Tatum's technical videos are brilliant. He explains speedway like Carl Sagan explains the universe. I wish more of my university professors had been as good as he is at lecturing.
Interesting video Kelvin. It’s long enough to keep your interest and concise enough for you to get the point of the topic. I didn’t imagine a speedway bike’s carburettor looking like that. It looks like an expensive piece of kit!
There's lots more to know about carbs, too. For example the altitude of the track plays into it. I've also heard that some folks have introduced water into the tank in order to change the power characteristics of the engine. (Nitro does the opposite...but it's banned) Cheers
It is great to see some of the hidden parts of modern speedway machines but I would have liked a little more detail regarding the changes a rider might make during a meeting, why and what?
Hi from New Zealand,I would like to convert an early J.A.P speedway carburetor to run on petrol.Have you any information on this please?Do i just need to change the jetting or the mixture body as well, and can it be converted to needle on the slide? Regards Graeme
Carbs!
Just one more thing to love about speedway racing
Keeping it so pure and traditional and mainly about the riders’ skills.

love this, got the right balance between taking simple enough so we understand, but not dumbing it down so much hes speaking to us like idiots

Love this info
Methanol fuel normally needs a higher flow jet in the carburettor.
Nice Video Keep It Up
I understand what you're saying about carb setup, but what about airflow?
Should be 38mm. Big kids need a big carb.
I’m in need of one of the 38mm carbs. Anyone have one since they are no longer allowed?
Who laid the first engine down , Do you know,
I suppose you could say some of the very first speedway bikes were laydowns like the douglas twin nothing is really new just refined over many years.
What fuel do these bikes run ? Is it a high octane race fuel , ethanol or ?
Methanol
Gods P.A - Book
And it smells so good on race day !
Is that a lectron ?
Why not use fuel injection?
I'm waiting for polish subtitles. Not becauese I don't know english, but becauese I don't know technical english
No, you Poles don't need to know any more than you do. You're already the best in the world! Cheers.
@@peterwrooke Thank you, but I'm not a rider, non a mechanic, just a regular normal guy who wish to know something more :D
Can't really blame them for taking our sport seriously can we ;)
Has fuel injection ever been tested on a speedway bike?
