Just discovered your channel and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I too am in Sweet Home Alabama. We live in Pelham and Oak Mountain State Park is pretty much my backyard. Love living on the mountainside with all of these beautiful trees, birds and a few wild animals. GOD BLESS ❤

I grew up on hamburger and beans with fried potatoes and onions! ☺️ We ate it because it was affordable but I had no idea. 🤔 that we were poor.

I paid almost $3 for dozen of eggs yesterday in Guntersville. I wish I had chickens. I go through a lot of eggs.
A dozen pasture raised eggs costs over $9 here in Houston. I'm with you...I NEED to have a small farm and some chickens!

I’m in the Huntsville area. My garden hasn’t done very well. My bell peppers are half the size they should be. And I’m just not getting a lot of tomatoes, I’ve got 4 tomato plants . Some tomatoes were eaten by the bugs and chipmunks but those were green tomatoes. The vines just aren’t producing tomatoes.

I'm curious how you ended up in Holly Pond? The reason I ask is because it is so rural and usually people end up there because they had family that lived there at some point. When I used to go visit my step dads family I think there were 2 gas stations and I think a little diner. A very friendly community.
You’re right about the rain. We need it bad in the south. We’ve got some land in NE Alabama on lookout mtn. We hope to retire there one day.

My kids grew up on the hamburger and beans! sometimes I made homemade Mac n cheese with it.

Upper South here. Spent last summer in Anniston AL and it was heavenly. I love your geese and I loved seeing all that space for your watermelon. I loved living in NM but I missed the humidity of the south. Lol. I hang my laundry too. Lol. Take care.

I make the beans and hamburger too.Try it with shredded cheddar cheese, cut up a can of biscuits on top and bake til the biscuits are done. It’s so good.

We let them out but only when we are out with them. We've lost some to hawks recently so we have to be a little extra cautious right now.

Some. But we are really going to be working on our soil through the fall and winter.

I typically direct sow radishes, carrots, chard, turnip greens and collard greens. I start cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower as plant starts.
