I did a laptop reset because it was running very slow, but after I did, my hard drive showed as being almost full. It didn't make any sense. I could see all of my folders and the data in them did not add up to all the space that was being used. Followed your instructions about showing hidden files and there it was, a huge 400 gig folder with all the reset data in it. I deleted it and Problem solved! You are awesome!!!

My issue was not covered in this video. I found that I had a backup of windows 7 on my storage drive. The file showed 0 bytes but when I deleted it, it suddenly showed 500GB being deleted. That was my issue. I found out that this is a backup created when upgrading to 10 in case it does not work out. Not sure why this is kept after so much time has passed.

Bless you. Just build a new pc to replace my trash laptop. My laptop has 28gb of space after windows and was unable to even install installation media for windows. Had 4.3 gb of temp files.
None of these solved my problem, I found out it was a windowsapp folder which I had no access to view so it didn't show up in any storage calculations.
Download and install spaces sniffer software and it would let you know the large size files....that it can be hidden in your computer. But before removing any files just do a research about the file before deleting, you might delete an important files. This method works for me.........

@@juneutland5067 only found one folder of 40 GB after searching through individual folders after HOURS and then decided to just delete the 40 GB and accept this at least. The stupid thing is not all the folders show you exactly how many GB they hold. I sorted all folders by size and still in one of the "smallest" folders there was the 40 GB folder. So I guess it does not count every type of folder and you really have to open EVERYTHING manually which takes a lot of time. Sorry I cant help. But I guess its either tedious searching or just buying a new drive.

I hate to say it but this is false hope 8 times if this is the case. Bloatware is real and hard to find because the applications themselves are often hidden/small but they create/use temporary HD space in the GB. Lenovo and Dell are some of the worst culprits. They aren't easy apps to find and you have to have real technical knowledge to get them out. You could reboot and you have gigabytes free and then an hour later your computer is telling you you have none. It's a bloatware issue. Get with an actual professional to help you out.

All drives don't show the true storage capacity and can be off by 10%, this is because the only way to get an accurate report on storage is to do a full scan which can take over an hour to do.

did you right clicked on cmd and run as administrator. Running as administrator won't give you this error

mine shows 5 GB free of 117 GB for C and D is 1 TB, WTF !!! did someone switch the 2? or does C:/ is not showing true storage cpacity?
All drives don't show the true storage capacity and can be off by 10%, this is because the only way to get an accurate report on storage is to do a full scan which can take over an hour to do.
