Sounds like you are using a Windows computer. Probably need to get a computer with low DPC latency or the right audio interface to pair up with your controller. This is one reason I moved over to Apple for music.
An oxygen pro mini 32 with better features...the oxygen pro works ok with mpc this will be better..the pads on the ox are sensitive even with adjustments I'm gonna get a 61 key and call it a day.
Man I feel like I was at gunpoint being forced to buy this thing just because I want 3 octaves. Arturia's offering is not for me. What's with all the 25 key models polluting the market? Twisted trend IMO.
Wheels, no touch strips 3 octaves endless encoders enough buttons to map things to I think the only contender is Novation launchkey 37 they were clever enough to make the akai slightly cheaper. it has a joystick, probably the pads are better for percussion on the akai. I would've gotten the oxygen pro mini if it had 3 octaves. it has 2.5 and starts on G ... facepalm
This isn't better than the Arturia Minilab 3. Akai needs to release a new line MPK units. I understand all their mpk mini stuff. But advanced midi controllers are in high demand. They should bring them back out.
Mini be just too long to easily put in a normal back pack and of course it Akai so famous for not listening to customer feedback and ignoring issues… but I think at the moment it’s probably the best out there

Yeah but I made that comment before I watched the video I actually have one being shipped because they didn't have any in stock this thing's really great I didn't know you could use the step sequence or without touching the mouse or the computer it just would have been perfect if they just would have added 16 pads instead of eight for when you're playing chords and whatnot yes love all the videos you got Ave !!
YEA I got the mini plus coming in by nov 27th? great affordable ,,still wished we coulda got the 16 pads ,, unfortunately I have the old akai mp49 the one with only I pads ,, as soon as I bought it they made the new one a month after! When I 1st saw this video I didn't have a 16 pad controller,, I was using the mpk mini,, But I did cop a mpd218 with the 16 pads and I love it ,,hope to use them both together when the mini plus comes in. I would get some new hardware but rite now I'm working on a new lab top$$$$,, great info you put out ,,helps so much!!
Seems like a great controller I just wish AKAI would stop adding red accents to everything, it’s super tacky and dated looking. For many I’m sure it doesn’t matter but I have to like the way shit looks in addition to its functionality.
I'll tell you the MAJOR problem with these is that the keys are all one piece of molded plastic for each octave and when you press keys they just bend at the point of connection like you are bending one tooth of a comb. If a key breaks off at the bend point 53 weeks after buying, akai will tell you the keyboard is "NON-REPAIRABLE" and you are out of luck the whole thing goes in the garbage and Akai won't care. So Akai is lying to you. Because nowhere on the box does it reveal that this keyboard is actually disposable. Oh and if you think you can just fix a broken key yourself with some kind of glue or plastic welding forget it with this type of plastic. And the shop won't be able to help either. The keyboard will literally be garbage if a key breaks off. Look online dozens of inquiries and pictures of broken keys and what to do. Reiterating. No parts! No way to repair. You are done
Buying a warranty from sweetwater, zzounds, etc. solves that issue. I’ve never had a good experience with manufacturers 😂. They don’t have the resources to support that. However, I have several MPKs and they get plenty use. Haven’t experienced the keys breaking on the current gen MPKs. Those old ones were terrible and Akai fixed that issue (hence why I pointed out the new Keybed)
I dig the overall vibe but like ALL Akai stuff-- they still missed the mark, insanely. Cons: - one bank of encoders. They could easily have added a Knob Bank A/B button. Earlier versions of the MPKs had this. MPD218 has had 3 encoder banks since it was released in 2015. - in MPC Beats, the bottom row of encoders map the SECOND row of Q-Links. The top row of encoders map the FIRST (bottom) row of Q-Links. This was an issue with MPC Studio Black as well, and other stuff. Why did they blatantly ignore this? Makes no sense at all. - No ability to change the pad sensitivity or threshold, in the Editor or in the Global settings. - Transport relies on scripts for DAWs. You can't simply map the buttons to what you want (generic CC#). That's annoying. - Can't record longer (tied) notes on the keys, even on the latest (1.13) firmware. You can edit ties in, but can't record them live. Keystep 37 destroys, in this way. I like it, but again, like all Akai stuff-- major oversights on several things that they could easily fix.
This keyboard is sht! It's controls do not work unless you map each of them and it's a lot of work. It's probably best to map to Sub mixes and save the template for the future. Save your money and buy a synth with keys instead. That way you at least get internal sounds. Then you can map it just the same as this POS MPK. No difference.
Give me suggestion for video content using the MPK Mini Plus!!!
How about making synthwave songs using the microfreak/minifreak, mini plus, and mpc one? It could be another genre but mini plus and mpc one combo.

I have too many Midi keyboards in the house at this point. 6 I think. Gotta get that number down. Its 7, the number is 7.
An oxygen pro mini 32 with better features...the oxygen pro works ok with mpc this will be better..the pads on the ox are sensitive even with adjustments
I'm gonna get a 61 key and call it a day.
The Key 61 is dope
Man I feel like I was at gunpoint being forced to buy this thing just because I want 3 octaves. Arturia's offering is not for me. What's with all the 25 key models polluting the market? Twisted trend IMO.
Wheels, no touch strips
3 octaves
endless encoders
enough buttons to map things to
I think the only contender is Novation launchkey 37
they were clever enough to make the akai slightly cheaper. it has a joystick, probably the pads are better for percussion on the akai.
I would've gotten the oxygen pro mini if it had 3 octaves. it has 2.5 and starts on G ... facepalm
Give me a new MPD Akai ... and for this keyboard why don't they add a undo button
😂I wouldn’t mind that either
Cause they skimped on transport controls. Doesn't have a quantize button either
You can use the joystick for undo redo or other things like scrolling banks etc
The answer is yes.
Yo this is the midi controller
lol
Bruh I just bought the mk3 yesterday and this comes out
Return it and get the plus
This isn't better than the Arturia Minilab 3. Akai needs to release a new line MPK units. I understand all their mpk mini stuff. But advanced midi controllers are in high demand. They should bring them back out.
I just got the Minilab 3 today. So, we'll see.
@@AveMcree update.... I was wrong. MPC One/MPK Mini Plus is.... perfection.
Mini be just too long to easily put in a normal back pack and of course it Akai so famous for not listening to customer feedback and ignoring issues… but I think at the moment it’s probably the best out there
Bro its funny I don't understand how to use the akai equipment I have and now I want the plus I have mpk3 mpk play studio 2 mpc live 2 WTH 🤷🏽♂️ dont really understand the shit 🤦🏽♂️
bro take some time one day to sit down and really learn your gear. Especially the mpc that is a nice piece of equipment
I used to be like that... gotta check out Akai MPC Academy on RUclips! I be killing my MPC Key 61 ond the MPC One now and it doesn't take long to watch them like 3 min videos!
Yeah thats what I been doin but im just more of a hands on person if I can find someone to show me ill catch on better but thanks for the reply bro appreciate it🎼🙏💪🏽
I recommend taking some time to study your gear
Yea but we need 16 pads!
That would look gross in this form factor but a new MPK49? 👍🏾
I have the old moo 49 the one with 8 pads! A month after I bought it ,,they came out with the new one with 16 pads!
I just bought the Roland J-6.....welp time to grab my wallet! 🤣
That's a bomb azz MIDI controller to be honest
Cons:
- one bank of encoders.
If they come with one with sounds I might bite! Lol
another dope review.....I appreciate clean fingernails!!! 🤪
😁
I am just ordered shitheads
This keyboard is sht! It's controls do not work unless you map each of them and it's a lot of work. It's probably best to map to Sub mixes and save the template for the future. Save your money and buy a synth with keys instead. That way you at least get internal sounds. Then you can map it just the same as this POS MPK. No difference.
And I bet I still does NOT auto map to the MPC software... stupid!
It does and the mpk mini mk3 does too
@@AveMcree great news…
Mostly Poor Customer support
Welcome to the music tech industry
This midi controller is worst midi I have ever bought
care to elaborate?
yo where do u store all your gear cuz u have alot
😂not really. I bare have anything tbh
Ave, how you got a mpc live ii masterclass but setting up simple external midi transport controls “not your thing?” 😂
Because it isn’t 😂
@@AveMcree when you master something, the whole thing becomes your thing, my guy.
Thats literally the only way to “master” something lol
