Rome 2 was more about the growth of tribes rather than the struggles of great states, and as someone playing the game, you were doing things through a lot of intrigue and politics, so if you even look at the trailer, it seems more emotional satisfaction than war
@@executeorder6559 4000+ hrs in Rome 2, 2000 hrs in Warhammer 1 and 2, 23 hrs in Attila. I didn't like it either, but this is the only game in the TW series where steppe hordes implemented well. In TW Rome 2 there is no steppe hordes, but there is many Eastern faction with very strong cavalry, but they are not mongols at all. Try Total War Warhammer and play as Chaos which have exactly the same mechanics as steppe tribes.

Punkfuk Although they could now a days with the graphics they don’t Prefer Making WW2 games because of the concept, they prefer making Games from history’s with weapons because Guns kinda boring and doubt any strategy in them They made Nepoleam (srry forgot name) because the guns went really automatic as in ww2 and I doubt they can add tanks in it.
Completely different battles, I don't think ww2+ would work with total war's theme, as war drastically changes from ww1 onward( yes, war, war changes.) In a game point of view, you can take a look at paradox's grand strategy games, all use a stacked armies line combat system akin to the ages they are set in...excluding hoi4, where combat is more maleable and focused on large scale frontlines instead of singular battles, singular battles being the focus of total war.

Total War: Attila. In Attila there is bunch of steppe faction with strong cavalry such as Hunns horde.
