When in Rome, I visited the Opera House for a performance of "LA Traviota"!!! T was spectacular and I cried. I am an Italian born in the USA, but felt right at home in that moment. I only wished I could have shared that moment with my Italian born father & his parents. That was 25 years ago & hearing Pavarotti today, still brings me to tears!!!

That was 40 years ago and to this day 8/23/2023 I enjoy listening to Mr. Pavarotti without hesitation. A truly gifted man who shared his love with music to all. I to wish I could have seen him in person.
My husband took me to Dallas to hear this voice of beautiful color and richness. How we wished the evening would never end. I hope heaven has him singing every night.

I took my mom to see him. She happily cried throughout this song. Then I took her to see Placido Domingo. At the gala afterwards she bolted away from me. A step further, we can only focus narrowly on this role as Prince Calaf and also just not to go outside Italy. There are long list of spinto and dramatic tenors that sings more fully and better fit for this role.

Agree! One thing I can say about my age and fortune. I got to see the three tenors live and Elvis too! Lol. Simply amazing voice. I am still dazzled by Pavarotti every time I listen to him. That such a thing can come out of a person is truly astonishing.
With his powerful voice, everyone in the opera house can hear him without a microphone. None needed. Rest In Peace kind man. You gave the world your voice and the world responded.

Young Pavarotti has gorgeous voice, there are other grand tenors that are less known but more and better fit for this role.

@@22jaydogg May not be the greatest Calaf, he is a grand one in the 70 and 80's. Ambassador of Opera. There might be those who are technical enough to consider him not the best fit this role. World knows him mainly on this aria though.

@ANITA Ospedale It is only voice and singing that we are all only focusing on, there is no personal loyalty or any other factors. A step further, we can only focus narrowly on this role as Prince Calaf and also just not to go outside Italy. There are long list of spinto and dramatic tenors that sings more fully and better fit for this role.
Love to see virtually all the members of the orchestra joining in the applause...very unusual!
