top 3 guitarist and that's my story and I'm sticking to it !

You have to do 'Santa Fe' now from the same album. It's Jon bon jovi's best solo song of all time. His voice was insane back then

I was at the premiere of Young Guns in my city with my sister. When this song played and one of the characters was shot I don't remember which one any more as it was too long ago, my sister stood up and said "No! He's too cute to die!"

Loved this song and “Blood Money” from the same soundtrack. As everyone else has mentioned, this is from Young Guns II and you should absolutely watch both I & II - they’d be perfect for your movie reaction channel.

The lyrics to "Blood Money" are amazing in its storytelling and visual. I'm curious to know just how closely Jon Bon Jovi worked with and had access to the script.

@@uclagymnastx-ing I believe he had a extra bit in the movie. His character was shot in the film. Like a 2 second scene.

Great reaction y’all!! This is the theme from a movie call Young Guns II. (Great movies I and II about Billy the kid and his gang of Regulators) Jon was on break from the band and heard about this movie with Emilio Esteves. Jon showed up on set and played this song for the producer and he loved it. He sat in a set diner with Emilio and wrote out these lyrics on a cocktail napkin! Emilio has them framed on his wall Cool story, huh? (Thank you songfacts..lol) Be well and God bless… from Texas!!

Your question about what's making the 'twang' sound, it's from a small instrument called a Jaw Harp aka mouth harp. The lamellophone instrument consists of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame. This tongue is placed in the performer’s mouth and plucked with the finger to produce a note.
