This was lovely. I’m from London and in the early 80s I worked from a company called H&M Rayne in Kings cross. We were The Queens shoe and Handbag makers, also for Princess Diana and many other royals. I was one of two heel coverers, my hubby (Boyfriend back then) made the Handbags. One particular iconic bag he made was the day after the divorce was announced Diana came out in a little back dress with a long piece of chiffon flowing behind, carrying a small black clutch bag. Clive Shilton designed her wedding shoes and I was his sample model. Loved that guy. My wedding were made there too. Lovely days working at Rayne. We were like one big family there. It’s not until we got older, did we appreciate that heritage. A few years ago, for our wedding Anniversary, I bought hubby a large coffee table book called Rayne, Shoes for the stars. There are pictures of shoes and bags we both had a part in making. But also show the History of Rayne. Jeanie Matthew was the head designer there in the late 50s and was still going strong when we were there. Sadly it closed down in the late eighties. Wonderful memories ❤️
