The Shining while not a faithful adaption is my favorite, mainly because Kubrick turned up the insanity and gave us those beautiful dolly shots.

I do love that movie but I feel like it's more of Kubrick's then Stephen Kings but I guess He was the source, I forget. Cooper definitely enhanced his book.

My favorite Steven King to movie adaptations would be The Mist. Loved how they refrained from showing the creatures long enough to build suspense. Also...that ending.

My favorite Stephen King book to movie was "The Green Mile". I loved the way the film was presented as a historical fiction with a fairy tale quality. It also illustrated that King is not only a great horror author but can write compelling stories in different genres and I think the film was loyal to that.

That’s awesome that WB sent you that! It’s great to see WB getting a win with the fans (looking at you Zack Snyder’s Justice League). My favorite SK adaptation is the Shining because whenever I watch that movie I just get brought back to that era that the movie was made in.

Agreed cool they did that BUT lol you would think that would know to send the little " SIX inch long rock hammer " like in the film Not a bloody great big lump hammer , very much doubt you could stash that my thing in a Bible ?!?
At least the art work on the standard release is a million times better than most steel books out there.
It's personal but It's hard for me to separate " the green mile and the Shawshank redemption " 👍

The best Stephen King movie is probably Stand By Me. Fun Fact: The short story was actually published in the same anthology as The Shawshank Redemption. Two of the best Stephen King movies are based on the same book, and two are by the same director. Rob Reiner also directed Misery, another favourite. Don’t forget Frank Darabont though, who directed The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist, also great.

I read Carrie in an afternoon once, the books pretty short I believe. I was glued to it, loved it. Then I watched the movie, it was spot on.
Another adaptation I thought was perfect was Thinner. I literally envisioned everything that was put on the screen, it was magical.
So sad there's never been an adaptation of Insomnia, some of the imagery in that book was terrifying, I'd love to see a horror movie version.

My favorite SK book to film is a tie between The Shining and the original Carrie, both masterpieces by master filmmakers De Palma and Kubrick. The Shining also happens to be my all time favorite horror flick, but I will choose Carrie for this post because it’s a more faithful adaptation of the book and in my opinion, along with Blow Out and Dressed to Kill, put De Palma on the map as the rightful successor to Alfred Hitchcock: Those of you who are familiar with these 3 films will also know a few ingredients they all share.😎

Hi Jeff, great channel, I just subscribed, although I’ve been watching your channel for a few months now.
I love The Shawshank Redemption, it’s my favorite King adaptation. I use to watch it with my family every Christmas, I know not exactly a holiday film, but I feel it shows the true strength of the human spirt. I also have noticed your Black Dog shirts, love the brew, I live in Newburyport and enjoy it often. Congrats on the baby.

First: Thinner, one of the most faithful adoptions ever. Second: thank you for the insightful review. I still have the DVD version so I didn't know how bad the bluray transfer was.

My favorite Stephen King book-to-movie adaptation is probably the black and white version of The Mist. Thanks for the chance to win Shawshank in 4K. :)
