I learned a lot from this video. I agree with the other posts. Dr. Mike, please consider making some videos with inexperienced but dedicated subjects who are not huge, but willing to listen and execute to your directions to the letter. I haven’t seen many like that.
There's a few videos of an Asian kid that are amazing. He follows every instruction, his form is impeccable even to failure, he's attentive and appreciative and he clearly gets a helluva workout too. That kid was epic.
Doctor Mike, Discovered your channel a month ago. New lifter (5 months back after a 5 years of being a lazy POS) and while at first I was a little disappointed by the apparent lack of progression, since adopting your technique -- slow eccentric, pauses & squeezes, explosive concentrics -- progress has been noticeably faster. And not only is it faster, but before adopting this technique -- and adding free motion cable curls -- nothing was doing it for my biceps. Now I do these exact two exercises on my arm day and the difference in my bicep pump is incredible, and DOMS is very apparent for 1-2 days afterward. I don't need to read the papers to know this shit works. You just do it and you feel it. After a few weeks of it I feel I can visualize and feel the entire muscle contracting and reaching its limit. Great shit man, thank you for this information. Fuck music, fuck podcasts, I just repeat this mantra in my head at the gym: "Full range of motion, slow eccentric pauses, explosive concentric, squeeze at the top, last rep as if I'll do another."
This man is running on pure diesel and not much else. He's so inexperienced with proper form that it's staggering. Really shows how important it is to keep your head down, train-eat-sleep properly, and NOT GO ON GEAR!
@@Schacal6666 well he’s wasted would could of been a great training session. That was up there with the worst videos I’ve watched. It wasn’t entertaining at all
I mean this with no disrespect: I now understand what Jared means when he says that a lot of the pros don't actually train that hard. I think a lot of us science based nerd twigs might actually be going closer to failure than some of the monsters that step on stage.
Unfortunately, training to failure is typically not as effective as RIR with more times a week training. The app showed 2RIR as the goal, and drop sets to failure aren’t that. This was part for the video, and part a once a week training. Note: killing your arms like this can stunt other exercises in following days. This has to be done in a planned way
It’s not as black or white as that. You can absolutely train to failure often and frequently as long as your volume within one session is kept relatively low. It also varies from muscle to muscle as the biceps for example recover rather quickly for most people. If you’re not training them more than twice a week, it wouldn’t be a problem to go this hard either because with smart arranging of your sessions you’ll still likely have enough time to recover.
@@justincain2702 Typically with smaller muscle or "accessory" exercises, they DO go closer to failure. Even with legs, Dr Mike makes every person fall on the floor.
I know he’s not used to this style of training, but it just goes to show, with genetics and drugs, you can get huge doing really crappy reps. Edit: I am not supporting crappy rep training…I’m subscribed to RP for a reason. All I’m saying is, most people should be doing “good” reps because we aren’t blessed with genetics that will let us get away with be sloppy. Plus I’m not trying to get hurt.
This is what people need to understand. Optimal training only gives marginal, if any, benefits compared to fast, ‘gymbro’ reps. At the end of the day it’s all about if you’re sleeping well or not, eating sufficiently and getting stronger on your preferred lifts. Form really doesn’t matter that much.
Definitely an eye opener, dude is juiced to gills and yoked but is seriously a bro lifter, just trying to bounce around heavy weights. Clearly the combo works for him
Yes because technique is a very small part of the hypertrophy equation. Important, worthwhile, but not necessarily going to hold you back alone (unless you injure yourself) if you have the genetics, recovery, diet, all in check, and then on top of that you are enhanced. Having good technique doesn't mean you get big, having good technique means your more resilient to injury, and marginally you might have a small improvement in hypertrophy.
So weird how he just had to be able to see himself in the mirror, almost like he was legitimately worried that he might not be looking big enough on camera if he didn’t pose and angle just right (which I realize is his whole schtick but seems like it might be based in/feeds into real body dysmorphia).
Dude is just blessed with genetics to grow with a ton of gear. Bothers me that I train this way every session and he can’t even handle 2 exercises being that big
Yep. Dude is nothing but a walking contradiction. Juicing himself to an early death, doing things the easiest way possible, looks massive and tough, but he's too soft to endure a burn in his biceps. "Me lift big waytes and take bigg geer."
THESE COMMENTS HAVE ME PREPPED FOR THIS VIDEO LMAO Edit: these comments weren't wrong lol and the fact this was edited. The patience of dr mike is crazy
I actually really appreciate this video. For what it's worth, seeing someone with that much muscle be challenged at 20lbs cable curls all because of clever technique is really inspiring. It affirms the concept that with good form and proper effort, you don't need that much crazy equipment, weight, and joint pain to get a pump that can make a pro bodybuilder blush.
Just goes to show how truly humbling it is to perfect good form. I always did my best to be team full ROM, but incorporating the slow eccentric with a big pause at the bottom has been a game changer
And it's not like they're asking the goober to map a genome either. "Slow".......goes the exact same speed. "Full stretch".......replicates his last rep perfectly. "Keep going"........doesn't.
Thank you for this video. The fact i can do more reps and same if not tad more weight when i doesn't have the physical appearance yet makes me proud i find this channel. Bigger doesn't mean smarter. Just means he's targeting the specific muscle but this video is an example of what (hypertrophy, eccentric and stretching gives you way more physical strength than appearing strength.
I love these videos, I was training with myorep match for years and never knew their was a name for it. I love to train this way. So much tougher with great results.
When you train a certain way for decades, doing something new like RP training can become hard. This slow thing is a cultural shock for a lot of lifters.
That was tough to watch, as he just wasn't following the simple instructions and just acted as if he knew better and can do whatever he wants. I doubt he'll actually do the myoreps in his own training. He might do his own version of them, but they definitely won't be proper form. Well done to Mike and Jared for their patience with this guy.
The thing is, he can do whatever he wants ELSEWHERE. He could have cancelled the shoot. He could have not gone. He could have lied. He could have invented an excuse. He could have executed poorly and asked if he's doing it well or not. The only thing he shouldn't do is what he did.
I’ve heard Mike say that girls listen better, have better form and train harder but I am seeing it real time right now and am Baffled at how much better they are! This was an educational reality check but being back Dr Christel. She smokes this guy.
We’ve seen RP bring on guys who are great listeners and can follow instructions so I do personally believe it was just too do with the client and not genders
Mike specifically said women follow training and advice better and are able to crank more sets. Then specifically says that is typically due to not training as hard.
Big props to you both for guiding as best you can 😂 this reminds me of training certain children that haven't engaged in hard sport/lack kinaesthetic awareness, oh and the ability to listen for 3 seconds🤦♂️. Just goes to show that genetics, consistency & drugs are the 3 great equalisers🙏
I appreciate when guys take the RP training style at least as a challenge and try their best to see what its all about even if they still prefer to train differently alone. This proves if you're gifted and medicated you can get huge with a shit mindset and rpe2 sets. i feel like i'm watching a gym coach talk to a 12 year old who doesn't feel like running any more laps.
At the gym today I felt like my arms were looking really small. So you guys really choose the perfect time to drop this to batter my self confidence. Thanks!
It’s kinda proof that you don’t. You just have to blast gear and have great genetics. Though imagine what someone with an actual work ethic could do with the same advantages.
This dude does NOT have great genetics. Look at his stage shots. There's a reason he never went pro, not even close. You can grow on anabolics without touching a single weight, they optimize anabolism. That's what they were originally invented for, not for growing muscle. What induces hypertrophy is stressing muscles. Combined anabolics with poor technique will make anyone grow as long as muscle gets worked. There's a reason he has overdeveloped arms and shoulders and not chest, back or legs.
He'll literally never train like this again, that was a tough watch.
The oddest thing for me was he seemed unaware of his own body; full stretch, go slow, and he vamps on half reps.

4 mins in and I had to run to the comments. The comments did not disappoint 😂😂🍿
i was watching it on my tv and literally just turned my phone on to open the comments😂 for sure the worst guy they’ve had on here
the video made me cringe and sad :( i have to admit the comments didn't help at all, i'm still dying from cringe
Haha same, im at 4:13 and had to pause and check in with the comments section whilst thinking "big lazy meathead"
I was gonna say he looks like a jacked Bert Kreischer and seeing him train, he acts like him as well.
I thought the same!
Why is this guy getting this gassed doing curls without even hitting failure. Dude is going to die soon from whatever he is blasting.
Sad to see really. All that muscle and no fitness
I guess his heart can't handle all that mass, I really doubt that this dude is healthy
I thought the same thing!
He’s like 350lbs and has been blasting for over 20smth years it’s a miracle he’s alive
ye
What a blessing to be able to train with Mike. Id give my full attention and 1000% effort. Also love you calling him out on them 1/2 reps.
100% If Mike says "One more", I'll fucking kill myself trying to get one more!
You know the sleep apnea and tren dosage is high when you're this out of it
He thought he could outtren the sleep apnea
Doctor Mike,
Discovered your channel a month ago.
Fuck music, fuck podcasts, I just repeat this mantra in my head at the gym:
"Full range of motion, slow eccentric pauses, explosive concentric, squeeze at the top, last rep as if I'll do another."
I wish this man the best, hope he will focus on his health ASAP
This man is running on pure diesel and not much else. He's so inexperienced with proper form that it's staggering. Really shows how important it is to keep your head down, train-eat-sleep properly, and NOT GO ON GEAR!
Dr Mike: Slowwwww eccentric
This guy: ah so faster than the speed of light, got it
much more efficient than the 8 hour arm day
lol
But not nearly as good looking. Even though I really prefere a higher bodyfat percentage
🤣
"I would definitely do this again" - my guy will never train like this again in his life
He probably took a week to deload after it lol

@@Schacal6666i’m convinced you’re the guy in the video on an alt account, trying to defend this embarrassing performance
💉
@@FilmFlam-8008 They've covered this. These videos aren't how they usually train.
Probably a fuckton of drugs. I don't think you can get that big without straight up taking tren as a breakfast.
IMO it’s more about strengthening through the full rom for injury prevention than it is about making noticeable gains based on form.
genetics is everything, technique autism is a cope
@@cenkarson777 you are spitting straight bullshit
Came for the RP content, stayed for the comments 😂
His arms are crazy, imagine how astronomically insane they would be if he was training this way more often
Definitely an eye opener, dude is juiced to gills and yoked but is seriously a bro lifter, just trying to bounce around heavy weights. Clearly the combo works for him
As a late beginner/early intermediate with a "Harry Potter physique", watching someone this big with significantly worse technique than me is surreal.
He's blasting so much gear he will die at 40, don't worry about his size. Guy is an absolute nob
Same
Yeah same it's really disheartening
Yes because technique is a very small part of the hypertrophy equation. Important, worthwhile, but not necessarily going to hold you back alone (unless you injure yourself) if you have the genetics, recovery, diet, all in check, and then on top of that you are enhanced. Having good technique doesn't mean you get big, having good technique means your more resilient to injury, and marginally you might have a small improvement in hypertrophy.
Plenty of chicks prefer to bang Harry Potter type fellas over massive rectangular humans like this guy broski🤌💯
big boy's heart was working harder than him
Your biceps/triceps workouts are the best. The pumps and gains i am getting are insane
A lot of comments are saying this is hard to watch but honestly I like seeing someone who doesn't want to do the training do the training
he's done more flexing in the mirror than actual training. What a hard watch
So weird how he just had to be able to see himself in the mirror, almost like he was legitimately worried that he might not be looking big enough on camera if he didn’t pose and angle just right (which I realize is his whole schtick but seems like it might be based in/feeds into real body dysmorphia).
Body dysmorphia and narcissist personality

Dude is just blessed with genetics to grow with a ton of gear. Bothers me that I train this way every session and he can’t even handle 2 exercises being that big
Genetics are always unfair.... then add the gear on top.
Well there's also the fact that you can do what you're adapted to... if you routinely work through stretched movements will do better at those lol
B7t he has bladtedvthe little bit of brain he had left away too. Not a lot of lights on in this one
Yep. Dude is nothing but a walking contradiction. Juicing himself to an early death, doing things the easiest way possible, looks massive and tough, but he's too soft to endure a burn in his biceps. "Me lift big waytes and take bigg geer."

THESE COMMENTS HAVE ME PREPPED FOR THIS VIDEO LMAO
Edit: these comments weren't wrong lol and the fact this was edited. The patience of dr mike is crazy

I didn’t even think about that… this is the USEABLE CONTENT AFTER EDITING holy sh*t…
Oh god! I'm up to the ez-bar curls. What an absolute gronk of a human. Like the smoothest of brain on this lad.
It also shows that training with "perfect form" really only leads to marginal improvements/benefits. He still got huge with shitty form lol
@@TheCooPeer Had some "help" as well.
@@TheCooPeer It shows the opposite...you really want to end up like this guy, big no functional strength or endurance? What's the point?
@@TheCooPeerHe 'got huge' with gear. He admitted he had never worked like that before.
I love when I saw the comment section and how everyone is talking about the same thing that I thought - how dump the guy's behaving
Just goes to show how truly humbling it is to perfect good form. I always did my best to be team full ROM, but incorporating the slow eccentric with a big pause at the bottom has been a game changer
damn he was so unwilling 😂
My neighbor's wife is more willing than this guy! 🤣🤣🤣
This is the first video where someone can't comprehend the instructions, mental
And it's not like they're asking the goober to map a genome either. "Slow".......goes the exact same speed. "Full stretch".......replicates his last rep perfectly. "Keep going"........doesn't.
I have a feeling this was meant to be like a 25 minute video, but that guy quit way too early.
Extremely legit comment right here! Yup. Agreed 100 percent
LOL so in another words - training hard is a shock to a lot of lifters?
@@vladislavhosek1383 Slow eccentric is not the only way to train hard.
Exactly, the clowns in these comments forgot about common sense
@vladislavhosek1383 In other words, any time we introduce a different type of stimulus its a shock to our bodies and is especially difficult at first.
Dr. Mike's reaction to him asking to switch to the mirror side was priceless..(thinks about arguing).. It better be good technique.🤣
Thank you so much for this !!!!!
Now I understand why child protective services havent taken Jerry away. You are a very fit and patient parent.
I’ve heard Mike say that girls listen better, have better form and train harder but I am seeing it real time right now and am
Baffled at how much better they are! This was an educational reality check but being back Dr Christel. She smokes this guy.
We’ve seen RP bring on guys who are great listeners and can follow instructions so I do personally believe it was just too do with the client and not genders
Girls take instructions better, boys figure things out on their own better.
Mike specifically said women follow training and advice better and are able to crank more sets. Then specifically says that is typically due to not training as hard.
@@austinkesler4493 He said that they do more sets because they dont go rpe 10 ?
@@stratos59 I don’t recognize the rpe acronym?
Big props to you both for guiding as best you can 😂 this reminds me of training certain children that haven't engaged in hard sport/lack kinaesthetic awareness, oh and the ability to listen for 3 seconds🤦♂️. Just goes to show that genetics, consistency & drugs are the 3 great equalisers🙏
I got secondhand embarrassment from watching this
why lmao, he surely doesnt want to increase his muscle motor unit recruitment and align with those vector angles
This guy is 99% gear. No heart, no fire, just a big roid head.
This guy was a lot of fun
I appreciate when guys take the RP training style at least as a challenge and try their best to see what its all about even if they still prefer to train differently alone. This proves if you're gifted and medicated you can get huge with a shit mindset and rpe2 sets. i feel like i'm watching a gym coach talk to a 12 year old who doesn't feel like running any more laps.
This guy must be used to doing the full body swing curls for 2 sets and calling it a day.
The biggest lesson I've learned from Dr Mike and this channel is essentially to take your time on your reps
Mike kept trying to get this man to go "slow", and he was done with the movement before he could even finish saying the word
this was so funny, i watched it twice
Imagine how big he’d be if he actually trained like Mike instructs
that's going too far i think he'd explode, imagine if he managed to do 1 set to failure every couple of weeks
He would need 1% of the gear
That's an interesting thought. I'm not sure!
The same size or maybe smaller.
Craiggolias is the Tommy Wiseau of Fitness, even the final laugh was priceless.
At the gym today I felt like my arms were looking really small. So you guys really choose the perfect time to drop this to batter my self confidence. Thanks!
Hell yeah get it bro💪🏽🔥
You probably train harder than this guy lol.
Seeing a guy that big be so mentally weak should make you give yourself a little respect just for grinding.
This guy isn't healthy, nor aesthetic 😂 You're doing fine
I'm a fairly new follower of this channel and I didn't imagine I'd be obsessed. I've been so lame at this cable curl Thank you!🥳
Always remember this: some people are so genetically gifted (and on so much gear) that they succeed in spite of their training, not because of it.
This is why you need to master technique and form before everything else😅looks like he just started with the juice first.
It’s kinda proof that you don’t. You just have to blast gear and have great genetics. Though imagine what someone with an actual work ethic could do with the same advantages.
@@killxswitch Nah nah, this is not the goal. You really want to end up like this guy?
@@killxswitch nah, mate. This proves that gear can work. Which we know it does. So...
@@SeuOu Not at all. I'll never get on gear. Clearly it's powerful but the downsides are too much.
