I miss playing this game. I used to have a hard time fighting Cervantes. He used to pick my character up using those double swords. It irritated me to the point of wanting to quit, but couldn't do it. Not gonna come this far to leave now. "Suck it up and keep trying until you win." Very inspirational words. I loved using Taki and Seung Mina. Didn't really use Sophitia and Voldo until Soul Calibur 3.
Cervantes is a roadblock for a lot of characters in Edge Master Mode. Siegfried I think was the only character I could get past him in Edge Master Mode somewhat easily with. If you have a character that has good reach, he's not as much of a problem because you can't really fight him head-on.
I never thought I'd find this game again. All the hours I've spent playing this game. I still remember I've always played with Seung-Mina. Too bad I haven't beaten Soul Edge even once

As a non natural english speaker, some mission were too cryptic to understand to my very young self. Internet wasn't a thing at all, no friend played it. Stuck in the same mission for every heroes. And then, one day, a random mash made me pass thru this damn mission. One of the best day in my gamer life.
That fucking intro, man. What the hell? My brother used to troll me by playing it at me randomly while doing cheesy Ultraman-esque poses when they shout "to shine!". lol Fuck.
*Sister: Kathandra* - Okay, you can see how this was either a mistranslation or they changed it later. *Brother: Ruches* - This... was not the name for the "brother" they mention later.
Probably a weird translation of the phonemes in her Japanese name (カサンドラ - Kasandora). I don't know the katakana for Lucius's name, but Ruches was probably a similar mistranslation.
aaah I miss such games, they don't make them any more, I just love how VARIED and interesting the characters are, I feel the Japanese's fascination with different cultures

Modded back into the rom which still has some broken pictures. Still, unless they put effort into re release this ye old game, I can't fault anyone for wanting to play a rom. It's ancient and never been re mastered aside from maybe some re imagining of portions done in SC6. But I don't count that. Great game, great way to start the series, great content, great vibes, good tunes. This was a game done right, especially for the age. New game is great too.

Could even have the clever title of “SoulEdge: Reforged”. And as a bonus (and failsafe, let’s be honest), throw in the original game (with online) as well as a bonus. Edit: you could’ve overlayed some subtitles over her endings.

the backgrounds in this game are all polygonal yet in for example tekken 3 they made all the backgrounds 2d for the home version. I wonder if Soul Edge managed to run at 60 fps with all that stuff going on and that nice lighting? probably not... it's a long time since i've played it
I would have thought her story mode would have incorporated the canon, with Taki saving her between the fight with Cervantes and Soul Edge, since they technically worked together to beat him.
