This Belton kid - the left tackle - is a really nice athlete. Easy mover. @ 5:21 watch him lose quickly with his hands but have the feet and the natural bend to recover and run the full hoop and push the edge past the quarterback. That is not easy.
He’s got a burst and the mentality of a finisher in the run game too. You can see he loves burying dudes.
He himself gets put on his butt a little too often though. He needs to add some strength. And he needs be more consistent with his footwork in terms keeping a wide base.
@ 9:24 nice job mirroring his guy here in space, but what I really like is when his quarterback breaks the pocket and come back to his side you see him burst down the field and look for someone to get in front of. Now there’s no one there really but you love the extra effort and energy of a guy who continues to look for work throughout a play.
On the other hand, @ 10:39 you see he still needs to find more consistency in terms of keeping his base wide, timing his feet with his hands, hand placement and pad level.
And again here @ 12:15, timing is way off, feet get really narrow and pads are high.
Coaching. He’s gonna need coaching. So then you gotta really dig into coachability and overall football character. But I really like the traits.
Yeah great call! I am with yah, when he gets it right with his base 9:24 as you mentioned, he looks great, has all the traits, solid arm length, looks like he has big hands as well, good heavy hands 5:08, 6:16, but I think worst case scenario is he is a solid guard if he cannot get better with his narrow base/occasionally stopping his feet missing his punch.
