What fascinating piece of history. Loved the talk. When dara Shikoh was running away from his brother he was given refuge in out village by Hindu chaudhrys near chenab. A village called sohdra, now in Pakistani Punjab. Good work.

Yes this story been propagated by tourist guide in Agra … the mirror used to be there in caged bedroom of sahajahan where you can have mirror image of taj mahal .. because he was old and can not stand so, he used to see Taj Mahal from mirror .. I myself had seen there and had seen taj mahal same way when I was a kid and visited decades back … Of course with tourist guide … many times during a yearly history holiday vacation .
by the way I had already read her books in the past … great writing … also the host .. giving his best effort …. at least in terms of knowledge sharing with new generation with the original writer.

@Therabinsarma: for example, at 3:36 she is talking about Mansabdar and Subedar. She says that Subedar is bigger than Mansabdar. Subedar was a Governor of a particular Suba/ region, while a Mansabdar was a direct court officer with grades, being recognised by his Zat and Sowars system.
A small Mansabdar with just 5000 Zat/2000 Sowars could become a Subedar, though mansabdaris went upto 50,000Zat/ 50,000 Sowars.
Subedar was an administrative post; Mansabdar was the Mughal rank. She does not even understand the basic tenets of Mughals.

The imperial culture n family dynamic of emperors n imperial power struggle seem strange n cruel n so contradictory to our values today. This is how the world or rather India was few centuries back. Beside the emperor's dynamics which is given much attention there was a parallal social history n socio economic systems of governance which need attention to see why mughal dynasty prevailed for about thousand years n as a rich cultural hub.

    Two corrections.
    1. Back then, one tola was not 10 grams.
It was equal to 11.66 grams.
A measure even the British continued until 1945.
British Indian one rupee coins are also 11.66 grams.
Only post decimalization, one tola became 10 grams
    2. Cannon back then did not fire shells that exploded.
They fired either solid balls against fortification or they fired grape shot (many small balls) against soldiers.

She might be a good scholar, but not a good narrator or orator. The narration is jumbled, without head or tail. Plus she's including her personal intuitions without any basis for certain characters, like Shah Jahan's daughter, etc.

@@mihirdas6774 That technique was well known among Turks & Timurids too. Timurids used to deploy small cannons on top of elephants more often.
However, those were not very effective tactics. There is no comparisons between power, precession, range and destructiveness of stationary artillery and those small mounted ones.
The mounted ones were only used when an army has to travel very long distance without having heavy cannots.

If Mughals slaved us because of Army, British also had army, then why British spended so much money on police?
British and Mughals both Win this land with army but British made police which killed Bhagat singh and Chandra shekhar Aazad.
When they knows that just like Mughals, with army they can enslave indians, then why they wastes money on Police employees.
