Trying to learn mastercam 2018. I've brought an image in. But I can't extruder because the lines aren't connected. What is the fastest way to join all the lines to extrude. Thanks for a good video.
outstanding however I am confused about using engrave and not contour. Using engrave it seems like all the nice options then go away. Should I stick with engrave?
Well, it depends on what your trying to do. Typically, if i am engraving something that i am only going to go right down the center, i will use contour and turn my cutter comp off so it goes right down the center. I also turn lead in and lead out off when doing this. The only time I use engrave is when i want to add some of those pockets in like in my example. Contour cannot do that. However a pocket routine could but the engrave feature just seems easier. Hope this helps and i am glad you like my video. Ill try to start adding some more someday when i get some time. Lol
Rick, try saving or exporting the auto cad file as either a .dwg or .dxf file. Then you should be able to open either of those formats in mastercam. Good luck
Well, I am pretty sure in that example i used a fine line and arc fit selection so all of those jagged corners are what you are seeing when you zoom in (i think). However, those segments are very small and unless you were cutting something real big you would never see them. If you used a wire EDM you probably would see the steps. However, i try to use the spline fir option first because that comes in the smoothest but I never have too much luck with that option unless its a pretty basic drawing. Hope that helps
The start of a legend.
Thank you Sir, good voice and good video too

How would you make the toolpath if the contour show be above the bottom of the plate?
how do you import autocad sketch into mcam 2017?

All of the wireframe is in splines. Still comes out good?
