@@TheSreejith5 I have been using Shell advance ultra, no regrets. I suggest you Use Motul 7100, and it depends on where you are riding(city, highway etc), How much rpm...riding style etc(>6000 OR around 5000). Fully synthetic oil, helps on long rides and higher rpm. Else try semi synthetic for casual city rides.
Hi, as this is an oil cooled engine, what about the dirty oil from the oil cooler. Is there a bleed valve to let that oil out? And afterwards how do you bleed the trapped air out of the cooler to ensure there’s no air locks that stop the engine from getting the cooling oil it needs when running?
Examining the working closely, the oil actually is filtered before reaching the cooler so there will not be any dirt accumulating on the oil cooler. Secondly, since the oil circulation is in a closed loop(atleast theoritically), I think so there are going to be no air pockets formed, provided the sump is filled with oil in the suction area.
According to the usage, one would clean and lube the chain once in 500 (or greater) kms if the climatic conditions are perfect and if one is using good quality chain lube. If you’re someone like me who uses oil as a lubricant, you must lube it regularly whenever the chain is dry, and clean it whenever it is covered in road grime and dirt. Plus oil is not that dense or sticky. Therefore if using oil, one must be ready to face oil stains and hence attracted dirt on the wheel rim as well. If you’re not a busy person and have enough time to clean and lube every 100-200 kms or so(based on the environment). Typical mineral oil is not a bad idea as well.
Yeah the backlash between the gears or the chain/sprocket seems to be off sometimes. so I noticed some sloppiness in the acceleration and deceleration cycles. Hence set it that way
I use Gixxer 250 and after my 20k service there is a change in noise near air filter. I asked to check again but they could not find it and concluded that everything is fine, but it is not. Any idea what might be the issue. .…? Engine oil used is 10w40. Motorcycle slightly sounding like it is running without air filter.
Open up the rider's seat and check weather the air filter is fitted properly and is sealed. if the old clogged air filter is changed to new, you might experience the sound of a freshly breathing engine. If this is the case its totally fine.
Its a good practice to change oil filter during every oil change. some manufacturers request oil filter change for every second oil replacement. since oil filters are pretty affordable for these motorcycles, might as well change it for every oil change.
My Manual says first 3000km on both my GSX250SF then every 3000km after. But first is most important which is why i take it to the shop because they do more than just a oil change on first service they checked timing chain etc to ensure its all mated properly and flush also doing it yourself can void warranty.
hey i tried changing the oil today. what i found is that i might have poured about 1400 ml according to the bottle measurement and the oil level is still below the low mark . do you know how much you might have poured into it?
Thanks! It has clocked just shy of only 15 k kms so far and no issues from the engine till now. It has started in a single tap of the button except for once where it kind of didn’t. I hopefully will cover all the information in a full review.
Informative video Sir. Please tell me about Clutch And Gear Shift. I heard from others that Gixxer 250 anf 250 SF comes with hard clutch and stiff suspension. Please reply 🙏🙏🙏
Yeah the clutch is stiff and the gear shifts are pretty hard. It feels like an old sports bike gearbox(say the old r6). You’ll hear the hard clunk each time you shift gears. The suspension seems very stiff especially when you’re riding solo(the rear one is on a much stiffer setting) but for me its fine because, I like the feedback it gives but its not comfy in bad roads.
You can ask any mechanics weather they’ll take it or you can use it for lubrication of door hinges or to prevent rust in metal surfaces at home. I also use it for our house gate wheel rollers so it stays smooth. You can also slightly hide scratches from painted surfaces with the oil temporarily so try any of these.
I once say a guy abuse engine hard of sf 250 told me he still get mileage of 33kmph asked him which oil he puts he told me some suzuki ecstar Bullshit oil. I told him put Racing oil by the way he drives.
I think there are no non-return valves employed here. so the oil will dump onto the sump if you let it rest for a while due to gravity, But not exactly sure.
Hey bro, my 4th service is pending and i bought 2 bottles of 300v 10w40. Do you think mechanic will add this oil since they recommend only ecstar. I have called them but they said to come there and ask them in workshop. Service centre is 70kms away from my area and it will be waste of time if they rejected my demand for 300v.
It depends on the service people. Heard that in some centers they do it. If you have spare time left, try giving it a shot yourself. But at the end, take note of the warranty policy.
@@megamind5774 Hello, am from Meerut. i am in love with every inch of this bike. It’s also my first bike that I purchased from my hard earned money (6years of savings) so it will always have a special place in my heart. Bike has the juice at every RPM! You can cruise whole day with the bike at 85kmph….gives you best mileage of 40kmpl around 80kmph. It has solid build quality. My bike fell 2 times because of carelessness as am a beginner. NOT EVEN A SINGLE SCRATCH. Negatives:- gear shifts are hard with that clunky sound, clutch is tight, horn is scooty-type, and small visor (horn and visor problem can be solved with little mods, so not a problem) Bike is super smooth and wants you to pull the throttle as hard as you can. It’s very comfortable for pillion and obese rider like me (am 5ft7inch and weigh around 86kgs). It’s big bulky and you get attention from 8 out of 10 people BECAUSE you don’t see gixxers on roads too often. Now the service part: Bike doesn’t create problems. It’s highly reliable. Clocked around 8k KMS, no issue till now. It doesn’t need heavy maintenance. I just clean the chain every 500-600kms and just follow my daily ride routine . Service centres are pretty good in most of the cities. But considering that you have to travel 130km for servicing, I recommend you to visit the SVC and ask the people their if they are satisfied. Sometimes parts become an issue but suzuki tries to solve it and that’s good. It doesn’t have any fancy features like KTM…just a simple machine, with purpose of commuting, bringing a smile on your face every time you overtake someone on highway :)
@@blackbrute2504 well put reply. Ok, I will ask about the service centre quality and then make a decision. Also what could be other practical bike for middle class (hard earned cash ) around 150-250cc ? It will be my first bike and I intend to keep it for long.. really long time..
Overall its good. Since I haven’t tested it with the motul one, I simply cannot comment on the difference. The engine vibrates just like how it was prior and no difference in that aspect. The gear shifts are also quite hard to depress but you get that tactile feel when you shift and thats nice. There is no oil loss when draining and no false neutrals. May be ill try motul next time and compare it. So its a good experience for the price at which it is offered.
@@imfaith99 i'm using motul 7100 since first service and gear shifts have become very smooth. Engine is smoother, still some vibes are there, more like a buzz than vibration. The only downside of motul i can say is that the bottom end torque has decreased a bit and the exhaust note is minimized.
@@imfaith99 yes, with motul 7100 there is oil drop. Around 100-150ml at 3000km run. It is worth the premium if you ride at higher speeds, because at higher speeds, there are no vibes at all with motul, and it pulls very cleanly from the mid range. Gear shift experience is very good for city traffic, offers good mileage too. All this i'm comparing with the suzuki ecstar oil. I haven't tried castrol or any other oil.
@@hariskhan07 May be I’ll switch to motul next time. I don’t do higher speeds all the time. I’ll have to try it for the gear shifts tho. How come oil can vaporize is my doubt, and how water mixes with oil to vaporize? Or is the engine burning oil?
After first service of my gixxer sf250 from authorized service center, why does the engine not feel relaxed. As if its revving too much and not enough power is being produced? Pls guide
Yes, the one right is the old leftover oil used for 1st service (like before 3 months). It only takes 1.2L but i had to buy 2 bottles for the first time because 1.2 L doesn’t seem to be available. So for the second service, I bought only one and thats the one without the castrol logo embossment.
If one keeps the engine speed below 6k rpm and cruise at 6th gear continuously, one might get an average of slightly more than 40kmpl which is quite good. But if you’re a person who shifts very aggressive at say 8 or 9k rpm for most gears then its a totally different story, you’ll hardly get 30kmpl.
Isn’t the valve clearance of shim comes after 70-80k odo …..wondering ? At least it’s not have dlc coated tapper rollers but shim type rockers arm of gixxer 250 should last quite a thousand of miles to get the clearance checked
Shim type rollers cannot be that easily serviced at home. And At least you’ll be needing a vernier or micrometer to measure the size. Also you’ll have to remove the rocker assembly which will end up in removing most of the fuel tank parts or sometimes even removing the engine from the frame. But in case of conventional screw type just insert a feeler and adjust it and you’re good to go. Plus in shim type buying shims of respective sizes is quite difficult if looking aftermarket and quite expensive as well. But these issues come only after long engine hours, so not that necessary to worry.
Pretty useful and awesome , Faith !!
Thanks!
Shell advance ultra, awesome experience...gixxer engine loves it, rider loves it. Much much better experience than ecstar. Such a smooth ride 😌.
