loved the cover but I don't think that's an efficient way to play D major, there is a reason we play it the conventional way.
I play it like that. It s not that I can't play it normally, it's just easier and sounds better when changing chords in fast songs. I also play Emaj using my thumb, with a semi barré on the 4th fret

Dave Almeida she slows it down (no up strums) during the intro and the chorus and then speeds it up in between the chorus and the verse :)

i've got you. so its a strong D then a thumb scrape U, and then 3 D. repeat. when she starts singing at 00:22-ish, she goes D (scrape) D DUDU. at the end, she starts using constant eighth-note style DUDU strums. just go wild there.
That thumb chord is kinda weird. Very interesting
