For sure. They're an icon! I also found out they're faster than necessary! A guy I met in the gym has a Gen 1 SV650, and I have a Gen 3 Hayabusa. Man, we were riding together one day for the first (and last) time and, assuming I wanted to go fast due to me being on the faster bike, he went all out on his. I was going with the traffic and he pulled away from me so fast, he disappeared from how far away he was. Took me a long time to catch up to him. I didn't expect an SV650 to be that fast. It's not slow at all even for a "slow" bike.
@@JESUSISCALLINGYOU7 That engine with proper maintanence will last forever. No match for a Busa though! My buddy had A VStrom 650 with that engine and it was pretty impressive.
That's for sure as one of the best bikes ever. Alot of people looking to get into riding always want a sport bike for some reason, but this bike is probably the best way to get into riding! I've rode most bikes - and this one is truly a top 10 bike of all I've rode. Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻- and have a AWESOME Sunday!! Don't be a Stranger!
About 53 years of blasting about on motorcycles and I've yet to ride any bike that's more fun than an SV 650. It's fast enough to be exiting as it fly's through the bends and it just does everything no fuss no bother. Not too big and not too small, and when I'm riding an SV 650 I'm having a ball. Wow, you said it, what a simple and great bike that's exactly what you need and one heck of a lot more.
I have a 2023 SV650. Calling it a beginner bike is a bit of an insult… I’ve been riding for 55+ years. I’ve had lots of faster bikes, my last fast bike was a 2021 Yamaha MT-09. I traded it off, as I could corner faster on my SV650, and enjoyed it more.
SV650 is truly the Swiss Army knife of motorcycles. Not only is it a good motorcycle for beginners but a great bike for folks that have been riding for a long time. I’ve been riding for 20 years or so and just bought another SV650 for daily riding and have found myself riding this thing on the weekends. It’s such a great bike.
I like your video, but I hate that term "Beginner's Bike". It makes it sound like only a beginner would ride it. Not so. I started riding dirt-bikes when I was 12 years old and have continued to present day. I owned a SV650S and I loved it. It is not a "Beginner Bike". It's a naked sport-bike. Excellent ergonomics. You could easily ride that motorcycle across the country, or on a race-track with a few suspension upgrades. Ride the bike every day for lots of miles. It's plenty quick too. It can cruise all day long at 70 mph. Again, not a beginner-bike.
I went through alot of bikes in a span of 3 years. I managed to get one as my 4th bike. All i can say is, its definitely my favorite. The way it handles is probably the best ive ridden. I went for. A cbr 500r, ninja 650, a z900, then to a sv650. The sound alone is beautiful! Def not the fastest but it has alot of character.
Great vid. I daily my 23 sv650. I've been ridin my whole life basically. Had several bikes. Wanted the sv for about 15 years. Finally got it last year. It's by far my favorite. Very practical, quick, fun bike. I love it on the twisties.
First video I watched on your channel and when you mentioned quick shifting without the clutch by momentarily closing the throttle, I smashed the subscribe button. Yes folks, you don't need a quick shifter/auto blip to change gears on a motorcycle! Ride Safe, Ray!
Hi man, Belgium again😁 Ow yes the Suzuki SV 650. Totally forgotten this awesome bike. I've owned one more than 15y ago. Maybe a weird comparison to make but if you have to choose....this SV or Kawasaki Z500? Thx Best regards Wim from Belgium.
So ray ive decided i want a naked bike style. Im between 5 bikes, this sv650, the z650, z500 se and i checked out the honda ones the cb650r and cb500f..
@RayBowdenRides i have i had a 600 ninja years back, i ride a yamaha vstar650 from time to time. Over the weekend me and some buddies rode around we switched between the vstar650 and a 1500cc Harley. I like the z650 but it don't come in a se trim the z500 se has some cool stuff I wish the z650 had. The sv650 is cool got a retro look to it as well
After all these years, it still has jerky fuel injection and a no-padding seat that slides you into the tank. I've owned two SVs, and sure, it's fun for short rides and the engine is great, but I'm disappointed that Suzuki refuses to invest anything more into this model, besides new paint.
Most of the articles and forums I've read state that new riders shouldn't start on any bike bigger than 500cc. Is the SV650 the exception to that rule and, if so, how come?
It depends. Generally you don’t want to start on an inline 4 cylinder 600cc motorcycle like an r6 or 636. However, the parallel twin cyclones or in this case v-twin 600-700cc bikes might be manageable for a beginner if they’re mature and have good throttle control. There will be alot more “oh sh&@“ moments in the early weeks but you’ll eventually get used to the power. Tbh the scariest thing in the beginning is dropping your bike as a beginner. It’s recommended to get a cheaper bike as your first bike because of the tendency for beginners to drop their bikes when getting started.
Sv650 is my first bike. Never touched a motorcycle before it. It's been fine as long as you don't get on the throttle to much. It definitely has some power.
Safe to say these bikes have earned the right to be called a legend.
Yes for sure!! Thanks for Watching another video Gpz! Stay out of trouble my friend!!

Riding is for everyone, and the SV650 is a bike for everyone. I'd like to see a return of the fully faired S versions like back in 03+ 🏍️.

Im sad the instrument cluster on this bike doesnt light up at all. For a 2024 i mean come on suzuki no light at least for at night?
Are you sure the gauges aren't backlit? I find that hard to believe!!
So ray ive decided i want a naked bike style. Im between 5 bikes, this sv650, the z650, z500 se and i checked out the honda ones the cb650r and cb500f..

Great bike! Can you test the kawasaki 900 RS
Yes I can, and they have one - thanks for the suggestion!
Nice review.. between this and mt 07 which one would you pick? And why
Have you never riden a Street bike before? Truth.?
@@RayBowdenRides previously owned CB 500x and currently owned Z250 & SV 650.. but I never ridden MT-07
@user-cm1mp9se1k they are Awesome bikes, The mt-07 suspension is lacking, but they are a quality bike!!

@Frip36 rather than engine matching gears just use the clutch. Svs aren't dont have qs.
@kuso3079 yep! Thanks my friend.

Doesn't this thing way around 500 pounds? How's a little skinny newbie supposed to pick this up after he bites it?
A girl can pick up a 500 lb bike then an anorexic man can too.
430 lbs I would think you'll be OK!
