You should not put grease on rubber. If that Hope headset's sealing ring was rubber or butyl rubber, you should use silicone grease to lubricate it because ordinary grease rots rubber. Conversely, if it was silicone rubber you would use normal grease.
I’m not too sure I’m a fan of the steam punk look. I prefer clean neat looking joins, preferably with beautiful lugs. But hey, it’s not my bike and therefore not my choice. End result looks good though and I’m sure a cool ride.
The black stem was absolutely the right decision. This build is the sickness and I’m very happy for you.

Tiny suggestion: make the spacers mostly black with 2 skinny orange ones evenly spaced between them.
The orange hubs make me very happy a great way to start the day . Also I get a lot of comments on the advisory decal of yours on my bike

I’ve built myself 2 sets of wheels with Hope hubs (Pro 2 and Pro 4) on HED Belgium rims and oh my do I love those hubs!
