Looking back at the fights from his 2011-2015 win streak.. he was shrugging off takedowns if not countering them, made decent strikers and grapplers back up all the way to the cage, and unloaded there with muay thai knees and elbows. When he had the center he out-counterstruck almost everything in that flow-state you're mentioning.
He made alvarez to aldo look easy back then-- no need to like the guy after what he's been doing since, but for the sake of my own entertainment and highlight reels I hope he'll deliver some more surprising bouts before retiring 👊 *OSU!*

Which aint nothing wrong with that. And for conor, i think hes fighting chandler expecting to win and count that as his official retirement. Lol im sure conor regrets going back in the cage after beating cowboy.

Conor is not a bully in the ring. He can be a bully outside of the ring, but most fighters can bully him if he tries to step out of line. He is very much a glass canon with one really good weapon a bunch of distracting weapons to hide the best weapon. He is definitely a counter striker and I hope he fights Chandler that way. If he tries to bully Chandler he will get gassed and then ragdolled.

Chandler like Marcus Brimage in Conor's debut has to pick his poison, fight tall or fight short. Conor has the counter for both (High: left cross + teep/hook kicks or Low: left uppercut + spinning back kick). That's if Chandler goes for a slugfest. The smart move is to ragdoll Conor the same way he could do to literally any 155er in MMA history. NOBODY can match the explosiveness of Mike's blast double or slams.

Near copying word for word what john kavanagh said last week.
McG is looking good, no idea the level of the sparring partners but he is looking good. It is very rare that a fighter comes back at the same level after snapping their leg. The questions are about muscle memory with such long time off. He is a class operator, surgical striker and if he is healthy, able to avoid rust (which he said was an issue in the past) then he can get the job done.

But Conor has always been a pressure fighter AND a counter striker. That’s part of what’s made him so exiting to watch. Even in the Alvarez and Aldo fight he was coming forward. BUT if Chandler is smart and serious about winning, he will try to take it to the ground early and often, and Conor could be in for a long night. Connor is coming off a brutal KO loss, then a devastating leg break in a fight he was losing, and by the time he fights chandler it will have been 3 years since connor has competed. Also, during connor's 3 years out of competition he has been partying, staring in a movie, doing a lot of drugs (see the road house interview where connor is absolutely zooted).
Michael chandler has also been out for a while, and by the time he fights connor it will have been 1.5 years since his last fight. Michael is a very explosive and dangerous power wrestler which is not an ideal matchup for connor. Michael has seriously damaged everyone he's fought in the first round (obviously the Charles, Justin, and dustin fights didnt go his way but he managed to drop all three of them and 10-8 charles in the first round). Connor is not someone who handles damage well. If Michael hurts connor in the first round (which is very very likey) then connor almost certainly folds.

He’s going to have trouble. He has sparring partners that just take a beating. He’s light on the feet but when he fights stronger fighters all that bouncing and clean counter shots if they don’t put the other fighter out quickly he will lose. Each round he loses power, when top fighters push through and get him into grappling exchanges he loses finishing power. Which is how he wins by ending fights. Otherwise he’s hopping on one leg surviving on the floor he’s not even good for decision wins because he loses every wrestling exchange, not a threat with jujitsu and gasses in later rounds.

Michael Chandlers a different fighter than Chad though. His striking is much better, he's taller, he's more powerful, plus he's got a better chin. It's chandler's age that's gonna be the deciding factor.

I don’t think Conor will go back to his karate stance days. Back in the day he didn’t even train traditional boxing, nowadays he is. For some reason he seems to be focusing on boxing too much for me

Bro, would you ever consider making videos of you teaching some basics of boxing?
I am struggling alot with my lead left hook, it feels so awkward for me, and im not sure how to get more power from it.
I think it would be awesome if you started a mini series of you giving some tips and how tos for the basics.
Also if anyone knows where i could find some good teachers on youtube that could teach me a lead left hook, i would greatly appreciate it!

Good idea mate. Yeah I'd be up for it. I'm no expert and boxing was never my strong suit but I like to think my left hook has got a bit of power in it. My app will have a few tutorials like these in once I release it in next couple months

The lead hip is the conduit to the lead hook. This is why most boxers are kind of have a square torso it allows more hip to activate on the lead side. If not you need to throw the right first to have enough rotation for the lead hook to have steam on it. The rest is more of a chain thing where the hip rotation is slightly ahead of your arm starting your lead hook.

Ps I’m also more into the Cuban style lead hook. You might want to look that up.

Chandlers punches are like bricks tied to a string thrown out of a slingshot. I dont think Conor is gonna be able to go in there after a long layoff, with reduced timing and speed, and not get butchered.

To be fair, Chandler has been extremely dedicated to this fight the whole time. By coincidence, I met his strength trainer’s mom delivering a pizza. She said that they have been training this whole damn time as if the fight was around the corner.

Most people are ignoring the fact that Mendes grounded and elbowed the shite out of a prime Conor for 5mins of their fight on 18 days notice. Granted, yes Conor minced him on his feet! Chandler's is a far better finisher than Mendes, harder hitter and is preparing for the fight of his life. I just don't see it being the walk in the park most people expect for Conor. If he doesn't manage to finish it in the first his cardio will be tested more than previously. If Conor can lure Chandler into a swing fests like Poirier and Gaethje did then yes it favours him, but if Chandler fights a smart long game, it'll be a hard night for Conor.

Beginning to think Chandler might have tested positive for peds and the UFC just keeping it under wraps like they did with Jon Jones. Why in the world would you want to take 2 years off at the age of 35(37 now) just for a fight with Connor? Chandler seemed like a gamer who would have rather been in the ring staying active then a single pay day qhere when he steps in with Conor hell be rusty AF. Plus seems like a total waste of talent by the UFC.

There’s no way Chandler keeps it remotely close. He’s gonna be a punching bag and then go down early. Gonna be rough for Chandler fans.
Btw - I’m far from a Conor fan. Team Dagestan all day. But it’s very easy to see that Conor is and always will be absolutely elite, no matter what people believe.

You can’t look at sparing footage and predict ANYTHING. You have no idea the context of the session. A lot of sparring has to do with training specific things and situations and there are rules and guidelines to each training scenario. It’s not all just a free fight situation.
