Such timing getting into the tent! Hard to have been better. And new shoes too, along with Mexican and trail angel. You do live well (for a certain value of "live" of course.) And the next morning, your coffee was flavored with tears of JOY, I'll bet! Hike on, with a spring in your step and padding underneath the feet., Cheers, Tortoise
I'm so glad that the "sheep-related" traffic jam didn't prevent the new shoes from reaching you. The shot of your tent under the string of lights was a really nice ending to the video. Hopefully, you will meet many more kind, helpful people along the way. Good luck and thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the information. So much of it will help me on my journey. I start June 1st walking from the Coast of Oregon to the coast of South Carolina. The details you are discussing have modified my plans and gear drastically. Much appreciated.
Hey Matt! One day last week we had hail, may have been this one you're in. We're 70 miles from Evansville, will be able to help with transport. Got back from Houiser NF today after 4 nites at Buzzard Roost.
And finally ...NEW SHOES ! Nice one , you made me remember another of your videos : Taters the bovine baiter . Thanks for al your video-work. Keep on trekking.
Mosquitos the lightweight fiend! Maybe tornados are transporting them up ? You poor man ticks, mosquitos, farm protectors barking ceaselessly announcing your arrival...Maybe the new shoes will bring you super repellent powers...however was that ever a beautiful clip with you as a shepherd with the cows happily following....it looked like a Hollywood scene, just needed a soundtrack, you singing as you went in your merry way .Cool transition! Then onward! You found some visual tidbits of nope today.. the stairs over the fence that separated in the weather (always hated those things) But roads are much quieter, mellow....Safer..
Have you seen or heard of any thru hikers on the Buckeye trail while you’ve been out there. Looks really quiet. In terms of people, not trains that is. Enjoyed the video and glad you finally got your new shoes. -Geo
Thanks for sharing your adventures I enjoy follow them. C&o canal is a great trail full of knowledge and information about the engineering marvels of our history. Pack rash it the worse. Hikes into Maine with an infected back. Hope it gets better you got a bit to go. ❤
Another nice video. I think that amonia in sweat indicates a medical condition but can't remember what(I plead oldtimers). Happy Trials. Good Luck, Rick
I think I remember Costitine Hiking America going through this. HURRY FOR NEW SHOES!!! God I know how that gravel can hurt. I couldnt amagine how your feet feel.
It’s not my sweat smelling like ammonia. It’s specifically the clothing when they’ve been damp and I can’t dry them overnight. Happens pretty much every time it’s humid like this. Pretty sure I have a decent mix diet wise
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes Even if you have a good mix in the diet, the body will consume the carbs first, and then if carbs are insufficient to cover the energy requirements the body turns to proteins to produce energy by breaking them down into amino acids and the rest is excreted through urine and sweat as ammonia. Given your energy requirements, this is not surprising that you would have some slightly elevated ammonia excretion that would be easier to smell due to the inhibited evaporation under enclosed, humid conditions in the tent.

Keep 💪💪💪
It's amazing how far a person can go just by walking everyday. You are making good progress on your hike.
One occasionally slow and painful step at a time :)
Day 34. Puppy accident clean ups. Tasty coffee. Trail looks “snakey!” Also amazed at how rural this WV and OH section appears to be.

Nope. Closest I’ve come is some sign ins on registered from people out for a day. The only new farout comments are from far away
We have more section hikers on the Buckeye trail than thru hikers. We have a handful of thru hikers each summer.
Awesome trail angel✌️😎
Glad the new shoes were brought by a trail Angel, thanks to her. Hope all is well. Hike on to San Francisco.

I should try to use tears as coffee creamer.
Would insoles make any difference when shoes get that worn down?
If your sweat is smelling like ammonia, your diet may have too much protein in it. Are you getting enough carbs in the mix?

Isnt there more deaths by cow per year than bear?
More people die of constipation than from bear attacks. 😂
I think that over-powering smell like ammonia, is actually ammonia.
you will be in bug heaven for the next 4 states
Looks like a lot of hikers don't follow the red line here trail don't look real established ???
Buckeye trail isn’t heavily trafficked and the NCT and ADT even less so
