- I gave Andrew a disconnected undercut haircut that is blended in the back. I used a #2 guard up to a 3 1/2. The back is blended in and goes from 1 inch to about 6-7 inches on top.

So if I want this cut. I would say:
- Disconnected undercut
- Use a 2 guard up to a 3 1/2
- Leave about 4 inches on top (I prefer 4)
- blended in back

Props to you. You understand the required elements quite well and that shows as the haircut came out looking on point even when the length you had to work with was a little shorter.
im on my third round now of cutting my fiancé's hair. first two times he just had me wing it but now that his roots have grown out enough (i help him dye his disconnected top section) we can finally fix a botched disconnect line in the back so i want to do it right. turns out ive been pretty dang close on the steps to take but i was making a lot more work for myself because i didn't know some of these techniques. thanks for such a thorough explanation of why you do each step and not just how to do it

Nice to see someone do an undercut that's actually connected in the back. So many rooster tails walking around these days and it bums me out. Even once you convince a client that it's the better option, the transition period can be a long and frustrating one for them. Great job getting this knowledge out there for other hair cutters.

I really appreciate what you do and as a cosmetology graduate, its really helpful to watch these. You repeated yourself a lot in this video though lol. Regardless still extremely helpful video. (I also have an undercut but my hair is curly so its a pain to style what would you recommend?)

I also wish he'd actually shown the other side. A side parting is an obvious disconnection but I was searching for a tutorial showing the other disconnected undercut side. Does he create and cut to another parting on the other side and then the hair hangs over it? How does he cut the perimeter on the other side? I guess we'll never know. I get asked to do these cuts a lot and I have to kind of make it up on the spot. Always looks ok in the end but I've no idea what I'm doing and the levels of stress are unbearable

Is this the only haircut you can do what about the lineup, can you even cut a skin fade if you know what it is

To taper it and bring it in so it’s not puffy, you should go straight up with the clipper or scissor over comb?
Clipper straight to the part then scissor over comb if needed.

Man I wish I could find a barber who pays attention to detail like this.. numerous times has the back of my head not been done right and it the back looks flat I have to start over almost every time .. any advice to give to my barber ? I could possibly not explain it to him right ..

Andrew, do you have any model who are Asians? Cause for us Asian viewers, we can never seem to get the haircut because our hairs are too spiky on the sides. How do you prevent that?
High and tight fade on Asian hair works well. Depending on what you want doing to the top mind.

If you're blending the undercut into the top, how is this disconnected ??
I’m blending certain parts. Anything that is obviously longer and not connected is disconnected. You could blend the back and still have the top disconnected.
