This also lends itself to that strange sound of him sustaining that unison note. Sounds like he's using a unique effect pedal when he has that quiet delay in that background. 3:12 sounds strangely similar to a violin!!
@@yupzoneoops, I meant the pog 2, the pedal by electro-harmonix. There’s a video somewhere where he explains what he uses it for. Interesting sound for sure!
@@alexenscoe9730 I seriously couldn't tell if it was just his hands or something. There's a similar "violin" fx in some old zoom pedal I have but this sounded really good. I'll definitely check it out! Thx!
My teacher used to call it the cheat step. Cuz it feels like you shouldn't be able to do that lol. Swtching what finger your fretting a note with even with it still ringing.
It's an exercise and a concept. It's just taking advantage of a held note to position shift. This is a concept that you can use in service of making music.
ok imma say it. or ask it actually I guess. Is Kurt the Jimi of Jazz guitar? I know thats like a question that can make 1000 internet discussion ships set sail but like... what in the actual fuck is going on here ...
Kurt with the extended extended techniques
Every guitarist: I seen any possible technique exercise
Kurt: Hold my beer

OMG!
Pat Martino did this as well

Awesome. Is this a specific technique of Kurt's? Or is it played by other guitarists before him?
Any chance there are tabs available for this stuff?

This shits too crazy bruh
Impossible!

What kind of effect is being used? It sounds like a delay and maybe some kind of compression?
Delay and his hands
I believe he often uses the POG 2 pedal along with the delay. (edit: POG not Pod)
@@prettyfunbird thank you!
