All MG ever needed was a better production, now it looks like that’s happened, and 50 years later it almost feels like we have a new Lennon album to enjoy.
I love the album and cannot wait for the remix. You refer to the 2002 MG cd, I have it and I agree with you, the go-to #1. I also have Imagine and POB from that same time (2000-02) and ditto, excellent. Good job Matt.

Matt, thanks so much for this vid, your enthusiasm is infectious my friend, just to give you the heads up that Uncut Magazine has just published the august issue, John is on the cover and is featured heavily and comes with a free mini magazine that reviews every Lennon album, but that's not the best bit, it comes with a free CD, a 9 track sampler from the box set authorised by the Lennon estate, including I'm the greatest which was only until now available on the Mind Games EP for RSD back in April. I've got The box set, the 2 CD and the 2LP pre ordered, hopefully it will all arrive on release day and in the same package. My summer is spoken for now, deep diving into this baby. I can't wait. For some reason my excitement levels for this are on par with the releases of Now and Then and The Revolver Box Set from almost, can you believe two years ago... The first Solo Lennon album I got was Shaved Fish, but like yourself I first got Mind Games on cassette, great memories and great times... But this was back in the mid to late 70's while John was on his haitus from the music business...
Disappointed for you Matt that you haven't had a free copy like others. You have more subscribers than some others who have received it and you're a positive channel. Hopefully you'll get better luck in the future.

I’m only around 60-70% Beatles content. You would think they’d want someone more balanced, but that’s up to them. I’m happy to pay my own way. No freebies needed nor requested, cheers 🍻
I am really looking forward to Mind Games as well Matt. I never noticed that it had a poor mix. And I find the songs more accessible than any of John's previous recordings - not as personal as Plastic Ono Band, not as biting, - Imagine got smoother in some song presentations but has How Do You Sleep, which I find kind of dated - Some Time In New York City was kind of a mess (in my opinion) due to the whole approach to the News and the horrible jams. So even though John and Yoko were solidifying their break up (it didn't happen all of a sudden in my opinion), John's songwriting and ability to write pop(ish) tunes was very much there on Mind Games. He even wrote a couple really excellent rockers. So even when I first heard it many, many, years ago, I thought it was a relief to hear after listening to John's previous records. I think the first version I had was a promo copy that I traded a friend for something I had. I forget what I traded. Doesn't matter now. Anyway, I am really looking forward to July 12th. I'm not a huge fan of "Mind Games", but I like it. I think I'm just going to go with the Uncut Magazine bonus CD, and the 2 CD edition for this album. I like the next John Lennon album, "Walls And Bridges" much more, so I will get the big box set for that one, if it happens next year.

Hello Matt, I am excited to hear this news remix. I have watched a few of these videos for the new album nobody has mentioned the 2010 release that came in the John Lennon box I only own that on lol. I liked this album too? The only weird thing was Yoko as the mountain in the background. I am buying the cd version from deep discount. The price for $ 26.00 dollars is a good price for it. I want to get the six cd version but I can wait a while for it.

Sorry, Matt, but I've never been a fan of this one, I think the songs are weak and the production very muddy. I'm glad Spector wasn't involved; however, I've never liked anything he's done. George Martin's clean, tasteful production may have helped here. You're right about the 2012 version, which is considerably better than the original. I will buy the new lp, however, when it comes out. I'll be really excited when they do Walls and Bridges, which is I think his strongest album.
I hear ya. It’s not for everyone. After the abysmal Sometime in NYC, it was a breath of fresh air. Holds a place for me because I got attached to it at a young age. 😎👍❤️☘️😊🙏

The new remix is fantastic, although I still need to listen to all of the bonus material. Unlike you, growing up I never bought the album but heard it because of my brother owning it, so I didn't have the same connection... It is almost like a new Lennon album for me, except for three or four songs and it is a beautiful album.

Most are before track one on the CD's. You have to rewind before the song "Mind Games". The Blu-Rays work different to find the hidden tracks.
