Don’t label yourself as boring. I’m 63 and have struggled with thinking the same thing about myself. However, with age comes a little bit of wisdom. I now think of myself as uniquely low key and try to remember the quote, “Just be yourself - everyone else is taken”. Consider that I’m a new subscriber because of your creative content! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻💪🏻🤗😉

You are someone I would very much enjoy having as a friend or neighbor. Introverts love to spend time doing their own thing, but will talk with like-minded folk about shared passions. I love your old house(s), vintage clothing, antiques, etc. in addition to your artistic, yet practical approach to garden design. I use 7ft tall black iron trellises bolted to tall garden beds as tomato cages. I have 12 ft tall columnar cactus as the backdrop to my rose garden because they were already there. Roses in containers because of clay soil And yes, citrus here in So. CA., plus olive trees, sage, and bougainvillea. Despite your disinterest in novels, you are a gifted storyteller, which enhances the garden advice immensely. Dark chocolate all the way!

I was named after a 70s song by "Bread." You can have all the dark chocolate; I will take the milk chocolate! I'm also very introverted. What, bananas? More for me :) I mostly read nonfiction, especially science, nature, gardening... I loved Of Mice and Men and I used to do ceramics. I dream of having my own kiln and making my own pots. I also fantasize of living off grid. My favorite flower is probably gladiolus, but I never saw a flower I didn't like. I love peonies, ranunculus, etc. I looked at moving to somewhere in Northern California, like maybe near San Jose. Same reasons. I was an army brat, so I did live in California in middle school...near Monterey (on base) and then near King City. When you shared this, I already thought we were kindred spirits. I enjoy the personality you add to your videos with music, recipes, and insights. Keep sharing! I thought about making a RUclips channel, but I seriously couldn't record myself. I felt so weird and self conscious. I tried repeatedly, but it freaked me out. I may try again later. I'm a teacher and talk to groups all the time, but it's different.... I am so glad you put yourself out there. God bless!

I live in a small country on the Balkans and i'm completely in love with my little garden, it gives me so much joy to care about plants. I once had a friend, an old lady who lived in the neighbourhood who used to teach me a lot about plants, and she had a magnificent garden but specialised in growing lemons. Your videos remind me of the time I have spent with her. You are a true artist when it comes to gardening, it is not just about gardening, it is about finding harmony and making your garden a holy sanctuary for the soul. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and love with us everyday, you inspire us. 🙂🌿
Random confession: if i ever found a person like you in my country i would like to share this love for gardening and nature and art with them... I couldn't imagine anything more fulfilling than spending my life next to a person like you and growing a garden together, but i guess it will be hard to find where i live .
Lol, i think i have a little crush on you to be completely honest. 😊
Wish you all the best with your plants and continue to inspire us, we appriciate it! 🙂🙂

when I first started looking for gardening channels I was looking for kind and considerate people. that's what I found in you.
you give the ultimate gift of sharing your experiences and what you know in your garden either through your own research, or trial and error and that's irreplaceable.
every day someone somewhere gets up wanting to try gardening for whatever reason they have for themselves and you provide that helping hand.
I hear so many people say they don't want to bore people with what may seem to be the same old same old but even if It's one person that gets up and wants to learn then it will never be the same old same old because one more person has been helped.
I use to think I was the only one that didn't know how to garden but you can bank there is someone out there that thinks that too lol so at least by watching you I know I'm not alone in that department lol!
you bring a special type "Zen" to what you share so from me to you THANK YOU😀👍

I hate to break it to ya, Siloe, but I think many of us had already surmised that you are the quiet type, lol. Congrats on screwing your courage to the sticking point and completing this video! I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about you. Btw, my son lives in Ventura, CA, where it must be mandatory to have an orange tree and an avocado tree in one's yard. Truly a bit of paradise, but the cost of living there is to the moon. Thanks again for sharing a bit of yourself with us.

Wow, I never heard of that before about Ventura. CA. Wow. I think that is amazing. I wish all cities would impart rules on having fruit trees planted in every yard and city park. Fruit trees should line every city. The fruit could be given to food shelves if not eaten. It is such a shame this is not standard practice everywhere yet.
So many cities are too hot with out shade and this would be perfect solution to start lowering temps

    • @jeanettewaverly2590

@@Amywazwaz06 I was exaggerating about the fruit trees. There’s no law! It just seems that an overwhelming majority of Ventura landscapes include them.

    • @serenajo2470
      @serenajo2470 Год назад

@@ghtbb If you actually read her comment, you’d see she was being facetious when she said it must be mandatory. It was pretty clear to me that she was exaggerating and implying that having fruit trees in your yard is so common in Ventura that you’d think it’s a law. It’s understandable to misunderstand someone through text, especially when they’re being facetious, but that doesn’t make her a liar.

I am also a happy introvert but I don't like staying at home. I love being in the car and exploring different areas without having to deal with chitchat. I'm in the process at 65 years old of starting a cottage garden. It's a little more creaky to move around but just hearing the birds and the gentle winds blowing while I tend to the garden is worth it.

This was quite enjoyable and I appreciate you doing it. As a child living in Quito, Ecuador our cooks made fried bananas almost every morning for breakfast. They sliced them thin and lengthwise and cooked them in a skillet with butter. The bananas were sweeter than those in the states so they would caramelize a bit and were absolutely heavenly. You should try them🍌🍌🍌I still make them and if the bananas aren't very sweet I add a few granules of brown sugar to the pan. Best wishes from New Mexico.🌶🌶🌶

Hi Siloe'. Thanks for sharing so much about yourself. I can't say that anything you shared came as a surprise for me. Maybe I have lived a long time and have known so many people that I have developed an ability to recognize personality traits in people or maybe it's that in your videos you come across as being just who you have said you are. I've owned a business for 35 years in DC and have had to make "small talk" in order to do business BUT I see it as the hardest part of my work. I hate small talk except when I am talking with my neighbors' children. But while they may be small they are brutally honest and candid. I love that.
I also can't think of anyplace I'd rather be than at home. I've traveled all over Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, and Central America. I love Costa Rica and hope to retire there some day but until then I'll spend as much time in my garden as I can.
I have several kinds of fig plants in my garden. There are lots of figs that will do well in the Baltimore area. I'll be more than happy to share some of my plant starts with you if you'd like some. They are easy to grow and they produce LOTS of figs.

Hey you sound like me! I'm an introvert that hates small talk too.dark chocolate should be the only kind of chocolate! Math was my favorite but hated science and history! I'm so upset I don't get PBS on DirecTV. Never broken a bone either! *high five*. Thank you for not tagging me to do this! LOL

No wonder I enjoy your channel. I’m an introvert, too. You need to take a road trip of the National Parks. Nature fills your soul.

You have so much to offer, things that you like, the info in your head and where your from. I rarely comment but I believe your even a caring person tho you don't like red that is a color of love. We see how much you love gardening. I take to heart what you say even living in FL I must add or subtract in time for our zone difference. I would also say you are an "old soul". We all appreciate what you do on YT and what you have to say. Keep it up. Wear dark shades!

@@suburbanhomestead Did it feel like being sprayed with a cold water hose? Shocking, I think everyone needs a wake up call. Even when you are in a room full of people there is at least one person that would love to pick your brain. As everyone is saying in the comments you have so many common qualities.
When occupied with what you love doing you get lost in the moment but when having to do things you just ain't crazy about, the brain takes you to places your heart desires.
I wouldn't think Northern CA as your choice maybe Southern, TX, GA or FL with coming from Brazil.
Stay focused and love what you do.

This was very cool that u put urself out there like that. I've been off grid for two yrs.... all I can say is, if its in your heart..... jump!!!!!! sounds corny but, the universe will catch you ♥ and dang .... totally love your garden... but more, the ease in which you appear to approach it. I get so anxious and watching you just try things not fully knowing the outcome eases that. Mother Earth needs permaculture warriors and you have the talent to teach and be a leader. A'ho

A very pleasant and well produced channel. I was wandering if you were from Portugal or Brazil. São Paulo city is a great place to be when you're young. But when you get older you miss peace and quiet. I moved to Campinas last year - it is not a small town, and it is the second greenest Brazilian city. Cheers.

Thank you so much. São Paulo does have a weird draw to it, that is only perfectly described in Caetano Veloso’s Sampa.

My heart goes out to you! I’m so similar. Funny how because people like us rarely go out and “small talk” we don’t know how many of us there are. (I loathe small talk too.) Have you read Quiet? It’s excellent. When I was little, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, if I had answered honestly I would have said a person living in a hammock and enjoying the sun and breeze. As a kid, I was so confused as to why everyone worked all day, giving their time away, when they could just grow their own food and put that work into themselves. I am definitely part of “mainstream” society now, but I still hold some of those views. In spirit, at least. And mostly now, I focus my energies on my little piece of earth. Even when I’m working, my heart is outside in the garden.

Just found your channel and I'm excited to follow a fellow Maryland gardener. One FYI, you can grow pomegranates in Maryland! There is a Russian variety that is hearty down to zone 6. I bought one on Amazon last year, though I'm worried it may not have made it through this extremely cold winter. Best of luck and keep up the great videos!

I feel like I should be a farmer also. The thought of living away from people and having my own land and animals is my only dream in life! That would please the hermit in me! I'm living on two acres now. Your videos help me a lot. If I had a farm I would grow food for me and the homeless. Green is my favorite color also, PBS (love it) I like your beard and your gentle nature! Thank you so much. 💚🌱🍏🥒🥑🌽🥝🍐🍈

I found your channel via the Fresh P's. It's nice to meet you.
Introverts are more interesting to me, being one myself, though it is often the case that we don't like talking about ourselves and don't like chitchat. Ideas are our realm, not gossip or trite passing thoughts.
Tostones con mojo are wonderful - I can no longer get plantains, much less tostones where I now live.
Interesting that you don't like reds and pinks when most of the flowers I see in your yard are red. Odd how that works.

Thanks Jeremiah. I'm glad you took time to comment. It is nice to have feedback. It can be hard at times to know if what I'm doing is worth continuing. If I know there are people that value the work, no matter how many, it helps to continue on.
