    The Fall of the Byzantines is actually a great parallel to how those Roman ideas/texts got lost in the first place. When the Western Roman Empire fell to the "barbarians", prominent citizens who were of value and could manage to flee did so by fleeing to the Eastern Roman Empire, which was already Roman and had those ideas/similar texts in Greek. So the west lost a lot of value and valuable thinkers. Then with time came peace and with peace came increased artistry and thinking, and then when the Eastern Roman Empire started falling the same people of value migrated again, but back to Italy where things had calmed down.

  • @connorrivers995
    @connorrivers995 5 часов назад +2

    I think another reason was the general location. The Italian city states and the Papal States were built on the corpses of the Roman Empire and a lot of those city states were republics that tended to follow a model similar to the Roman Republic that came before the Empire. Because of this that had better access to the architectural and sculptural remains of roman art and began incorporating it and roman philosophy into their art and writing. You can see this in the pre-renaissance era art that was coming about before the Black Death such as The Divine Comedy and The Sienese School of Art, particularly in works such as The Allegory of Good and Bad Government.
