Most of us in dirt bikes use to ride as kids. Then at some point, our parents stopped subsidizing or paying outright for our hobby and we had to quit for a decade or more. Then slowly over time, we want to get back into the sport, but we have a lot of questions. That's pretty much the avatar of the people I've been assisting for the last decade or so. I've been riding dirt bikes since I was 8. I'm now 51. I just barely bought my first set of dirt bike boots. After 43 years of riding without them I can honestly say... They're totally optional. I still wear my hiking shoes on the bike sometimes.
Frankly, we're all way too up tight about getting the right bike, the right gear, the right accessories. All of that is soooo over weighted. Find something you can afford, get out, separate yourself from the screens and the interwebs, and ride.

Ever since 2020 used bike prices went crazy and still are crazy today. I constantly see people trying to sell banshees for 10,000. Beat up bikes for 5000 and so on. Glad I bought a bike in 2017 for 1500.
For Real! Why are banshees 10k or more?! I dream to own one but not at that price!
@@Muffley23 I seen a guy on instagram who claims he sells banshees for 10-30k.. Im calling BS people are pricing their bikes at that, but I see cars and bikes just sitting and sitting people dont have the money. to pay that

I have had a few Banshees. Completely frame up build on the last one. They are amazing machines in the sand. I wouldn’t want to ride one any other place, maybe the desert. I would take my 300XC a hundred times over my Banshee. I don’t ride in the sand anymore so I sold mine. They are phenomenal and tons of fun in the dunes. Everywhere else no thanks.
I suppose they are desired because of the 350 twin 2T motor.
Not worth more than 5k in my book. And 5k would be a near perfect one. 🤙
Age 43? Are you kidding me? I’m 63 and counting, and with my right leg amputated in 2022 and I still ride. So if I can anyone can. Still ride street bikes too. 😂

I came across your channel in 2015 when I wanted to get back in. Before I left in 2005, 4 strokes were stating to make an impact. Coming back in 2015, 4 strokes were everywhere and I didn’t know what to get. That is when I came across your channel. Love your passion and think you really helped the sport.
You know what I have found to be the biggest change since the 80s when I last rode before taking it back up. The actual riding things, Attack position, Elbows, toes in. Also people teaching others how to ride. My lessons way back when were, Go fast, dont die..... Thanks to you and all the other great content creators for all the great info.
In my 50’s and haven’t been on a bike in 30 years. Sorry to say I recently (last year) bought a Chinese bike to ride the tails behind my house. It was $2k delivered so not $8-10k. I placed a $2k limit on my budget as I have other obligations. I am a professional mechanic so working on something used is not an issue, I just didn’t want to. All that being said I now find myself pricing out new Japanese bikes in the 140cc to 150cc range because I don’t jump and they will do what I want. The horsepower on the Chinese bike I have is in the range of those Japanese bikes (140150cc) but there is a significant weight difference for starters as well as suspension and everything else. A little long winded I know but from my experience gentlemen, spend the extra right off the bat if you are like me and getting back into the lifestyle of trail riding.

When I was a child, if my dad caught wiff that I rode a dirt bike...I was grounded, 2 weeks every time, I got grounded a lot.

These are exactly for me! I'll turn 37 this weekend😥😆 I raced MX as a kid and had to stop in my late teens. I've continued riding street and tracking sport bikes here in the TX Hill Country. I recently moved very close to 2 MX tracks so I've been binging these vids to figure out which bike I should get and gear. These videos are so helpful and honest. Thanks Kyle!
Started riding on two wheels Father’s Day 2019. My daughter got me a 19 wr250f. Grew up riding three wheelers the quads. Never going back. Hopefully I can get a 2t in the next year or so. Been watching this channel since then and it’s been a bunch of great info. Keep it up

I been paying for my own dirtbikes since 8th grade never had anything handed to me. My parents wouldnt allow me to even ride someone elses bike let alone own one. They got divorced when i was 12 and i saved up and bought my own bike that year.

I'm just a foamer! I'll admit it I sold my last bike when my son was born and I am no where near getting another. When the day comes ...it will be so sweet!
Priorities! I sold the bike a couple times now because of time and money commitments. I waited until the kids got a little lower maintenance for my wife and I could afford all the pieces of the puzzle. Bike, the right gear, tow vehicle. There will be time!

Have you got a video that breaks down weather what you want out of a bike requires you to haul a bike or if you can ride it to the trail?
All i need it to do is be road legal, be able to do 60mph "good enough" and to have the least amount of valve checks.

I bought my first dirt bike at 13 with my job as a "paper boy". I know, that was waaaaay back when times were
different. And indeed they were. Try being a 13 year old in 2024, and having a paper route.(what's paper route?)
I get it..... but then again I don't. At 13 today, you can still have an awesome experience with a 1990's YZ 125.

Just bought a brand new ktm 250 xcw a month ago because of this channel and im already having problems out of the crank sensor i dont think the new ktms are worth it 2019 and older stay there
2018 was the high point for KTMs evolution. The last of the carbureted bikes.

Hi, I’m gonna be 67 here in a few months and I wondering should I get an adventure bike? I don’t know good for the road good for the gravel Road dirt Road and light trails sounds interesting. Don’t know which one to pick though.
I wouldn't want to learn on an ADV bike. get a klx300 or something.
Adventure bikes are heavy, 250/300 dual sport would be a better place to start.
I was thinking of a KTM390 adventure . They are kind of lite at about 380 fueled and more than adequate to do the job street, gravel and dirt road as well as lite trails .
@@dadge2500 Heres the thing, you ARE going to drop the bike. Picking up a 380 lb bike is going to be much harder than a 300lb bike. It doesn't sound like a big difference but, it is. I am looking to get rid of my 295lb wr250r and getting a beta rs500 that is 253lb, mostly for the weight difference, a little for the power. I also have a YZ250x at only 230lb, very different picking it up compared to the wr at 295. I am 63 so it is only going to get harder.
@@ddrowdy2 BMW GS 1250 in the 900 along with the tiger 900 KTM 790 and 890 Yamaha 700 Honda new 750 trans Apl they are all heavy. And yes I am not getting any younger and bikes will get heavier if you want to adventure ride you’re gonna pack it heavy bike or a small bike heavy. I figured the 390 adventure would be light enough and fun bike to ride around where I live the Washington DBR and the Idaho DBR would be good starting points.
