One of the best things I ever saw at Disney world, was a little boy dragging his parents through the Swiss Family Tree House, assigning rooms to everyone, and just in absolute chattering awe. Mom said they'd have to try and find a copy of the movie when they got home, and when I say this kid went nuclear over the idea that: "THERE'S A MOVIE?!!!!"

That’s an amazing movie that I haven’t seen in along time but I absolutely adored as a kid. My mom’s student is reading that book right now in school and so we’re going to watch the movie soon because she wants to let him watch it when they’re done with the book!

The scene where Captain McCree learns about Earth has always reminded me of "Part of Your World." He even asks his computer to explain dancing to him which has a bit of a parallel to Ariel singing "I wanna be where the people are. I wanna see, wanna see 'em dancing." Additionally, the same scene from WALL-E also reminds me a lot of the montage that plays alongside "Strangers Like Me" in Tarzan. It's also a moment in which a character shows great passion for the discovery of a distant world. The key difference is that the human world is accessible to Tarzan and Ariel, but it's up to Captain McCree and the passengers of the Axiom to not only understand it, but bring it back to life - a haunting but still very inspiring concept. I'm rambling at this point, but I just have to say that I love scenes in animated films where characters exhibit a passion for learning. I feel like the desire to know more is just as emotionally powerful as many other themes in Disney and Pixar films and I love it when it gets to be in the spotlight.

Also me: Ah, yes. My favorite part of The Little Mermaid was indeed the ending, when she brought Prince Eric and his entire kingdom back to an entirely abandoned Atlantis to repopulate it. I mean, admit it, you cried at that scene.
Plus, in Wall-E, he DID give his voice to to the Cockroach. *Nods* Yes, they are indeed each other.
Little did we know, by gifting his beloved daughter a new set of land legs -- Triton inadvertently made Ariel immortal, though not invincible.
Skipping ahead to shortly after Ariel's organic body began failing this test of time... let's skip ahead more, to shortly after all that is - or ever was - Ariel (aside from her original body) now resides within a small waste-collecting robot.

@@ked49 well, he shows her what he does, but his "ta-da!" is definitely verbalized. I believe there's another one on the ship, sometime after the extinguisher space dance, but I can't recall the specifics presently.
Luke has great taste. 2 of my top 5 interactions with characters involve Ariel. The time she gave me a Dinglehopper for my birthday and the time I dined at Cinderella's Royal Table and Ariel remembered me from visiting her in her grotto earlier that same day.

Can I just say, thank you for letting your son like a princess and letting him meet her.... it means so much to know that he is willing to like anything even if it is seen as girly. Kids deserve to love what they want. Thank you for teaching him that. Keep being awesome and you are raising him right!!! Sending all the love!!!
I think I’ve actually put this idea in my head before, but didn’t fully develop that thought. As usual, you do an amazing job of making sense of things that are sometimes completely out of the box. I am a huge fan of your Disney and Pixar videos and this one did not disappoint!

I’ve been playing Disney dreamlight valley recently. Ariel and Wall-e are interact with each other a lot, and are friends. Because of their collecting hobby.
Ariel doesn't sign her name, she wasn't even looking at the paper. The pen does it. Magic pen. Whatever power the contract has and whatever it needs from Ariel to activate its power, her intention and her hand on the pen are enough.
You do know you can write and sign a paper without looking at the paper right? You don't need a magic pen for that. I see no proof that the magic of the pen let Ariel put her name to paper, just that it made the contract magically binding.
I'm just surprised you haven't made a video of Pocahontas and Moana being the same movie.....

I went to Disneyland as a child with my family and my mom's friend, who happened to be one of the writers for the original Teen Titans cartoon! Unfortunately, I was SO young that I hadn't seen the show, so I had no idea how cool it was at the time...

My large family learned early on that it’s best for us to wait till the kids are at least 5 till we do Disney trips. Aside from the struggle of diapering in public, and naps being a necessity we realized as magical as it is for them. They won’t remember the trip at all.
Now It’s become kind of an unofficial tradition now to go during spring break of kindergarten

Maybe Ariel only knew how to write her name which was common for ladies in history? Jane Seymour was tactfully smart yet illiterate but remembered as a baby maker. Like Ariel is only associated for her voice.
We were there as well last week, taking my grandson to Disney for the first time. You nailed it on the head about the joy seen on a child's face. Best trips I took to Disney involved the first times for each of my kids.

Wall-E does not "put Eve's mission before his own". When Eve has that "I don't care about Earth anymore" moment and just wants to hold hands with Wall-E (aww!), Wall-E's insistence on the plant is not for humanity's sake, but his own. He is saying "We need to go back to Earth, because that's where the parts are." (That is a direct quote from the filmmakers in the audio-commentary.) Wall-E never puts the fate of humanity before his own, and humanity coming back to Earth is just a happy coincidence as far as Wall-E and Eve are concerned.

When I was little I was at Disney with my 2 or 3 year old brother. We were eating in Cinderellas castle and and when Ariel came out he yelled at her from across the room, “ARIEL! COME OVER HERE!” And that’s how the family joke that he has a crush on her. She hates me for it. But I don’t.
Wall E was at Silicon Valley Comic Con with Adam Savage (of Mythbusters fame) as a working, beeping, driving RC tabletop sized (actual size small fridge, big microwave) model. It was very cool. He was driving around everywhere.

I remember when my sister and I were 5 and 3, went to Disneyland with family. We are redheaded, very redheaded. I think Ariel got more excited to see us then we did her.
I am now the eldest of 4 redheaded girls, two look straight from brave, and the youngest is NAMED Arielle(the actual feminine spelling of that name. My parents are not Disney fans, mind you, they just liked what it meant)
I would not want go back with my family now. Lol.

I have the same Disney Artist Series Mickey sweater as you! My wife absolutely hates it even though she bought it for me when we were dating. She says she hates it because Mickey looks weird, which is coincidentally exactly why I love it. I have the matching shirt and backpack too haha
