Ryan Preece’s performance in 2023 proves that it wasn’t Cole Custer’s fault for the lack of performance during his 3 year stint. Loads of people owe 2023 Xfinity Series champion (albeit because of the playoffs) Cole Custer an apology

Yes and no. Preece struggled but unlike Custer, he actually is a contender on certain circuits....in this case short tracks. Yes, Custer did win that Kentucky race but that's more so the 550 pkg than him being good at intermediates. Preece's short track prowess is the sole reason I am considering him for my playoff grid.

I kinda think SHR will improve and get 1 of their cars into the playoffs next year. They had some bright spots last year outside of Harvick. Briscoe and Almirola looked unbeatable when they had track position at the summer race in Daytona. All of them were great at Martinsville and Richmond. They got Berry who looked very solid in the 9 (and 48 and 42) and Gragson will mentally have a clean slate. Wouldn't be surprised if they went winless but wouldn't be shocked if they won a race this year, maybe even two

Preece is no way a joke
He’s from my home track stafford 15 minutes from home I could go see him if he still raced there
He’s a contender on most superspeedways and a threat on short tracks
He was screwed by the electrical issue at the clash
    And a penalty at martinsville
And then I’m guessing they don’t want you to be better then the playoff drivers in the fall so he wasn’t a threat in the fall martinsville race

  • @Christopherbellfan203
    @Christopherbellfan203 5 месяцев назад +8

I think the reason Preece struggled, was due to bad luck. There were quite a few races where he was running good, only to get caught in a wreck. There were definitely races where he was just bad, but he often was just an innocent bystander who got caught in others messes. I personally think it was a good decision to put him in that car, because he looked much faster than Custer was in the 41. I mean, Cole was often just bad, and sometimes struggled against even the Rick Ware cars. Preece just felt like he was always getting caught in others mistakes, like how he was taken out during the mayhem at Cota.

One owner has his attention more on his F1 team than NASCAR. The other owns tracks, series, multiple other racing teams, and has been focusing on a new career in drag racing. The management is capable, but when both your owners are absentee much of the time, what does that say about their dedication to their team? If the top guys aren't paying attention, it gets noticed

Which season was worse: 2021 or 2023?
If we’re saying strictly cup: I’ll say 2023 because at least SHR got 1 win with Almirola at New Hampshire.
If we’re expanding to cup and Xfinity, then I’d say 2021 because Custer won the championship and even Herbst got a win.
Either way, SHR looking more like the Guandong Tigers these past few seasons.

SHR - Short of Horsepower Racing, outside of Harvick and the 4 car but will the 4 car still be competitive with Josh Berry? We'll see. SHR kinda feels like Robert Yates Racing in the 2000s along with Haas F1's struggles. SHR are still competitive on superspeedways and short tracks like Phoenix, Richmond and Martinsville.

I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears, but I have to come to the defense of my boy Aric Almirola a little, because the numbers don't tell the whole story. For the past three seasons, barring his win at New Hampshire in 2021, he has the craziest, most ridiculous, never-ending bad luck. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of races where the 10 car was just out to lunch, but it seemed like every single time Aric was on his way to a decent finish, the racing gods would say "No, no, that's not allowed," and he would get, to put it delicately, nuts and bolts screwed. For example, you said SHR was "irrelevant" during the Coca-cola 600. Aric had been steadily working his way up through the field after starting mid-pack. He was pretty happy with the car, had just cracked the top-10...and then hit the wall on a restart. He was leading the spring Atlanta race...and then ran over debris, cut a tire, and crashed. He was the only car who could even remotely keep up with Truex at New Hampshire...and his pit crew left a wheel loose and he wrecked on the restart. He was on his way to a top-10 in the spring Darlington race...and got collected in a big late-race pileup. He had a shot to win the spring Talladega race...a big wreck started right next to him, just barely caught him in the right rear, and the toe link broke on the restart.
AND in the last ten races of the season, he scored more points than several playoff drivers did.
I know it wasn't a great season by stretch of the imagination. But if the clouds of bad luck that hung over the 10 team throughout all of 2021 and all of 2022 could have just GONE THE HELL AWAY after two relentless years, 2023 would have at least been a * decent * season for Aric. Heck, there were at least five races he had a pretty decent shot to win: Atlanta 1, Talladega 1, New Hampshire, and both Martinsville races. But that bad luck just had to rear it's ugly head every time.
Anyway...I'm sure no body cares, but...when you follow your favorite driver super closely every single race (to the point of barely even paying attention to everything else that's going on) the final stats never tell the whole story.

I believe that Chase Briscoe has the talent and ability to be "the guy" for them. While the 14 was awful on intermediates this year, when they went to a short track or short oval type, they ran top 15. If they can get their act together on intermediates, then Briscoe will be in the playoff conversation. While I don't think they get over that hump this year, I'm looking at 2025 as Briscoe's breakout year

But anyone who’s watched this guy race over the years, at Stafford and other venues knows that he is one of the toughest wheelman in the country. To go up against Ted Christopher and Mike Stefanik among others who are crazy competitive in their own right. And beat those guys?! Man unless you’ve seen that type of racing for yourself it’s hard to put into words the talent of that style/discipline. There have been times where he was just plain off the pace I’m not blind to that but a lot of the times his good runs got over shadowed by either bad luck or other teammates with just better runs I see Preece and briscoe both having breakout seasons and hopefully taking SHR back to where they belong!

Excluding Ryan Preece, they have two XFINITY hot shots and they have yet to prove themselves. They adopt an old school way of things, but they need to do something to keep up. They can get Penske cars running up front and they are Fords. These young drivers need good cars to dive because they are only as good as the car is and that is what points to the issue.

I predict that this team will have the same downfall of Junior Johnson and Robert Yates. They can hardly field competitive cars anymore. That old school mentality of thinking doesn't let them adapt to the ever changing landscape of the racing world very well. And lastly, with sponsors leaving left and right, it leaves the team underfunded quite a bit, even though they still have a good number of sponsors and handshake deals they can make work for some of their teams, but not all of them. With the way things are going for them, this team will be gone by the end of the decade, if not sooner.

SHR is good on sponsorship and Only Lost sponsors they knew they would as they were tied to Kevin and Aric. Josh will have Harrison's and probably mobile 1 and gear wrench at minimum. Noah will have Bass pro shops and black rifle coffee and maybe Wendy's. I think Tony and zippy have realized old school isn't going to cut it with the next gen car and I know I seen they were or still are looking for senior vehicle dynamics engineer. Tony wants to win races

It sucks to see Stewart-Haas Racing go down the same path as teams such as Morgan McClure Motorsports, Robert Yates Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing, D.E.I., and various other race winning teams falling off the cliff. Hopefully SHR can bounce back this year. I got Chase Briscoe winning 1 race.

It's not just NASCAR where Haas has struggled as their F1 team has been absolutely terrible ever since they entered F1 in 2016. Sure there have been moments of success like Romain Grosjean finishing 4th at the Austrian GP & multiple points finishes, but this is also the same team that has seen likes of Nikita Mazepin (who is quite easily the worst driver to ever entered F1 in the last 40 years) drive for them. Then there is the whole Rich Energy scandal which is something that Gene Haas would rather forget about. Going into 2024, I think Haas will continue to be mediocre & will be competing with Williams to avoid finishing at the bottom of the F1 standings.

And Tony is just as involved as he's ever been and he knows what is going on So don't other f****** say fake news again Because that's what you're f****** uneducated f****** opinion about it unless they know the facts And Tony Stewart needs to start forcing videos like this to be removed and Black flags forced to go get a real job at Walmart for being so f****** stupid

Let’s be honest: SHR has been off the ball ever since they switched to Ford.
Three wins total in 2017. Yes, 2018 was good, but a recently expanded Penske also won the championship with all three of their drivers winning a race, so you could make the case Ford as a whole was dominant that year.
2019, they fell behind with the Mustang. I don’t even know why everyone thinks 2020 was that good of a season for the team. Only one total win outside of Harvick’s 9 that year.
Then I feel like everything from 2021 onwards is pretty well documented…….

And Ryan Preece and Noah Gragson will probably have the same stats as last year, and I don’t think Noah is going to do much in the 10 car. And I think Stewart Hass will miss the playoffs and go winless for the second year in a row.

Unfortunately I see SHR having a Hendrick Motorsports 2018 2.0 style season. No wins nor any cars make the playoffs.
They are unnecessarily betting the house on themselves to succeed this year with their social media marketing, when I don't see that happening
Doesn't help that they've been one of the most penalized organizations in the Next Gen Era and Tony Stewart who has become somewhat disillusioned
