It's amazing that she can actually go to this level of emotion, on the very brink of crying by the sound of her shivering breaths, and still be able to sing. It's hard just to speak properly. But that's what she does. Absolutely connect with emotion and then project that in song.

Lara IS/becomes the story. This is why her performance is so captivating drawing your in, immersing in the pains and emotions. I must thank Dimash for properly (re-) introducing her to the world. APPARENTLY she's been like the underdog in Canada where she became, like, banned from the Canadian / US music scene. Hence she turned her attention to Europe, Russia...
After witnessing a performance like this, it makes perfect sense why Dimash got smashed by her.
LARA has become personal Queen of vocalists and I go further by saying that SHE REIGNS SUPREME.
I love your killer reaction. ❤

Lara Fabian is Belgian but she lives in Canada (so she has this second nationality). There is also a magnific duet that she sings with an another unbelievable singer (Maurane who is also Belgian, there were friends). The song is called: ''Tu es mon autre''. If you want to hear it just for you, for your curiosity, please listen it and read a translation lyrics to understand the song. If I can also recommand you to listen a song with only Maurane (who has a magnificient velvet and warm voice) there is: ''Sur un prélude de Bach'' and '' Ca casse'' (there is also ''La complainte de la serveuse automate'' from the musical comedy Starmania). She was an incredible singer who has song with Céline Dion, Lara Fabian. She is recognized for having one of the most beautiful voices in french countries like these woman. Thanks for people who will listen these songs and for your curiosity :)

Je suis malade (song) The real story of the song
When the song was written, Lara Fabian was only 3 years old.
Je suis malade is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade. Written by Serge Lama on a music composed by Alice Dona, the song became the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama who regularly takes it on stage 3.
    History
The song Je suis malade was inspired by a real heartbreak of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship.
In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love was a certainty, but neither of them was free: he had married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968, and she was married and had a son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and finally flees him and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick. Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona, composes in a few hours a melody [...], that very quickly, she makes the singer listen. It was a revelation and Serge Lama wrote almost the entire text in one go. He will say later "The 80% of the song I wrote in 20 minutes, it's almost a shame [...] it came out of my heart so much that I [...] immediately felt that this song had something that the others didn't have".
However, nothing is done. His record company Philips does not believe in the song and to impose it Lama threatens to leave if he is refused to record it3. He wins his case and soon Je suis malade is released as a single. Unfortunately, the radio programmers prefer the B side, the lively and cheerful song Les P'tites Femmes de Pigalle which becomes a hit6. At every opportunity, however, Lama sings Je suis malade, on television, on stage [...], recognition will come, not (in this period), through him, but from a cover by Dalida very touched by the subject of the song and whose inspired and desperate interpretation will seduce the public.
After that, Serge Lama's popularity was turned upside down and he definitely became a recognized and popular singer-songwriter4. Many years later, the artist confides: "An LP of Serge Lama at the time it was worth 4000-5000 albums [...] But after Les Ballons rougesNote 1 it is 1 million4."
Recognition came for the creator of Je suis malade, in 1974, when one evening on the stage of the Olympia in Paris, Serge Lama completed the song by interpreting it without a microphone a cappella in front of an audience conquered by a triumph.
Another happiness, the return of Michele, free and together, they give birth to a boy named Frederic in 1981 and marry ten years later8. Michèle died in 2016 at 71 years, victim of a stroke9. Her death gives the song another dimension, Lama who has not given up singing it on stage says: "Every night when this song comes, I know it is an obstacle that must be jumped [...], it usually takes me a minute to recover [...], this song deserves to be given everything".

The song is from Serge Lama, one of the biggest star of the 70ies and more in France . Yes, the song began to be known after Dalida began to sing it . Dalida had such a sad life in love that this song seemed to be her life . Serge Lama said that Dalida sang it better than him. Dalida ended her life by a suicide . It's more terrible to listen to her singing that now since this horrible end .... I suppose Serge Lama is proud of this Lara's version . I think that Dalida inspired Lara for the way to sing this very sad song !

Women tend to be more unpretentious and sensitive in their reactions whereas men's reaction to this song tend to be more guarded and unemotional - duhh, whats new huh? You do a great review of the song, I appreciate all of Lara's feelings you explained (especially after the song is finished and she is still in the mood of the song) this is exactly how I see this performance. This is the greatest French song, but the greatest performance of all times, by Lara. ;-) Dominique

You're so right about her - she transmits whatever emotions she's found in her music to us all.
For what I think is the peak example of the bond she's created with her audiences watch this performance of Je T'aime from 2002. The crowd singing to her - telling her they love her - has her break down crying on stage and can't hardly sing at all. It's so emotional and amazing.

It's tempting to compare with Dimash, but he is still very focused on selling in Asia, where they are very fond of certain elements that are less valued in western classical aesthetics. Although this seems not to count in pop if you see all the reactions of coaches.

You're French is very nice! And your singing voice is so very beautiful. Thank you for that. I always enjoy your reactions because you always manage to find words that others cannot find. I knew of Lara Fabian before I found Dimash. They are my two favorite singers. She also did a beautiful version of "The Love of Tired Swans with Igor accompanying her.

She can sing the song the way she does not because of emotion. Yes, she has emotion as does virtually everyone. She can sing it the way she does because she is not acting. She is expressing what is genuine. She is sick, as is the universal human condition. Been there. I have seen it. I know it. Few are honest enough to admit it.

It is called Silla, Goguryeo, Baekje, and the emperor of heaven, and other kings are now local rulers. Genghis Khan is called Uiseong Gilsansa in Korean. Han is called king in other languages, and Gan and Khan are called king in English.

I DISCOVERED HER ONLY TWO YEARS AGO. I LOST MANY YEARS OF HER PERFORMANCES WITHOUT EVEN LISTEN TO HER. SHE IS THE MOST UNDERRATED SINGER IN THE WORLD, SHE IS MAGNIFICENT, SENSITIVE ,BEAUTIFUL , ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! SHE IS NOT SINGING. SHE LIVES THE SONG . LARA I AM SORRY ,BUT PLEASE MARRY ME EVEN IF YOU ARE ALREADY MARRIED. I AM SAD TO KNOW THAT LATELY SHE HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN HER EAR AND SHE LOST A PART OF HER ABILITY TO SING LOUD BECAUSE OF THIS. I HOPE SHE WILL BE BETTER BY NEXT YEAR.

The Love Lara lost is not a boyfriend or lover. She is living the lyrics, and came too past. Here are hints “she is alone as when ‘Mother’ would go out at night”. Again, ‘like a stupid child sitting by the radio’ she is sick, she is perfectly sick. Yes! That is what she is sick, alone in a world to die. Lara taps into the loss of her mother. Lara was extremely close to her mother & grandmother. Forgive me if every word is not exact, I am paraphrasing as best as I am able. Love from, Timothy in Tallahassee, Florida 🌞🌴

I have followed Lara since I heard her in Brussels in 1996 (she is a native Belgian, by the way; the Canadian connection came later when she tried to crack the French-language market there.)
Serge Lama was the one who brought this song to the public. Dalida sang it sometime later. I have to say, I prefer Lara's version because of her connection to the words and the audience. She is simply phenomenal: rich, powerful vocals, and interpretive skills of a level that is rarely achieved. It's no wonder Dimash names her as one of his idols! Have you watched her "Adagio" from this same concert? ruclips.net/video/jKtNuLG5jAo/видео.html

You are at the same time right and wrong. The song is about the wife (Michèle) of the author (Serge Lama), but not because of her death. (Death inspire sorrow, not anger or rage). It was because the begining of their relation had been extremely difficult and complicated (it was secret, both were engaged with someone else, both were travelling a lot for their career) and that made him suffer a lot.
Inspired by the pain of Serge, her friend Alice Dona composed a musical piece. When Serge heard it, the words surged and most of the text was written in 20 minutes! The song also includes references about his anger against his mother who inhibited the musical career of his father.
Dalida is the singer who helped the popularity of the song, but the original version by Serge is still a very good one. He became a giant star in France.
The death of Michèle separated the two lovers in 2016
