  • This is just a demonstration video on how to power a GMLAN Stereo outside of the car with out a lot of work or effort.
    As far as I can all, if the car the radio was originally removed from was never optioned with a NAV System on any package level, the radio is likely only 11Bit. The 29Bit system seems to be present in cars that used a NAV system.
    The adapter is a PAC LAN11ON. Search for it on ebay. They can be had most any day for $50 to $60.

    Great Video. If installing into a vehicle, you can replace the switch with a relay connected to the ignition on/off wiring. it makes the install clean, maintains the vehicles interior, and gives you that factory install experience.

  • @ChristopherPrice

    The radio lock occurs when the GMLAN in the car sends the VIN from the BCM. The PAC module doesn't do this, which is it works. But great video to show other people how to do it.

    Very useful info - had no idea PAC made a bench test adapter. I've been through the 11-bit vs 29-bit struggles myself. Thanks for making this video!

  • @KarlYamashita
    @KarlYamashita 7 лет назад +4

    I developed that PAC interface years ago. I just emulate the BCM 11bit/29bit messages when the key is on. I also don't send a VIN# so that is why the radio does not VIN lock.

    What are the part number(s) of the Saturn radios that don't even use the GMLAN?
    I can get a Saturn Vue radio part #25994574 cheap for like $15 at a junk yard.
    Also I see the GMLAN adapters are no where to be found anywhere now.
    I love these radio with the bright VFD and RDS (for the non base version) display.

    • @BruisersBeaters
      @BruisersBeaters  8 лет назад

      +sizzlin321 You don't, as far as I can tell. The lights turn on though a signal in the cars LAN network. The PAC gizmo only tells the radio to turn on. All the other features of these radios are lost without the LAN network.

    • @sizzlin321

      You need to find a Chevy or GM dealer with a good reputation and good reviews and ask them to simply go in and unlock your radio. These cannot be unlocked by the user. Expect to be charged around 50 dollars. If they quote you any more you call BS on them.

      There are videos on how to unlock the radio available on youtube. I looked it up once & wrote it down. It may have been within a 07 pontiac G5 radio loc video. Here are the instructions!!!! Get a pen & paper to write down the numbers the radio will display! Start vehicle, turn radio on, press & hold #2 & #3 presets at the same time & hold, until a 3- digit CODE APPEARS & WRITE IT DOWN! THEN, Press the Am& Fm button & get a second 3- digit code! Write it down! Then, CAll Chevrolet radio phone code @ 1 800 537 5140. ENTER 106010 FOLLOWED BY THE # SIMBLE. FOLLOWED BY THE 6 DIGIT CODE THAT YOUR RADIO DISPLAYED FOLLOWED BY STAR *️⃣ key YOU WILL BE GIVEN 4 digit code, WRITE IT DOWN!!! USING THE MINUTE & HOUR BUTTON, enter the 4 digit code then press am/fm to unlock radio. DONE!!! Basically, When gm gives you the code, press & hold the HOUR button until your first 2 numbers appear. Then, press & hold the Minute button to get the last 2 digit code to appear then, press am/fm to unlock. Try that & see if it works.... I explained it twice because, that is how it was written in the article of which I copied it from... HOPE IT WORKS 4 YA. IF NOT, LOOK IT UP ON RUclips.

    I am looking at buying a 2010 Malibu 2LT, which unfortunately does not come with the USB port like the LTZ models do. Is there a simple connector that plugs into the back of the radio you're showing here which would allow me to play music from a USB memory stick that I could just run into the glove box to keep it hidden? OR where could I find a used LTZ radio that already has the built in USB port? Thanks

    • @BruisersBeaters
      @BruisersBeaters  8 лет назад

      +2003SaturnFan It would. You would need to add in a 12V+ ACC wire though that activates when you turn the key to run though. The plugs and everything else is the same. I can't promise all features will work though, such as features specific to the Chevy. It'll be a radio though, and play music.

    • @Alexscott100
      @Alexscott100 8 лет назад

      +Pan Gramercy all it needs to do is play radio/cd/aux nothing more

    • @Alexscott100

    • @Alexscott100
      @Alexscott100 8 лет назад

      +Pan Gramercy so would i be able to plug and play another lan11 radio in another GM car. So for example could I pull the radio from a 2008 Buick LaCrosse and put it into a Chevy HHR without any programming or mods

    • @BruisersBeaters
      @BruisersBeaters  8 лет назад

      In that case no. The radio will have the Buicks VIN stored in it, and as soon as it compares with the BCM in the HHR, the radio will lock until you take it to the dealer for proper activation. The Saturn radio works because it's not a LAN11 radio, Saturn was going out by then so they never invested in adding the LAN network to any Saturn, so the radio was just made special for the Saturn line to work with a 12V+ ACC instead of a digital "On" Signal. Same radio, just different means of turning on.
