Wow how things have changed, I remember the days of scunthorpe saints when it was nothing but a pair of leathers,this has been a great insight into the changes and thank God for those as these guys really do need them as they literally risk their lives each race, thanks for this great service we don't get enough coverage of this amazing sport
Amazing progress toward rider safety. I remember when there was nothing but normal underwear under the leathers, puddingbowl helmets, and "flickers" mounted on helmet peaks. Not to mention exposed primary chains and the occasional steel "safety" fence!
I’d be interested to here about tires for speedway. Tread patterns, air pressures, radial/bias ply? Etc. I gather there has been some controversy on this too .....

Oh yes! Stuff for the tough. Nothing to prove, therefore pink goggles and dayglo helmets don't bother them ;)
