Great video. I’ve been managing my son’s u9 team since the start of the year, and he’s been struggling with frustration lately - with his team mates for not getting the ball to him, with himself for not taking chances, with me when I offer advice and ‘distract’ him… will definitely put some of this into practice to help him along.
I usually get an emotional player on every team I coach. Usually the parents don't help and as you explained, will try to convince them to snap out if it, then get frustrated and make the player cry. Is it wise to pull the player and have him sit until he calms down a bit?
It can help, it can depend on the player I suppose. But it’s not something you should be afraid of doing, it’s worth trying, to see if calming down might help. But some kids might take it as a “punishment” rather than a chance to compose themselves. So it can go the other direction and make matters worse if they think it’s a consequence!

Catalin Ben is the man! Great advice for all coaches of youth sports!
Fantastic advice for parents and new (or slow-to-learn) coaches. I love your content. Please make more for coaches and parents of younger kids.
