My wife has one and loves it. She had a 1200 Bandit for over 15 years that she loved, then moved to a NC750 that she didn't. As soon as she had a go on the SV she said she felt at home again. As you say it's a brilliant, fun, light and characterful all rounder. And great value!

The SV650 was my bike of choice after learning period on a Ninja 300. Focusing in the 650cc range, I threw a leg over several Makes in the dealership, took a couple bikes for test rides. It was the SV650 that motivated the biggest smile. Whether it is to the next town or next LGA its a great bike for all seasons.

I had a K7 V Strom back in the day and they have the same engine as the SV. It was a top bike with that engine being ideal for everything from a quick trip through to a 2000 kilometre tour. I'm now riding a 2021 V Strom 1050xt and its another top Suzuki 90 degree engine, very impressive and way torquey and fun to ride than any of the inline fours I owned. IMHO when consigned to the past these engines will be in the top ten of the best engines ever made in motorcycling history.

I got my first motorcycle in 1978. After a 36-year break I just got a used SV650. I'm mainly going to use it for touring. I tried the V-Strom but preferred the lower, lighter and nimbler SV.

I loved the curvy SV, Mrs Marten had one and every opportunity to prise the keys off her was always a treat. We lived a little more to the west than you were in north Wales, and the SV was a perfect back lane hooligan.

I recently came back to biking after a health induced 5 year hiatus. I got an original SV650S 1999 (curvy gal in black), it's great! I enjoy it more than the new 749 I had back in the day. Much better low down torque. Took my twin boys out for their first ride on it last weekend (one at a time!), they loved it too! I reckon it's a Swiss army knife of motorcycles, does everything you could want and more. Great video again! 💯👍

Sv owner here, they are without doubt one of the biggest bargains out there. I use mine for the daily commute and to be honest it’s all the bike you really need. I’m lucky enough to have a Triumph speed triple and a Guzzi also and I tend to lean towards the SV more and more, reliable to a fault, flickable and fun.

I got an excellent deal on a red and white 2021 SV650 back in February 2022, I then sold my Tenere 700 soon afterwards, and I haven't looked back. The SV is so much fun to ride, it's best described as a traffic light dragster! I've installed a few mods, but the best one was when I fitted a Yoshimura Alpha style exhaust, that V-Twin/L-Twin now sounds epic! I might upgrade the suspension and the brakes one day, but I'm not in a hurry, as they're perfectly adequate for the road. There's a replacement on the horizon, but it will use a bigger parallel twin engine, probably around 800cc, so the end of an era. I plan on buying a Suzuki GSX-S1000GT in the future, but I won't be selling my SV650, it's a fantastic bike and has become a classic! 👍

I’d say that this sort of bike is not only for beginners or people who re-enter. I’ve never ridden a SV but own a Ducati Pantah 600 TL and two Honda NT650GT Bros/Hawk. They offer everything one needs in the real world and still never get boring. And it’s not that I am an overly cautious rider. Not going bigger actually keeps from overdoing it. I just love how one can get the best out of such bikes in the bendies without pushing the world speed record.

@@UsernameKate head for the horseshoe pass in Llangollen, ponderosa cafe at the top of the viewpoint is worth a pit stop too. Number ways you can go from there but you could head to Ruthin from there via Llysfasi and the A525, then from Ruthin head for Loggerheads on the A494. Just a few from me, but there's lots round there without having to go to deep in to Wales

Awful things. I had a test ride on one a few years ago as on paper it looked like a good idea. Spent most of the test ride hitting the rev limiter waiting for something to happen and laughing and the underdamped, under sprung forks. I know the chassis can be sorted but the engine leaves me cold, sorry.
