As an owner of a quintessential Dad Bike (1988 Giant Boulder "All Terrain" mildly updated for urban use) I really dig this sweet build. I can also fully relate to always finding a way to drop the smallest part and having to search on hands and knees for an hour....or two. Cheers from the States.
Dad mode? Have you had time with a cargo bike? Having a full on cargo bike has been a huge benefit for our family. Kids need a lot of stuff! Would love to see your take on a Big Dummy or similar.
Mad impressed with this bike. From your first video with disk brakes (something I’m too intimidated to try) to the new stickers (gotta put an order in) to the anodized everything - I just love it. Congrats on building a great bike for you and the little one.
@2ND LIFE BIKES Just noticed the Raleigh M-Trax Ti 2000 frame you got from your shed, I had that bike in the mid '90's, nice bike. I have many many bikes throughout my life, it's hard to pick a favourite. I am currently thinking about building a bike that combines MTB and BMX, has to be a small(-ish) frame, disk brakes and a decent range of gears to tackle the hills in Sheffield. Nice work!
Really interesting video and great channel. I have this bike and love it, played around with changes to tyres and handle bars and used it for some light gravel, bike packing and pub runs. Think it gets missed as people think it's a commuter but it's a bit of do it all for me. Love the channel
i did a fork swap recently... I swear all you need is a sacrificial steak knife a hammer and a couple good whacks as you rotate the whole fork like you do to tighten bolts in a circle..
Awesome looking bike, I'm literally doin the same thing right now to an old metallic green Apollo Avio 😅 I'm almost done, it's gonna look like a circus clown bike with a seat on the back, me in the middle and shotgun saddle on the front like yours 😂 Needs must with 2 kids lol. Loved the vid and can't wait till the next one..🙂👍
This is such a sweet build! The colours are beautiful and the custom art is really well done. Glad I've found your channel. Maybe this Canadian dad can do some custom work on my ride too! Subscribed. Thanks and be well.
Hey, loving the channel! I'm very much new around these parts. I used to cycle commute to work, got a job further from home and just stopped. While I commuted I used a decathlon rock rider that I'd put some schwalbe city jet tyres (I think) changed to a one by set up using some cheapo amazon bits. Really enjoyed it but now I'm going back I fancy something a bit different. I nearly ordered a cannondale quick 4 but I love to tinker, and landed here 😅. I fancy picking up a road back but changing to a one by set up with some flat or riser bars. Is it doable? I came across a Raleigh airlite cheap local to me. Very tempted
100% doable. I converted a giant ocr2 to a 1x8 with flat bar, trigger shifter and mtb brake levers. So much more comfortable than drop bars. I have a 40t chainring so I manage to use all the gears on the 11-25(?) cog. It feels like an aggressive hybrid now.
Love this man! I’m in process of choosing between a Kona dew delux and a specialised sirrus for commute. Any thoughts on 650vs700 tyres for short commutes. Got two young kids will be loading up with school bags . Cheers man
This build really speaks to me! The amount of times I’ve dropped the tiny important part of build to have the whole thing halt for ages. Do you also find a good deal online.. order it, then get impatient and find the part locally, while the original one is still in the mail… then have 2 of the same thing once the part actually get delivered?
I understand your point, but where do you draw the line between giving a second life and worn parts which need replacing or parts which need upgrading for practical, modern use?

Dude, I love the anodizing 🙌
Are you gonna make a follow-up build with all sorts of anodized colors like this, Oldshovel?

Such a pretty bike. Love it.

Going out for a pint with your son? I approve!
Panaracer Gravelking SK's for the grim terrain of London's East.
Sweet Dew!
a hair dryer is a useful tool for getting stickers off, warms up and softens the adhesive
I just got the 23 model and cant wait to start riding it.
Wd 40 is great when you need to remove sticker residue✌🏻
Love the build.
Like the part about the brake installation!
Thanks for the wonderful videos.
LOve this. I have a ~2005 Dr Dew I'm looking to sort out, which led me to this vid.
really nice edit :) defo up for another setting up brakes vid please.
thanks for your work, fantastic job
Looks dead smart mate! I’m buzzing this morning, I picked up a complete mid 90’s GT Zaskar this morning for 30 quid!!!!
Sticker Doodles! My mum used to bake those!
Hypnotised by the Anodised pretty much nails it ❤
Love these stickers.. I was once known as the sticker fiend!!! I think I’ll need to buy some
Love the color choices, and im gonna have to find a chopstick
Love that 3 way brake bleed split screen, and yes , small parts get accidentally found in full view days later on my patio 😂
Parts that don't match, match. I like it.

It looks like a fun ride!
This thing looks fricken sic bro... love it
It really works aesthetically.
Damn bro sweet bike! It’s weird because right before discovering this vid I bought my first Kona Dew. 😂

Kona vs Specialized project, what is a better project to tackle???
This man needs a cargo bike :)
It's so weird... that it makes it look awesome
What rims did you use? I have a 22 dew plus and looking for other rim options to escape the 650c nightmare of lack of tyre choice
Virkelig fed cykel
Rad dad bike
what headset did you end up using? I'm trying to put a sealed headset on my kona dew.
road bike headset,Threadless... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07D28HG3S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It’s not amazing but I couldn’t find a better one.
Looks dope good job!

I’d go for the 650. Simply because it will be more comfortable.
@@2NDLIFEBIKES sweet man thanks for the quick response. Rolling with the Kona
Do they have goo gone in England? That stuff gets sticker residue off like a champ. Love the build homie.
Try some WD40 on sticker residue.
nice job
The brake bleeding video would be of some value for sure!
Monkeyshred has your purple chainring bolt on his 90s pizza bike. I did wonder why he had one purple and the rest silver :)
Your wall needs repointing…
Great stuff. When I first watched your videos I thought you were crackers. Now l know you really are. 😂😂
Keep up the good work mate!
has anyone pointed out that this build is cell from DBZ yet?

Yo tengo siete bicicletas y aun asi, siete bicicletas bien usadas son mas evologistas que un automovil. Pero entiendo tu punto.
I appreciate your attempt to go crazy on the color but the result comes off a bit gay to me.
Is that the look that you were going for?
What do you mean by that?
Can’t tell if this is straight up bigoted or if you’re referring to Keith Haring’s art. Either way, kind its a shitty way to describe something…
Mate, what? Lol. It's colourful, ya, but pretty sure the bike is asexual. I love it, regardless of how it identifies... it's pride month afterall. ❤
