The presentation on location makes it so much more interesting. Is it known who designed the massive marble or stone "Baroque" fireplace that you are in front of in the opening sequence? That is a very impressive piece of architecture. I can see from the Russborough website that it is in the entrance hall but there is no information about it nor can I find anything with a simple Google search. Thank you.

Thank you. I would hope to record more such films on site - but at present, government restrictions will not allow this to be possible. Perhaps in December...
Meanwhile, the chimneypiece (made from a kind of limestone known as Kilkenny marble0 in the entrance hall was presumably designed by Richard Castle, architect of the house, it is very much in his style, massive and muscular. There used to be a similar one in the entrance hall of Westport, County Mayo (also designed by Castle) but it was removed, seemingly in the 1940s, and replaced with the present - later and lighter - chimneypiece.

@@irishaesthete4332 The mantel in the entrance hall at Westport House was removed by the 10th Marquess of Sligo in the 1950s. The present Neoclassical mantel came from the Duke of Portland's seat at Welbeck Abbey.
