So they still never answer the question, no offense. God ALREADY gave Adam and Eve a choice by placing the tree in the garden and saying "Do not eat from it". That sounds like a choice between obeying God and not to me. The devil, or the snake is an EXTRA element added in. Extra temptation, God "upped the ante", "he turned up the pressure". Why? Wasn't it fair and sufficient for God to just give them a choice and start them on a neutral ground, he made it harder by allowing satan to trick and tempt and influence them even harder to go against him. Why would God do that? Why not cast Satan away from Earth?

I also know that angels were given the power to appear or manifest in any form as they perform their assigned duties. So Lucifer and his followers in possession of this power first took up residence in the body of the serpent. I believe instead of perishing in the flood, they still manage to slitheringly sneak into Noah's Ark. well we still had the choice to obey or sacrifice else Lot's wive wouldn't have turned into a pillar of salt. It's kind if crazy to think, we are still making the same choices adam and eve made. Everyone says they shouldn't have ever ate from the tree of knowledge, or else they would die. We have a choice to die or to live forever through Jesus. Yet people still dont choose the tree of life, they are still eating from the other tree. One story like the begining is a good reminder for multiple things in our lives, there are many layers in the story that can apply to different things in your life. I am a christian, have personal experience with God, but I struggle the same question. God allknowing, surely He knew they will fall into sin, eventually. Serpent was just wiser than two unexpectant, childlike (not knowing good vs evil) people in the garden. Why even allow this as an option? Almost like somekind of experiment. But the effects so longterm and tragic for billions of souls .. and not even mentioning the eternal consequences. I believe God is good but the answer those pastors give seems a too easy way out. There must be a better explanation.

God has a day of final judgment for everyone and all the other sentient (angelic kind of) beings He created, capable of making moral choices. That day of Judgment was set the day (moment) Lucifer as he was then known rebelled in Heaven. Revelation 20:10. That is his judgment day. in the meantime - God allowed this fallen creature to be able to tempt all mankind as well as His Son - Jesus Christ, and now us who are alive today. Yes, I agree with you! The account is found in Genesis 3 v 22 - 24 [ESV]. I have always thought about this. I also have other questions: 1. Bearing in mind everyone who has ever lived, and will ever live will be “born into Adam”, why didn’t God give us a choice as to whether we wanted to be born into a fallen world? I personally think it is evil. 2. How did an evil serpent enter the perfect Garden of Eden? I think that is unfair. The temptation came outside of man, yet the whole of humanity suffers because of Adam & Eve’s sin. None of us were there when God had the conversation with Adam & Eve, so it is unfair that we have to be born into their bloodline and also to suffer pain, toil and physical death. If I remember correctly, Satan is an angel that is supposed to tempt man. That's his job. Just look at the book of Job, satan is allowed to tempt Job but with limits. Satan cannot do anything he wants, he has to obey God still. That doesn't sound like the satan christians say he is. I say this because certain Jews believe satan is not evil, he is just the temptation that is required to test man. It's just interesting to see a different perspective of satan.
It's a copout to say Satan's presence in the garden was needed to prove free will or prove loyalty. I go deeper than that. Paradise was sinless, Satan had no right to be there. The only way he could've been there is if he too was sinless at the time or he had Divine special permission. Maybe a scenario like in the Book of Job plays out and Satan requests permission to try Adam. At the end of the day you can't really prove anything to a God that knows the outcome to every conceivable event. Who really has resisted His will? Even rebellion is an illusion. I've always believed parts of our Divine psyche were never designed to be active at such a level to question the Creator. That's what the of tree moral awareness did. It broke the fail safe in our psyche and allowed us to question the validity of the Creator. To go beyond the veil of prescribed experience and to glimpse the hidden workings of the Divine how can one come back and not die?

The garden of eden was a testing ground basically. God was testing us to see whether or not we’d remain true to him by testing our free will. Nothing takes God by surprise. Stella, God did make it clear to them that they would be yielding themselves to destruction if they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil. God told them explicitly that they would die. Of course, prior to their disobedience they did not experience what death/evil was. They had some knowledge that the consequences would be negative. And that is all that is needed to stop a bad decision. As human beings we are limited. We see what is directly in front of us and not what lies miles ahead. We do not know how far our actions go whether good or bad. If you make a good choice today, do you comprehend the lives it impacts? Not fully. Being kind to someone can change their life and the lives of the people around them. In the same way, making bad choices not only affect us but it damages the world around us. In the case of Adam and Eve, they may not have grasped the severity of their choice until after the fact. But God did inform them about it. They were required to live by faith, which is trusting that God knew best and that He had their best interest in mind. They chose to stop walking in faith and then sin followed. The bible says without faith it is impossible to please God, because whoever comes to God must first believe that He is. And that He is a rewarder of those who seek him diligently

My understanding is God gave man free will but since Adam was the first, He had to give him the chance to exercise his free will. How would Adam even know he has free will if he doesn’t have the opportunity to use it? It’s a gift. God could have easily just made Adam do whatever He wanted but He gave him the gift of free will. I think it’s like when I am asking for the gift of patience, He gives me many opportunities to practice patience. Now whether I accept that gift is another story. I trust in God and His perfect love even when I can’t figure everything out that I read in His word. And I know that people are definitely not all knowing so we will never be able to explain God’s Word perfectly that is for certain. That’s not correct. Adam and Eve did die eventually. Just because it wasn’t immediate doesn’t mean that they didn’t receive the due penalty of their error. Prior to their sin and the fall, there was no death and life was meant to be eternal.

God was t punishing us for partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The fruit of the tree itself caused ones eyes to be opened to good and evil. We disobeyed God and now we’re estranged from him because of our disobedience and the only result is death. Dying spiritually and bringing sin into the world. Sin affects everything! This story happened 700 years before the lifetime of jesus and has nothing to do with jesus in any way. If you have a verse of the coming messiah in the OT give it to me, i want to see it.
Also, God is all knowing. He designed/created Adam's wife without him asking or praying for one (where's the free will there btw) and before Eve came into his life, he committed no sin, was tempted by no one and no thing. So he created a terrible/toxic wife because she influenced his decision.
Recently, someone told me one of the possible reasons why God gave Adam and Eve free will is so humanity could choose to be in God’s team or not. Their point of view was that before Adam and Eve we were all angels in heaven, and Satan and his followers rebelled but a great number of angels remained and so God placed us on Earth basically to put us to the test and see on who’s side we really want to be. Please comment if you believe this is biblical? I haven’t studied this myself yet and would very much love to know what anyone else thinks!
No, this information is far from correct. God created man then woman. The fall of angels were before the creation of man. I strongly advise you to read through the book of Genesis and Isaiah.
I assume that the garden of eden would have been destroyed by the great floor. We can just ask the talking snake. He would know, but tends to be a little bit verbose.

A more interesting question is, why God allowed Satan to test Eve's obedience, when on her own she can freely choose to eat the forbidden fruit or not, aware that if she disobeys God she will die, but will live forever if she obeys. He sadly didn’t trust His Creator’s( his father’s) love for them. Had Adam and Eve only come to him when this happened, but they didn’t they hid. Thankful Yahuah has had a plan from the beginning, instead of Adam and Eve perishing internally YHWH the father allowed His son to die in Adam’s place. He atoned for Adam’s mistake. God is all knowing right ? Jesus knee exactly what was going to happen to him right ? So I think god knew Adam and Eve will fall and allowed it. However even god can’t fully control man kind, look at his people the Jews who still do not recognise Jesus as the messiah. Thus I'm saying why do we us females stop giving birth at menopause while men can produce sperm daily and still procreate until they die WHILE US women can not procreate until we die like men can. When god said they will die he did not mean straight away and he did not want to explain in full because he did not want to teach what the word death meant to adam

The judgment passed on Adam was very real in a literal sense. The judgment passed on Eve was very real - in a literal sense. The judgment passed on the serpent was real - in a very literal sense - IN v!4. The first part was "you are cursed above all beasts, and above every animal of the field." The context is about earth bound creatures. Every animal - beast wsa cursed under the curse imposed on Adam -man. "You shall go on your belly" - is a literal action that all snakes do. (this doesn't relate to Satan - Devil) "you shall eat (lick up) dust all the days of your life. (this doesn't relate to Satan - Devil) Micah 7:17 tells us that snakes lick the dust. They actually lick up the dust to get the scent of their prey, and then they swallow it - according to some sources. This is not the description of Satan - even though he has incredible "intelligence". I think I don't care what the Bible says. I have no idea who wrote it and the stories are idiotic. If God intended Eden to be Paradise why didn't it last? And how could you trust this same God to create a Heaven that will last? Won't there be free will there? Won't the people who go there have choices? How long will it take for someone make a mistake and for God to shut Heaven down?

Second, man was given "free will" (a logical mind) to make choices; however, it was never intended that there would be a "bad" option....do you want a peach or pear? peas or carrots? go to the lake or the mountains? All options were to be good, so there was never a bad choice. Third, the peace you speak of can only be achieved at the center of the positive and the negative...like the fulcrum (center) of a teeter-tooter; the stillness in the space of time between breathing in before you breath out; the space of time a grandfather clock pendulum is suspended and still before it moves back to the opposite direction. These are examples of the sum total of good and evil; positive and negative; they cancel each other out; there is not + or - ; just ZERO.....nothingness....the balance/sum of the two. When we became aware of good and evil; opposites; we lost the center. The mind can only process one thought at a time....like a computer....never two thoughts at a time....so we are always in one state or the other. That's why God speaks so much in "boolean logic".....IF my people will do this; THEN I'll do that. God knows all the options, but not which one you will chose. Correct, God does not know everything; although He know which is most likely. Will stop now. There is so much wrong with this video. But it's traditional teaching. Her only option was to change her belief. Now, enters ‘thought’, hissing in Eve’s mind as she passed the tree…..”Are you sure that’s what God said? Are you sure Adam understood it correctly? Let’s ‘re-think’ this!” As input into her ‘logical thinking process’, Eve used her five senses to judge the fruit. Eve began thinking and although, directly opposed to God’s view, she decided the fruit was good for food! She changed her belief, took a bite; gave it to Adam; Adam rejected the TRUTH and ate it. Thought, for every thought, there is an opposing. The mind is always keeping you busy; holding you prisoner; controlling you; forcing you to bow to its whims and serve it. But faith, the illogical and unprovable, literally blows the mind’s mind because the mind cannot…will not….refuses to….accept what is not logical or provable to it. Faith by-passes the mind. Hmmm, after creating temptation free creatures happily frolicing in the garden of eden, he uses the ultimate temptation to see if they really love him? That sounds like a clunky, half-baked free will scenario that an unstable parent would set up to see if her children will obey her. With a freshly made chocolate cake on the kitchen table, and with her creepy and unstable little nephew hanging around with nothing better to do, she tells the boy and girl not to touch the cake. Then she pretends to leave the house to work in the garden. But she is actually peeking through the window. After much temptation, happily provided by the nephew, the children choose to have a piece of cake while watching Looney Tunes. Mom, seeing the discretion, storms back into the house, grabs the boy and girl, tosses them out onto the street, and slams the door behind her. As the boy and girl later wander the streets, she checks on them from time to time, band aiding their cuts, cleaning their faces, but not once considering letting them back into the home that she once provided for them. Mom knew that they would choose the cake and their eventual fate at her hand, so why did she temp them with it in the first place? And when they failed, with their beautiful faces smeared with chocolate, why could she not forgive them, correct them and restore them to their home? This scenario, patterned after the fall, doesn't sound at all like what an all knowing all wise and divine being would set up to get this important question answered. Why would he create temptation-free and happy creatures and place them into the garden of eden if he didn't want them that way? Thanks

Satan was not allowed into the Garden of Eden. Satan didn't appear until after. Serpent didn't get into the garden either but he was able to tempt Eve.

Is it so far fetched to believe that a God that is able to create anything would rather create beings that can choose to do as he wishes or not rather then just creating robots? I believe this is why the devil is allowed to exist at all, not to allow evil but GOD is love and loves satan not for the evil he has done but for the angel he once was. But Adam was made in God's image and was still obviously flawed. How was that his fault, he didn't make his own flaws. How was it our fault that this same God-made being wasn't truly made in in God's image? Why did God punish us all for His own flawed creation? Witness that and try thinking.

God is the knowledge of good and evil. If you cant understand the difference between the idea of right and wrong, by definition you cant know god. It has been taught opposite for far too long. So they still never answer the question, no offense. God ALREADY gave Adam and Eve a choice by placing the tree in the garden and saying "Do not eat from it". That sounds like a choice between obeying God and not to me. The devil, or the snake is an EXTRA element added in. Extra temptation, God "upped the ante", "he turned up the pressure". Why? Wasn't it fair and sufficient for God to just give them a choice and start them on a neutral ground, he made it harder by allowing satan to trick and tempt and influence them even harder to go against him. Why would God do that? Why not cast Satan away from Earth?

One story like the begining is a good reminder for multiple things in our lives, there are many layers in the story that can apply to different things in your life. I am a christian, have personal experience with God, but I struggle the same question. God allknowing, surely He knew they will fall into sin, eventually. Serpent was just wiser than two unexpectant, childlike (not knowing good vs evil) people in the garden. Why even allow this as an option? Almost like somekind of experiment. But the effects so longterm and tragic for billions of souls .. and not even mentioning the eternal consequences.

God has a day of final judgment for everyone and all the other sentient (angelic kind of) beings He created, capable of making moral choices. That day of Judgment was set the day (moment) Lucifer as he was then known rebelled in Heaven. Revelation 20:10. That is his judgment day.

1. Bearing in mind everyone who has ever lived, and will ever live will be “born into Adam”, why didn’t God give us a choice as to whether we wanted to be born into a fallen world? I personally think it is evil.
2. How did an evil serpent enter the perfect Garden of Eden? I think that is unfair. The temptation came outside of man, yet the whole of humanity suffers because of Adam & Eve’s sin.
None of us were there when God had the conversation with Adam & Eve, so it is unfair that we have to be born into their bloodline and also to suffer pain, toil and physical death. I think it is so unjust.

If I remember correctly, Satan is an angel that is supposed to tempt man. That's his job. Just look at the book of Job, satan is allowed to tempt Job but with limits.

It's a copout to say Satan's presence in the garden was needed to prove free will or prove loyalty. I go deeper than that. Paradise was sinless, Satan had no right to be there. The only way he could've been there is if he too was sinless at the time or he had Divine special permission. Maybe a scenario like in the Book of Job plays out and Satan requests permission to try Adam. At the end of the day you can't really prove anything to a God that knows the outcome to every conceivable event. Who really has resisted His will? Even rebellion is an illusion. I've always believed parts of our Divine psyche were never designed to be active at such a level to question the Creator. That's what the of tree moral awareness did. It broke the fail safe in our psyche and allowed us to question the validity of the Creator. To go beyond the veil of prescribed experience and to glimpse the hidden workings of the Divine how can one come back and not die?

Stella, God did make it clear to them that they would be yielding themselves to destruction if they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil. God told them explicitly that they would die. Of course, prior to their disobedience they did not experience what death/evil was. They had some knowledge that the consequences would be negative. And that is all that is needed to stop a bad decision. As human beings we are limited. We see what is directly in front of us and not what lies miles ahead. We do not know how far our actions go whether good or bad. If you make a good choice today, do you comprehend the lives it impacts? Not fully. Being kind to someone can change their life and the lives of the people around them. In the same way, making bad choices not only affect us but it damages the world around us. In the case of Adam and Eve, they may not have grasped the severity of their choice until after the fact. But God did inform them about it. They were required to live by faith, which is trusting that God knew best and that He had their best interest in mind. They chose to stop walking in faith and then sin followed. The bible says without faith it is impossible to please God, because whoever comes to God must first believe that He is. And that He is a rewarder of those who seek him diligently

My understanding is God gave man free will but since Adam was the first, He had to give him the chance to exercise his free will. How would Adam even know he has free will if he doesn’t have the opportunity to use it? It’s a gift. God could have easily just made Adam do whatever He wanted but He gave him the gift of free will. I think it’s like when I am asking for the gift of patience, He gives me many opportunities to practice patience. Now whether I accept that gift is another story.
I trust in God and His perfect love even when I can’t figure everything out that I read in His word. And I know that people are definitely not all knowing so we will never be able to explain God’s Word perfectly that is for certain. The serpent did not lie. This was a question. And, correct as a statement. It’s true; they did not have God’s permission to eat of every tree in the garden.

The serpent did not lie. Eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge did not kill them (physically or spiritually). Even after they ate the fruit, God himself said they would live forever if they ate of the Tree of Life.

That’s not correct. Adam and Eve did die eventually. Just because it wasn’t immediate doesn’t mean that they didn’t receive the due penalty of their error. Prior to their sin and the fall, there was no death and life was meant to be eternal.

Recently, someone told me one of the possible reasons why God gave Adam and Eve free will is so humanity could choose to be in God’s team or not. Their point of view was that before Adam and Eve we were all angels in heaven, and Satan and his followers rebelled but a great number of angels remained and so God placed us on Earth basically to put us to the test and see on who’s side we really want to be.

No, this information is far from correct. God created man then woman. The fall of angels were before the creation of man. I strongly advise you to read through the book of Genesis and Isaiah.

A more interesting question is, why God allowed Satan to test Eve's obedience, when on her own she can freely choose to eat the forbidden fruit or not, aware that if she disobeys God she will die, but will live forever if she obeys. I believe that part of the aswer lies in 3:14. There God brings judgment on the serpent. The judgent is not on Lucifer - judgment has already been passed on him - Matt 25:41. Hell - Everlasting fire was prepared for the devil and his angels.
The judgment passed on Adam was very real in a literal sense. The judgment passed on Eve was very real - in a literal sense. The judgment passed on the serpent was real - in a very literal sense - IN v!4.
The first part was "you are cursed above all beasts, and above every animal of the field." The context is about earth bound creatures. Every animal - beast wsa cursed under the curse imposed on Adam -man.
"You shall go on your belly" - is a literal action that all snakes do. (this doesn't relate to Satan - Devil)
"you shall eat (lick up) dust all the days of your life. (this doesn't relate to Satan - Devil)
Micah 7:17 tells us that snakes lick the dust. They actually lick up the dust to get the scent of their prey, and then they swallow it - according to some sources. This was part of the judgment that came upon the 'snake', Nachash - (H5175) from its hiss.
Verse 15 deals with something far greater than the natural realm spoken of in v14.
"You and the woman" - now deals with Satan who also was called the "old Serpent" - the devil, in Rev 20:2.

The serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field. This is not the description of Satan - even though he has incredible "intelligence". I don't believe the comparison is between the devil and the beast of the field; It is comparing serpent beast to all other beasts.

And how could you trust this same God to create a Heaven that will last? Won't there be free will there? Won't the people who go there have choices? Second, man was given "free will" (a logical mind) to make choices; however, it was never intended that there would be a "bad" option....do you want a peach or pear? peas or carrots? go to the lake or the mountains? All options were to be good, so there was never a bad choice.
Third, the peace you speak of can only be achieved at the center of the positive and the negative...like the fulcrum (center) of a teeter-tooter; the stillness in the space of time between breathing in before you breath out; the space of time a grandfather clock pendulum is suspended and still before it moves back to the opposite direction.
These are examples of the sum total of good and evil; positive and negative; they cancel each other out; there is not + or - ; just ZERO.....nothingness....the balance/sum of the two.

When we became aware of good and evil; opposites; we lost the center. The mind can only process one thought at a time....like a computer....never two thoughts at a time....so we are always in one state or the other.

Think on this....the word in the Bible is "a hissing, a whisper, (a thought?)"; translated as snake. Basically, Eve had a thought; applied her 5 senses and decided she knew better....and all hell broke loose. There are many scriptures about our thoughts. This could be three books, but need to go.
Thinking - Of the three activities, thinking is the lowest activity. The mind’s job is ‘to think’, just think. TRUTH cannot be established by “thinking” because “for every thought there is an opposing thought”. It’s called “duality”, “double-mindedness”, an endless flowchart of options and alternatives. To counter a thought, you only need to ask, “Yeah, but what about the opposite view?”
Belief - Belief is when you think all your “thinking” has found the TRUTH. The endless flowchart of options has provided a solution with which you are satisfied is Truth. The person, who has done a lot of “thinking” often refers to this belief as FACT and declares the search for Truth is over! But, to counter a belief, you only need to ask, “Yeah, but are you really sure?” Loop back to “Thinking”.
Faith - Faith is revealed to you; without thought, without evidence, often without you even wanting and asking for it. Faith is a Revelation. A Knowing. It is not supported by reason (thinking) or by conviction (belief). But, you just know it is the TRUTH. You cannot defend it; define it; or explain it. It often sounds stupid if you repeat it; but you still can’t deny it…..you just know it’s the TRUTH. And if asked, “Yeah, but are you really sure?” Your response is an astounding, “Absolutely”. But you can choose to reject it…..you can always choose to reject TRUTH.
Let’s use the example of Adam and Eve.
Adam had a spoken Revelation directly from God, a "Knowing", “Don’t eat that.” It was a TRUTH. Perhaps Adam couldn’t explain it, defend it, define it, even agree with it; but it was TRUTH.
Adam had a ‘Faith System’. His only option was to reject it.
We don’t know how Eve learned to “Don’t eat that”, but she arrived on the scene after Adam was told, so we can assume Adam told her. This would not be a spoken revelation directly from God to Eve, but instructions conveyed to her from Adam, so Eve had to ‘believe’ Adam told her correctly.
Eve had a ‘Belief System”. Her only option was to change her belief.
Now, enters ‘thought’, hissing in Eve’s mind as she passed the tree…..”Are you sure that’s what God said? Are you sure Adam understood it correctly? Let’s ‘re-think’ this!”
As input into her ‘logical thinking process’, Eve used her five senses to judge the fruit. Eve began thinking and although, directly opposed to God’s view, she decided the fruit was good for food! She changed her belief, took a bite; gave it to Adam; Adam rejected the TRUTH and ate it.
Thought, for every thought, there is an opposing. The mind is always keeping you busy; holding you prisoner; controlling you; forcing you to bow to its whims and serve it.
But faith, the illogical and unprovable, literally blows the mind’s mind because the mind cannot…will not….refuses to….accept what is not logical or provable to it.
Faith by-passes the mind. Jehovah know, ”….the carnal mind is enmity against God:..” Romans 8:7

Hmmm, after creating temptation free creatures happily frolicing in the garden of eden, he uses the ultimate temptation to see if they really love him? That sounds like a clunky, half-baked free will scenario that an unstable parent would set up to see if her children will obey her.
With a freshly made chocolate cake on the kitchen table, and with her creepy and unstable little nephew hanging around with nothing better to do, she tells the boy and girl not to touch the cake. Then she pretends to leave the house to work in the garden. But she is actually peeking through the window. After much temptation, happily provided by the nephew, the children choose to have a piece of cake while watching Looney Tunes. Mom, seeing the discretion, storms back into the house, grabs the boy and girl, tosses them out onto the street, and slams the door behind her. As the boy and girl later wander the streets, she checks on them from time to time, band aiding their cuts, cleaning their faces, but not once considering letting them back into the home that she once provided for them.
Mom knew that they would choose the cake and their eventual fate at her hand, so why did she temp them with it in the first place? And when they failed, with their beautiful faces smeared with chocolate, why could she not forgive them, correct them and restore them to their home?
This scenario, patterned after the fall, doesn't sound at all like what an all knowing all wise and divine being would set up to get this important question answered. Why would he create temptation-free and happy creatures and place them into the garden of eden if he didn't want them that way?
