This blows me away a bit.
I've dealt with clinical depression/anxiety for decades, every morning particularly being a test of pushing through a wall of hopelessness & despair.
A while ago I went into ketosis to experiment with energy and get rid of excess body fat (which worked. -my energy has increased and my gut has finally disappeared while I'm gaining hard muscle). One side-effect was that 40 years of depression/anxiety evaporated. -vaporized. -disappeared.
This was unexpected. I then started looking into it and found countless testimonials of those who experienced the same phenomenon in ketosis.
And, again, this interview has finally addressed the morning dread that has mystified me for years. Thanks for this.

Thankfully I don’t have serious mental health conditions, ‘just’ common or garden anxiety with bouts of very low mood. I do suffer with waking up to severe dread/hopelessness/despair. It abates a bit once I’m up and about, and generally the evenings are tolerable. I’m convinced by the research these Doctors (and others) have done on the ketogenic diet and will give it a try 👍 So glad you’ve found relief from your depression 🙏 people who don’t suffer from it have no clue as to what it’s like to contend with on a daily basis and how hard it is just to get through the day.

How long were in ketosis before you saw this improvement? I've been on the diet 5 weeks and don't feel any better

Dr Ian Campbell - you’ve been a major inspiration for me on my journey to heal my mental illness. All these amazing doctors have helped with the science and others have helped with their story - you’re the combination of the two.

Personally I noticed a distinct benefit just living with a steady glucose level. Probably low level ketosis. Then if I want to be fully in ketosis I just make some proportion changes in my diet.
I have experienced freedom for medication as well as an energy level that keeps me strong even when working long days.
Learning about LCHF revitalized my practice as a family physician. Very multi factorial. Some days my patient successes make me feel high. They did the work and I am their happy coach.

I have a hipothesis about the beggining of simptoms in early adulthood. I believe it happens when we stop growing, so our body cannot “process” carbohidrates anymore. Does it make sense to you?

Levels team, please have a discussion on lactate, what results look like in results from common labs like Quest, what should be optimal levels, how fast levels can change, etc. Thanks for all these empowering education ❤ ❤❤

Does Levels data show any insight into ADHD stimulant mediations? I’ve been medicated for a very long time and it has greatly improved my quality of life, but I’m worried about long term effects. Am I at risk?

I first saw improvements in mental health while treating metabolic syndrome in individuals with significant psychiatric conditions. I was just trying to mitigate the adverse metabolic effects of the medication's they were on.
I think it is actually disingenuous on the part of practicing physicians to balk at a ketogenic diet because their patients already have metabolic syndrome.
It does take a primary care physician to manage the prescribing that must take place. If you have a therapy that is already mentioned by the American Heart Association (in fine print so to speak) then why should we wait for the psychiatric data to come in. I'm not saying don't do the studies but there's plenty of indication to get to work ASAP.

Particularly when meds with brutal side effects (including suicidality) are routinely prescribed off-label and in untested combinations. It is important to modulate meds while getting into ketosis -- it's like a dose change.

Bret scher was active on Dier Doctor channel but I suppose it was just to get folks to learn about keto diet. He hasn't uploaded any videos or podcasts lately.

Lactate and candida are also related. SSRIs are also antifungals. Why does going off my diet for 3 days bring back symptoms. That can’t be my mitochondria being affected so quickly.

This result suggests that inhibiting capsule formation could be a potential approach in preventing or treating fungal infections. The Kronstad lab had previously discovered that lithium inhibits capsule formation by C. neoformans, however, mechanistic insight into the mode-of-action of lithium was still missing, spawning the inspiration for Mayer’s latest paper.

Ive been on a ketogenic diet for 5 weeks now to try to treat my schizoaffective disorder. So far I feel zero improvement, though I understand 5 weeks is not that long.

a great deal of stress and its consequences is due to bad understanding models and metaphors, courtesy of shallow western myths and exoteric religious dogma...extensive jab schedules and plentiful pharma products are making things worse...ketogenic diets and amino acid therapies are promising...hfcs and over stimulated fructose pathways are causing neuro degeneration
