Little advice, don't start your combos with E or W. E is tricky to connect cause the enemy will be moving in most cases and the circle of the spell is not so big. Hit Q first to slow the enemy, then hitting E will be much easier, follow up with W, then R, and if they dont die, use Q again so u will proc the passive again cuz the ult will leave them at 2 passive stacks. I know what I¨m talking about since i am Vel'Koz main. I hope it will help you. Vel'Koz is tricky to play, but once u are ahead, u rly just need to press R to get kills, and i love it.
starting the combo with q CAN make it easier. it can have 2 disadvantages.
1. you take more time to kill because you have to wait for q's slower travel time as opposed to e which CCs the enemy considerably faster. ewqr is simply the quicker combo than q(waiting for the slow skillshot to connect so the target is slowed and set up for e)wer. lategame when an adc attacks you with 2.0 attack speed, using the slower combo can get you killed.
2. if you start with a slow instead of a knockup and the enemy adc cleanses, QSSes the slow and runs out, you are dead. same goes for mikael's. knockups cannot be reduced or removed without cc immunity skills. same goes for enemy zhonya's users who can negate a way bigger part of your damage because they can go untargetable during slows but not knockups.
and actually, your spell rotation applies 7 stacks when fully hit, 4 from basic abilities and 3 from ult. the ult leaves them at one passive stack or less if the internal cooldown of the passive comes into play.

Always start with E if you surprise your enemy by hitting him from the fog of war for example, because as soon as it connects you can't miss any of your other skillshots.

Just a tip, the q provides a slow, so if you cannot reliably land your e, cast q first, then e w combo, followed by ult if they're under 60% at the start of the combo. 90% of the time, it'll ensure a kill.

Vel’koz is one of the most op anti-tank champions. His abilities + passive have insane scalings, his passive gives you a true dmg burst for every 3rd Ability dmg you do, if you get your passive off your ult Will do true dmg and aply stacks, he has 3 abilties which have CC on them (Q, E and R) and his 4th ability (W) has no cast time and 2 charges, his E will knock up opponents and if they are close to you they will be knocked back, he has an attack damage growth of the number PI. He is just a beast, and op va tanks. Nasus worst enemy hahah.

As a Vel'koz main I feel like Deathfires is a more viable option. Definitely feels more impactful than thunderlords, especially in the late game + liandrys and rylais. Could just be me though. Very underrated champion and if played correctly has little to no counter play, even against Zeds and Yasuos.

Idk what to say when i am early
i like to play velkoz support in ranked and 100-0 the adc with one combo with almost no ap. i once calculated that if you hit everything at level 6, you do about as much damage as a level 6 vayne with doran's blade has health and you don't need more than 5 ap from your starting item, maybe even 0 ap is enough. sometimes my own adc can't even react and gets no assist because the combo can be done very quickly as you showed while the target is knocked up and slowed most of the time, leaving little chances to escape.
he can be played into anything though playing him into vayne or sivir can be annoying. he goes very well with jhin and caitlyn.

Slimios 72 Dude the full damage combo is when you have your stun up press Q then W then R then run away and kite them with Tibbers when they chase. She's literally the easiest champ to play

I dont play much mid, but why do so many people max q on velkoz? Im forced to max w to push back champs like taliyah and ahri that can force me in so easily
Sam I am because the skill that helps you when farming is your passive not w you can easily push lane with your lvl 1 w too and q is your main dmg skill
