    FYI the infrared thermometers' don't work well on metal that is shiny. That's probably why the Barista measured as warmer. Love your reviews.

    Just got the newer one on lightening deal for $200 , I was going to get a manual one, but I honestly feel like I’ll get more use from this one, it’s half the price, and I’m not going to be too lazy to use it all the time

  • @happydappyman

    New one feels warmer because it's metal on top. Metal conducts heat better into your hand when you touch it. If it feels hotter, it should 'feel' hotter to the cups you heat on top as well.

    The espresso shots couldn’t look anymore different, those are 2 very different shots, I can’t speak for how they taste because I didn’t taste them, but from the looks of it the new one blows the old one out of the water. I imagine something has failed on the older one over time because that was super watery, essentially it just made a coffee, the new one at least made a passable shot of espresso and it actually looked pretty good.

    When you were checking the temperature of the milk you didn't have them both on the same setting. You should have turned the knob all the way to Cappuccino I can see the knobs are not all the way there.

      Great Question, I don't drink espresso straight, I have to add milk and sugar to make a latte or cap. for those drinks I love it. I am just not an expert on espresso tasting. to me all the espresso's I have ever made are very strong and to me taste really bitter,

    I have the older model, but I use a separate frother since I think 🤔 it would be a pain to clean 🧼 the one that came with the machine.

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  2 года назад

      What frother do you use?

    • @aeonjoey3d
      @aeonjoey3d 2 года назад

      I used an identical frother in a delonghi nespresso latissima for 5 years at work before Covid, after we came back 2 years later, I ran it in the dishwasher and checked it’s holes for smells or caked on old milk and didn’t find any after the wash, we used it every day, and then continued to. The same can be said about these. Mr coffee says top rack dishwasher as needed, or hand washing - and the self clean cycle can be run with milk in the tank because it bypasses it. Some models - like chef man and kitchenaid require dumping the milk to self clean, so mr. Coffee really designed a good one.

    The new one is not improved. It's a cost reduction effort in the design.

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  2 года назад

      wow I had not idea. Could you help and maybe explain what is different? Thanks for your help, I just assumed it was an upgrade.

    • @aeonjoey3d
      @aeonjoey3d 2 года назад

      As a CPG product designer, I can assure you it isn’t cheaper, there are 3 more LEDS, 3 more buttons, a larger milk tank, three panels of stainless steel (the older model used aluminum), three heat modules (the old one had 2), and the portafilter holder assembly is now all metal (the old one is metal with plastic fittings and plastic mouldings). Additionally, the electronics now sense and illuminate the clean LED after 200 brews, the original had no such functionality. Each led, and each button add cost for materials, assembly labor, testing, and functionality checks on the line. I’m sorry, you’re wrong about this.

    • @aeonjoey3d
      @aeonjoey3d 2 года назад

      Additionally, almost forgot, the newer model produces 19 bars of pressure vs 15 for the old one. This increase is due to a higher pressure stainless steel lined brass boiler, which is an upgrade in both material reliability, functionality, and safety.

    • @_w_w_
      @_w_w_ 2 года назад

      @@aeonjoey3d Clearly you are not looking carefully. The new on use 1 more LED, you didn't count carefully. The one old use diffused lens material for the LEDs and they cost more. The new one appears to have less (only appear to have 2) heartbeat LED circuits, where as the new one using mostly on/off state. Yes, they used more buttons, but they are normal debounced buttons and no longer require an IC controller to run the code needed to remember the button states. The IC driving those heartbeat cost more. If you count the panels, the are used is about the same surface area, except turn sideways. They didn't think the bottom accent is worth the money, so it was used elsewhere. If you measure the plastic surface, thickness, it's reduced in the new model as it's much smaller. I don't know how you can know it uses 3 heat modules/elements without opening up the machine. If you were personally involved int his design and know for a fact more money was spent, then it's an even bigger failure... for producing a product that's new better than the previous model.

    • @_w_w_
      @_w_w_ 2 года назад

      @@aeonjoey3d 15 vs 19 bars? It's all lost by the time it gets to the brew head. Again, money spent where it doesn't matter. Both are using pressurized filters with rubber relaxers.
