@@lauriewilson4741 I wish I could find the gold at the end of one, Lol but no I was at piece for the first time in months. Battling cancer is very difficult to handle. On that day the pain was not as bad. So I was in a good place mentally and wanted to share that peace with others.
This painting is just beautiful! I love trees. I have all my life. I grew up across the street from woods that were loaded with Birch trees. As I got older my favorite tree was the Aspen tree. Now I adore Weeping Atlas Cedar trees, Weeping Colorado Spruce trees and Blue Weeping Alaskan Cedar. Also, The Weeping Willow trees. Trees are so beautiful, as is your painting. You amaze me every week!

This is just awesome....earlier this week I was looking at the leaves and flowers I have dried and was trying to figure out how to incorporate them in a painting project and POW!!! Love it. Would love to give it a try. The silver birch was one of my mums favourite tree. She had one planted smack dead in the middle of our family home. It's Still there. Would love to paint this and give it to my step dad, who misses her dearly. Thank you for this..

Just a hint to try if you like..
You can microwave your silica granules with flowers n leaves in it in the microwave..then you can use them when they are cool.
The result is so beautiful!

Beautiful job! How do you preserve the tree leaves? Is that some kind of sand that you place the leaves in?
I think she called it silicone gel...I want some! Lol
She used silica gel, like the stuff in little square packets that you get in camera boxes or shoeboxes or things of that nature. Designed to keep the product dry. You can see her discussing this at the beginning of the video. I believe you can get this at flower shops and at major craft shops In their floral section. It’s a little on the expensive side but you can keep using it and reusing it. Once the little gel pieces become saturated you can dry them out in a long slow oven for a couple of hours. Also if you’re wanting to dry a flat botanical, like a leaf, you can have several layers in one of these shallow containers. Just make sure you have at least 2 mm or so of silica in between each layer. If you wish to dry something that is 3-D, say, a flower, then start with a small layer of silica put your flower on top of it, then be certain you’ve got silica in between the petals down to the centre of the flower.The larger and the fleshier the item, the longer it will take to dry. I hope this helps.
