It's always fun to re-listen to albums you think you know, after you've made changes to your system (especially speakers). I'm using a REL S/510 in a relatively small room, but even though it's located literally to the immediate right of my listening position, you never hear it as a separate sound source. Well done, Andrew!
I was on the fence regarding a sub and had looked at the T-zero MK3. Well after watching your video, along with a few others, I have one arriving this week 😂
Well done. Recently gone for all in 1 speakers but each to their own. Glad you're happier. Had a REL for 3 years and once you have one you dont look back, bit like an air fryer !
Andrew, im a huge fan of The Beatles and I discovered your videos last year and I love them. I find them very relaxing for some reason specially the way you talk. Great job ❤
Just setup the T0 with a pair of Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 bookshelf speakers. It’s startling how the T0 completely transformed the entire room! It’s as if I have a new and bigger pair of speakers. There is also significant more detail in the high notes.
I almost bought the t zero mk3 for my B&w 707 s2. Only thing that put me off is I use my system for movies and ended up getting really good deal with the rel 1205. My brother had the t7x and now t9x with his 703 s2, 707 s2 surrounds, can't remember the centre channel B&w and finally 2 pairs of svs prime elevation for Atmos
Enjoyed this video Andrew. I would love to do an upgrade but it will have to be down the road a bit. It is definitely worth going and getting a demo before buying. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
So glad that you are pleased with your upgrade. I live in a top floor apartment so I'm not sure my fellow residents would appreciate me incorporating a sub woofer into my system. I have however upgraded to a surround system that I am very pleased with, all hooked up to my turntable and my BrennanJB7 system, and I am very pleased with the results, especially when I play the Red album, those mixes sound even more fantastic, like yourself I'm now going to have to listen to every album and CD that I own. I can imagine that the new release of Band on the run is gonna sound mighty fine through those new speakers of yours...
I love this review. I listen to a lot of music but also enjoy movies. The thing that surprised my the most when I used a subwoofer for music was just how much bigger the soundstage sounded. Not louder, but bigger. And of course the bass was more defined. My plan now is to get 2 REL T7/x to extend my Left and Right speakers and use my existing HT sub for the LFE. I think REL calls this 3D bass? Congratulations on your new system. Enjoy!
I have a REL T/7x sub woofer, fantastic. It completely underpins the whole sound stage at the low end. Very subtle, I didn’t get it at first but after about 5 on/offs for comparison during the demo it clicked. As you say you don’t hear it you feel it. I’ve also got their transmitter which negates the need for long expensive cables across the room. As for speaker grills here’s my hard and fast rules: 1) if playing music they must be OFF, put them on and off while listening and you’ll be amazed at the difference 2) if not currently playing music then it doesn’t matter (my preference is off) 3) if you or anybody else is hoovering or you’ve got a horde of wild toddlers running all over the shop then ON ON ON
The best thing about going with a stereo is being able to control the bass of each individual stereo speaker, which btw is perfect for those whose stereo speakers don't happen to have equal distance to their side walls! But for me personally, that's only half of it. The fact that my two channels also entails an Atmos setup, not only I'm able to run the stand mounts full range (Sonettos) but the fact that I'm utilising the .1 LFE connection, too. I'm able to toggle for movies to 2-channel music (or vice versa) and not have to alter the bass.

Yes, the wires go from the amp (same outputs that go to the speakers), and the sub is powered so it handles the amplification, so it's not putting extra load on the amp.
@@richardalvien346- hi 👋 the Rel subs ship with what’s called a high level neutrik connector which is speaker wire at one end, a special connector for the sub at the other. The speaker wire goes into the speaker output terminals on your amp :)
Here's a photo from the back of my amp, the red/yellow/black wires go to the sub and you'll see they come from the same connectors that my speakers are connected to: i.postimg.cc/W1Rs2BWV/DSC01459.jpg

I am very happy with the results. I would say that i am kind of purist but if it makes it better and it does i accepted it. When done tastefully i guess its ok. Still consider myself as audiophile ;)
I bet they won’t. I have towers and the S5 in my 13’ x 10’ room and it’s not overpowering at all at modest volumes up to mid 70s dB. When I get to the 80s+ peaks, it can be too much. Also, the S5 crosses over my towers at around 40hz and volume set to 50%.
Even though I've experienced a stereo pair of t5i's for the last couple of years, I have to say one of the biggest upgrades within my small 4 x 3.5 m (13 x 11.5 ft) room was getting the couch off the back wall. Yeah, corners are most prevalent, but those resonances also tend to stack up on rear walls too. At least no more having to lean forward to get away from the bastards 😂
Yep, It’s NOT just about MORE BASS ! ! A Sub removes all the Bass ’Load’ from the Main Speakers. U therefore hear much more of the details in the Mid’s. ( Female Vocals / Acoustic Instruments ) … the 100’s already have a very Large Mid / Bass Driver. I get using these ‘On Their Own’ for ‘More Bass’… However, I must admit, in your smallish room, As U went for a Sub too, I think the Silver 50’s would have been adequate. I think those 100’s just look Toooo Large for your room. But, hey, It’s your room and Money and … your “Ears’’ …. Enjoy. Any plans to ‘Upgrade’ your Amp / Streamer / DAC ? The Amp ’Deal’ rite now is the Rega Brio ( 500 Notes ) Yep, it has a ( Very Good ) built in Phono Stage …. Will U be adding sum Acoustic ‘Panels’ on the Side Walls next to the Speakers ! ? Oh and BTW, Good Choice of Sub. I use one in my 2nd ( All Analogue ) System with a pair of ATC SCM 11’s ... WoW ... Is yours connected directly to the Amps Speaker Terminals ? Happy Listening ….
Yes the sub is connected from my speaker output terminals then in to the high level input speakon connector of the sub. No plans to change amp/streamer/DAC, hoping they will all last me many more years!
I didn't even mention anything about having a RUclips channel and doing a video until after I'd paid. That was deliberate, as I don't go looking for those kind of deals.
. Also, there's a fair amount of stereo integrated's that are incapable of amplifying anything below 20 Hz. They just don't have the range. The only medium approaching those frequencies are home theater synthetic digital files separated into the LFE channel. This is not HiFi music. There is NO such thing as recorded music at 20Hz & below. It does NOT exist. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
Oh no - fatal mistake visiting a Hi fi shop - wallet considerably lighter. Wouldn’t two subs be too much for your room? Anyway, glad you can notice the difference with your new kit. My stuff is 20+ years and I often wonder will the upgrade be worth it?
I think 2 subs will be fine, it's not about more volume, more about about getting more even frequencies through the room, and if I place them correctly it should also improve the soundstage further.
Components are the same quality between the bronze and silver, and what he said about the silver cabinets being real wood is also false. The material is the same MDF but the real wood veneer on the silvers is nicer to look at
@@AndrewDixonMusic yip I understand that I had grill off my speakers & the smallest grandkid decided to push tweeters in! So it’s grills on for me if their visiting 😜
Don't see the point of adding a Rel TZero MK III Subwoofer it only goes down to 37hz. Monitor Audio Silver 100 7g Speakers go down lower to 35hz, plenty enough Bass on there own.

How much was ya discount then on account of this video?
£0.00
I didn't even mention anything about having a RUclips channel and doing a video until after I'd paid. That was deliberate, as I don't go looking for those kind of deals.
Do the pair!
@@andreyhristoff1933 I have, and it's great 😃👍
I’ve used Yorkshire AV! For my Hana ML cartridge
grill on andrew they keep the dust out
The bongos! The bongos!
7:55 I call BS. What music do you have below 20Hz? And is it just @ -30db down or worse yet?
Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊

Great way to spend your birthday! Mine's 30th December, so share your joy!
Beat you by a day! 😉
Very very jealous😂 my semi detached house and young children put an end to any grandiose plans for hi fi equipment. But one day.....
Yes, that was my situation a few years ago, things change, keep the dream alive!
Subs take a lot of load off your speakers
Oh no - fatal mistake visiting a Hi fi shop - wallet considerably lighter. Wouldn’t two subs be too much for your room? Anyway, glad you can notice the difference with your new kit. My stuff is 20+ years and I often wonder will the upgrade be worth it?
I think 2 subs will be fine, it's not about more volume, more about about getting more even frequencies through the room, and if I place them correctly it should also improve the soundstage further.
Components are the same quality between the bronze and silver, and what he said about the silver cabinets being real wood is also false. The material is the same MDF but the real wood veneer on the silvers is nicer to look at
Unless you have Grandchildren Grill off!
2 grandchildren! That's the main concern...
@@AndrewDixonMusic yip I understand that I had grill off my speakers & the smallest grandkid decided to push tweeters in! So it’s grills on for me if their visiting 😜
Infernal bongos 🤣
Don't see the point of adding a Rel TZero MK III Subwoofer it only goes down to 37hz.
Monitor Audio Silver 100 7g Speakers go down lower to 35hz, plenty enough Bass on there own.
Grill off !!
