I loved your commerce theory behind the shopping cart. I have always thought of it as his “self”, which feels empty, hence the empty cart. At the end, he climbs into himself and shutdowns. The white jumpsuit is symbolic of mental health professionals trying to make him “clean” again. Also, I think part of the search is to find things to fill his cart, but he’s still attached to his burdens.

My take: at 1:55 you see the cage in the back ground from the other videos. He had the keys to it. As in the power to break free. So it shows he escaped that cage... as in the prison he felt trapped in. Wether it be financial struggles, not making it big, where he lived, relationship problems and most importantly his past. So he’s trying to move on but moving on is difficult, thus the reference to the cart, the struggle of him pushing a cart through the dirt and muddy field. Also the cart being him and his mind which is his only small safe place. The balloons are his burdens. Hes carrying a lot around with him, also creating drag, slowing him from moving on even more, and they are blowing back towards the cage, trying to pull him back if you will to that cage. He stabs them when he says “must not be as crazy as I am” which is like him trying to get rid of the burdens in life which are slowing his growth. The people in the background in white are what people try to act like. All the same, all happy, all acting like they have few burdens, that’s why they only have a couple of balloons. The search, is people looking for what they want. That’s why they are always wandering around. When he sits in his cart, shows he has a small place to feel safe, the cart also acts as another small cage, his mind being another cage he has to escape. The person in white who lays the white clothes in the cart is like people, society saying be like us, do what we do. Don’t be yourself, don’t be genuine. The world trying to tempt him. Be fake and act as if life is perfect. Reference to the line where he says he would rather die real.
It's one of the things I love and respect about NF. If you stop and think about it to me it is mind blowing right, if you look at it NF has to have had all of this in his head from the start. Imagine the amount of Genius, Vision and Self Belief it would have taken him to Know he had a story worth telling and releasing them as chapters or albums over years. The story is so interwoven that he had to know it before he started.... right? Even though he knew when he started none one else saw his vision or believed in him, he did and stayed Real.
I believe the balloons are also his portable cage( his safe room) because the big cage from outcast is in the distance. He's on his journey (the search) and at the end he's tired and he retreats to his safe room (the cart) to rest.
At the begining he leaves the cage (in the background) from Outcast but he has a smaller cage with him (the shopping cart where he gets in at the end). Meaning he's out of the cage but still goes into his shell when he needs to. The most significant line in the song for me is "I'm looking for the map to hope, you seen it?". Can't wait for the next reaction! 🔥
"Where is he going? What are you searching for? " Bro it's representing his journey. He's pushing his cart, ballons (burdens) forward. Walking his road , his journey. The sand and rough road is telling you its going to be a struggle, but he's pushing through it. Looks determined!
Nf has come so far it’s amazing. Got to say he’s definitely my favourite rapper. AltSpace can you please react to lucidious he such a good rapper and in my opinion doesn’t get enough love.
What I love about The Search is the reference to a song that came after this song came out. "Been makin' a whole lot of changes Wrote a song about that, you should play it" was a line in The Search and Track number 3 on The Search Album was Change (great track btw.) I sat there listening to The Search thinking I want to hear it but it isn't released yet.
I've watched probably a dozen reactions to this song and you're the first one to say something relating the shoppkng cart to his sales and his burdens are in his songs making him money so he needs them. I appreciate that thought it kind of blew my mind.
The way I look at the shopping cart is as a portable version of the cage. (the one always on stage with him and in a few of his music videos) The cage is a metaphor for his mind, and negative thoughts and how he can't escape them. The shopping cart is a smaller version of the cage, one that he takes with him everywhere he goes. Even though he does not want to. Look closely at his facial expressions and body language throughout some of The Search music video. It appears as though the shopping cart is difficult for him to carry, and that he does not want to do it. Further solidifying the idea that he can not escape the negativity in his head. And for the balloons, they represent his negative thoughts and burdens. Notice how the balloons (his bad thoughts/burdens) are attached to the cage or shopping cart (both a metaphor for his mind which he is a prisoner in). He also points toward the balloons when he raps the line "grabbing my keepsakes, leaving my burdens / well I brought a few with me, I'm not perfect *points to the balloons*" Please note, this is all my own opinion of what these things mean. I might be completely wrong, as NF has not confirmed any theories about those items.

Nf throws so much info out in just a few seconds that it takes awile to unpack it all!.. You did that beautifully! And thank you for playing the video to the end!.. Alot of reviewers stop the video when the music ends... They are obviously missing Nfs WHOLE point. He is telling us a story... Bringing us along with his journey and hopefully we all come out better!
Thank you so much for watching Tim, I cannot get enough of his music right now, if I'm honest it took a while for me to get into but I listen to his music outside of youtube and reactions now
In the background of some shots some people had partial black clothes. To me this indicates that their burdens only encompass part of their life, meanwhile Nate has all black on. The shows how his burdens have overwhelmed him and have put a heavy weight on hi shoulders.
Always excited when I see a reactor I enjoy hit The Search album. Good to have you back man, hope you enjoyed your time with your family sending my best from Newcastle, england
Searching for inner peace, which is unattainable. Nate “Yeah, you might get a glimpse of happiness from your achievements But what you'll learn as you get older, every time you reach one Is you'll just make another goal that doesn't lead to freedom”
I think the cart is a metaphor in the sense that you go to the store and you are "searching" for the things you need, but so far his cart is empty like he isnt buying anything he's seeing. And the balloons, his burdens, drag behind the cart making it harder for him to search for what he needs.
I’ve always seen the shopping cart as his metaphorical crutch. Helps him carry the burdens but really gets in his way and makes it harder. (Look at the way he struggles with it). As well the incredible thing about the balloons is they’re light, they can float away if he lets them, but he’s scared to let them go so he invents ways to make carrying them “easier”. So these light balloons that he could just let float away actually weigh him down. Keep this in mind when you hear let me go, he’s begging for his burdens to let him go but he’s the one holding onto them.
First things first, welcome back my man. Great reaction. Welcome to The Search album. One of my NF's favourite song is in this album, 'I Miss the days'. Waiting for you to react to that and also you missed many metaphors in this reaction. Every single thing in that video means something. The people in white clothes roaming, the white cloth, swing, the cart and the balloons, there's also the cage from the Outcast at the beginning of the video. Everything means something, keep up the good work.
You sir, are a brilliant reactor!!! I’m so sad that I only found you after you stopped reacting. In my humble opinion, you are the BEST NF reactor, hands down. It is so refreshing to see intellectual commentary in a sea of basic head boppers, who are clearly pandering for views because they realized NF has a loyal fan base. Your analysis and interpretation of the material is intelligent and insightful. I wish you had gotten to Clouds and Hope. I pray you and your family got through the pandemic well, and that your decision to step away from reactions was not prompted by anything serious.
NF , his name is Nathan. He grew up as an abused child with a mom addicted to pills. His songs are about that pain and how he battles it, anxiety, fear, and self doubt. Some songs have a under tone of hope despite the obstacles he faces in life. That is what makes him relatable and a true artist. Top NF songs . . . Intro , Intro 2 , Intro 3 , Mansion A song about his childhood) , The Search, Why, Let you down, Outcast, How could you leave us (A emotional song about his Mom) Therapy Session, When I grow up( A song about his dreams) Paid my dues, Real, All I have, Time
Since I started watching your videos and Analytics about NF Songs I start to listen to every single word that he's saying. Before I just likes his musik because it sounded very cool and I understood some storytelling but with your videos it makes that all a whole lot different. Thank you for that!
I just want to put this here, I personally love Nf he has helped me through a lot as I relate to his music like most of his fans do. But just as much watching your videos and the way you react and understand his lyrics just as I do is amazing. I watch other react channels to NF but none of them break down the lyrics and explain and understand them like you and I do so I kind of connect with you, I’ve some how never been subscribed to you but I’ve watched all your reactions and I’m thankful for you putting a smile on my face ❤️
The white clothes are usually the uniform worn at the mental institutions. He said that he had a breakdown. The baloons are the burdens and issues that he is dealing with. In this video there were people in white walking in the background carrying their own issues(balloons). in the end of this video he is given the uniform as he's being checked into the institution to deal with his issues. This theme will pick up in Leave me alone which is like set in an institution where people are there to overcome their issues (by handing over their baloons and leaving in regular clothing)
First time watcher. Your analysis is actually interesting and intellectual. You are doing what what reactors should be doing. Dissection and breakdowns, rather than generic mirroring, and non substance narrations. Love it, gained a sub!
Shopping Cart reference...if you notice in the beginning, his jail cell (that he has the keys to) is in the background. He's walking away from the jail cell with the cart. Many people reference this as his mobile prison that he can climb back into at any point.
A major theme in this video that relates to his mental health is: watch what he does every time he starts to go haam. He let's go of his cart and burdens. He gets so lost in his art that none of that matters. That is how it is his therapy.
I love the reaction and your analysis! This video was shot in Iceland Nate's main producer Tommee makes a lot of cinematic songs and sounds for TV and movies, and he has a lot of horror movie / sound libraries, and they hear and take inspiration from those and start trying a lot of things. For example this song was almost over, but they felt was missing something so they took inspiration from Jordan Peele's movie trailer (I'm pretty sure it's Us) Keep it up man!
I love your reactions to NF, I've only ever known NF to wear white in one other video and it's a very short clip in REAL when he raps about being a Doctor with no patience/patients. Not sure the significance but he must have a hidden reason behind it. I hope we have a new album soon to make 2021 a better year.
A lot of his songs like this talks to his inner demons. He talks in No Name about phoning the devil inside of him. The balloons are black because it is his burdens that he can never escape from. It is really genius that almost everything he does is planned and has a deeper meaning.
Never disappointed of your reations bro! Explanation, quality, visuals, vibes, humble - you quickly became one of my favorite reactors! keep it going 🤍⚡️
My idea of the shopping cart, is a representation of the prison cell from outcast. In the beginning of the video you see the prison cell in the background, and he's walking away from it. But the shopping cart is a representation of that cell only he's taking it with him, in smaller form, because he can't fully break out of the prison he's created. That's how I've always viewed it. Because the shopping cart looks like a small prison cell with the way the bars are set up. Love your stuff man! Keep it up!
I'm also living in England. Super glad that you've actually been following the rules and stuff. Sadly, many people are refusing to and we keep getting worse
So glad your back! I can’t wait to get back to the NF journey and take it with you!!! Thank you for continuing it letting us come on the journey with you 🖤
Welcome back. So glad you were able to spend time with family. If you do write the essay, add a link for NF Fam we would love to read it. So much symbolism in this video. A lot of Reactors miss the cage in the background of the beginning which is from the song Outcast. The white coats I have found to mean medication or being medicated in my opinion. When you react to "Leave me alone" it'll make sense. People being medicated because of their depression makes them turn in their depression (dark clothing) for the white jumpsuit like an institution patient. At the end of the "Leave me alone" video he almost hands over his burdens (balloons) to the hand that juts out of the tent and he almost does, but decides not to, meaning he's not medicated for his depression..... Let me know what you or everyone else thinks...... Edit: I found the reference to back up my theory. I knew I had heard it before, It's from "Only" with Sasha here's the lyrics: Find a drug and numb it it til we hit the point we can barely function Am I motivated Is my music dated Would I be the same if I was medicated Even therapists say I need medication I avoid it though because I'm scared to take it.
Welcome back, Bro! Great to see ya'! Happy New Year! And so very glad to hear that you were able to spend quality time with your family. They're the most important people on the planet. Spend as much time with them as humanly possible. Now...to NF...I don't know what list you've been given to listen to for your next song, but when you come to the song entitled 'Nate' you'll get the answer to the question 'What is he searing FOR.' It's in the last line of that song. (Although it's aim is not completely clear. Again...I have my own theories.) I can't WAIT for you to hear that one. It's a conversation he has with his younger self. AMAZING! Anyway...so glad to see you back. Take care, and can't wait to see your reaction to the next one.
Thanks for just really getting the song.. i´ve shared this track like 20 times and people just don´t get it.. and you opened my eyes to the shopping cart being a represenation of consmumarism
Man i have been a huge NF ever since I heard of him a few years back, and your reaction and explanations are incredible, im glad that i found your channel. Keep up a great work 💯
The cell in the background was in his outcast video from the Perception album....the white clothes/balloons will allll make so much sense when you reach - Leave me alone - 😁😁 and the lyrics will also answer some of your questions 👌 I don't want to spoil it but fiyyaahhhhh 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 man is a genius!!
I never thought of your theory of the shopping cart. It's pretty cool to see other people have different ideas. I always thought of his shopping cart to be his portable cell, like the one he left now. He still feels to need to bring the safety his cell gave him with him
So I liked how someone said they saw the shopping cart as a type of "jail cell" because we obviously see the cell at the beginning in the background. I agree with that to an extent but also see it as another burden he's living with/living in because if you look at the people throughout the video, they are wearing white and each have black balloons in their hands. I think that is all a representation of a (stereotypical) mental institution where the workers all wear white. And on top of that, Nate having the dialogue about having a breakdown and seeing a therapist could easily be visualized as these "workers" in white holding some of his "burdens" (black balloons) from him sharing his inner thoughts to them. Lastly, at the very end when he gets in the cart and is handed the white clothes is exactly as if he were in a hospital room and the staff delivered hospital clothes to his room to change into. I'm not sure if that all made sense, but I think the whole video is a representation of "searching" his mind and allowing therapists and other people to help him by taking his "burdens", so in a sense it's like he's in his very own mental institution in his mind.
Hmm, I love that this is like one of the first songs he released for this album, but it was actually the epilogue... the goddamn narrator of his own story, walking away from his cage. Some of the songs on this album were so dark... it was nice to feel comfort in knowing he'd already worked through a lot of the feelings on the album and told us we don't need to be worried about him lol
Shopping cart: to me if you see at the beginning he is leaving the cell and taking a risk in going into the uncomfortable place (searching) but the cart is kinda like a security blanket. He doesn't have the cel anymore, but a mini, mobile version of it.
The search is the last album out. The next one will be called lost. And if you did not see, at the begining he was not comming from nowhere, but from the prison of perception, and Outcast

Never seen a guy analyse songs so good, respect dude!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words 🙏
Yes it was a great breakdown
It's one of the things I love and respect about NF. If you stop and think about it to me it is mind blowing right, if you look at it NF has to have had all of this in his head from the start. Imagine the amount of Genius, Vision and Self Belief it would have taken him to Know he had a story worth telling and releasing them as chapters or albums over years. The story is so interwoven that he had to know it before he started.... right? Even though he knew when he started none one else saw his vision or believed in him, he did and stayed Real.
I believe the balloons are also his portable cage( his safe room) because
the big cage from outcast is in the distance. He's on his journey (the search) and at the end he's tired and he retreats to his safe room (the cart) to rest.
Agreed
You really need to interview NF because the way you break down his lyrics is amazing.
Thank you! If anyone knows how I can I would love to, been a lifelong dream of mine to interview artists that I like
As many reactions as I’ve seen for this song I’ve never seen anyone approach the shopping cart like you did. Great analysis! So happy you’re back!!!
Bro it's representing his journey. He's pushing his cart, ballons (burdens) forward. Walking his road , his journey. The sand and rough road is telling you its going to be a struggle, but he's pushing through it. Looks determined!
THIS is the video/song that introduced me to NF when it was first released ... OMG, I'd never seen or heard anything like him before.
Nf has come so far it’s amazing. Got to say he’s definitely my favourite rapper. AltSpace can you please react to lucidious he such a good rapper and in my opinion doesn’t get enough love.
All of NF's music and albums have call backs to each other. You will not be disappointed.
What I love about The Search is the reference to a song that came after this song came out. "Been makin' a whole lot of changes
Wrote a song about that, you should play it" was a line in The Search and Track number 3 on The Search Album was Change (great track btw.) I sat there listening to The Search thinking I want to hear it but it isn't released yet.
It’s funny bc I’ve always only listened to country music like George strait and Garth but this RUclips channel just got me listening to rap now.
(the one always on stage with him and in a few of his music videos)
The cage is a metaphor for his mind, and negative thoughts and how he can't escape them.
He also points toward the balloons when he raps the line "grabbing my keepsakes, leaving my burdens / well I brought a few with me, I'm not perfect *points to the balloons*"
Please note, this is all my own opinion of what these things mean. I might be completely wrong, as NF has not confirmed any theories about those items.
EXCELLENT reaction.. Appreciate the fact that after you pause it, you rewind it just a bit to make sure you don't miss anything.
Thank you so much for watching Tim, I cannot get enough of his music right now, if I'm honest it took a while for me to get into but I listen to his music outside of youtube and reactions now
Welcome back, my guy. Glad you got to see your family, and glad to see you back.
In the background of some shots some people had partial black clothes. To me this indicates that their burdens only encompass part of their life, meanwhile Nate has all black on. The shows how his burdens have overwhelmed him and have put a heavy weight on hi shoulders.
That's a really dope way to look at it!
Always excited when I see a reactor I enjoy hit The Search album. Good to have you back man, hope you enjoyed your time with your family sending my best from Newcastle, england
Thank you for tuning in I appreicte it, it's good to be back and kick it with the Altgang! I hope you are keeping well and safe up north 🙏
Searching for inner peace, which is unattainable.
Nate
“Yeah, you might get a glimpse of happiness from your achievements
But what you'll learn as you get older, every time you reach one
Is you'll just make another goal that doesn't lead to freedom”
You explaining the song to your dog has to be one of the purest things I've ever seen
I always thought the cart was his rap career he would either get to push or would have to drag behind him. But what both of u said really make sense.
The balloons are a symbol of him carrying his burdens
I listen to this song on repeat and rap every line. His music gets me I swear
YOOOOOOO! he finally got around to doing this song, easily one of the best
Definitely one of his best for sure!
I like how in depth you actually analyze music bc so many ppl don't listen to music they just hear it
Leave Me Alone is my one of my favorites, can't wait for you to listen! Nice to have you back, bro!
Cannot wait to listen to this with you guys 🙏
To me the cart is a portable version of his cage from Outcast, for when he needs to lock himself into a safe space.
Top NF songs . . .
Intro , Intro 2 , Intro 3 , Mansion A song about his childhood) , The Search, Why, Let you down, Outcast, How could you leave us (A emotional song about his Mom) Therapy Session, When I grow up( A song about his dreams) Paid my dues, Real, All I have, Time
He's searching for hope. "I'm looking for the map to hope. You seen it?"
Since I started watching your videos and Analytics about NF Songs I start to listen to every single word that he's saying. Before I just likes his musik because it sounded very cool and I understood some storytelling but with your videos it makes that all a whole lot different. Thank you for that!
I've waited for this for ages......
We here now 😉
I just want to put this here, I personally love Nf he has helped me through a lot as I relate to his music like most of his fans do.
Early gangggg!!! This is the one bro.And if you need to take a break for whatever,no rush my guy.
Thank you, I appreciate it! We back to business now so won't be taking a break for a while
First time watcher.
This video was shot in Iceland
Nate's main producer Tommee makes a lot of cinematic songs and sounds for TV and movies, and he has a lot of horror movie / sound libraries, and they hear and take inspiration from those and start trying a lot of things. For example this song was almost over, but they felt was missing something so they took inspiration from Jordan Peele's movie trailer (I'm pretty sure it's Us)
Keep it up man!
I am ROLLING-Dax was just staring at NF on the screen while you were expounding on his excellence🤣🤣🤣
I love your reactions to NF, I've only ever known NF to wear white in one other video and it's a very short clip in REAL when he raps about being a Doctor with no patience/patients. Not sure the significance but he must have a hidden reason behind it. I hope we have a new album soon to make 2021 a better year.
Welcome Back!!! I've been waiting for this one... GREAT reaction to the beat drop too. Can't wait for the next one!!!
A lot of his songs like this talks to his inner demons. He talks in No Name about phoning the devil inside of him. The balloons are black because it is his burdens that he can never escape from. It is really genius that almost everything he does is planned and has a deeper meaning.
It only gets better from here!!!
Your breakdown of his catalog of music 🎶 is a long story! Great job 👏 I love ❤️ NF!
somewhere in the middle he said "Im looking for the map to hope (have you seen it) 👀
👀👀👀👀👀
The Album provides more answers and is well put together I am glad you have arrived, both to reacting and to this point in the album.
Never disappointed of your reations bro! Explanation, quality, visuals, vibes, humble - you quickly became one of my favorite reactors! keep it going 🤍⚡️
The search is going to continue to blow your mind
This album goes CRAZY. Every single song is worth the time and the album itself is a journey. So glad your back missed your reactions!
I honestly cant understand how you dont have more subscribers... Video quality 👌🏻, breakdown 👌🏻, voice 👌🏻, cute doggo 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Appreciate the support bro, this is only the beginning 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Awesome video, love to see you back
Thank you Isaiah I appreciate that man!
Dudeee I'm so excited, almost as much so as when I first listened to this album. It's a masterpiece
So glad your back! I can’t wait to get back to the NF journey and take it with you!!! Thank you for continuing it letting us come on the journey with you 🖤
Yesssss!!! He’s back, the search is insane
Wow, I've seen a lot of analisys of this clip, but I never heard that thing about the shopping cart. This makes so much sense!
I knew I had heard it before, It's from "Only" with Sasha here's the lyrics:
Find a drug and numb it it
til we hit the point
we can barely function
Am I motivated
Is my music dated
Would I be the same
if I was medicated
Even therapists say
I need medication
I avoid it though
because I'm scared to take it.
Man, this is for real...... homie straight up real......spitin life !! 🖤🎸🎶🎶
He's insanely dope!
Welcome back! I am so excited to continue the NF analysis train with you. Keep up the good work
Welcome back, Bro!
My favourite part hands down is him explaining to Dax about therapy session lol
Had to drop that knowledge real quick
Man i have been a huge NF ever since I heard of him a few years back, and your reaction and explanations are incredible, im glad that i found your channel. Keep up a great work 💯
The shopping cart also stands for the cave he is locked in and he walks away from the cave from outcast you can see it in the backround
Glad to have you back my friend! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Nate, that's probably my favorite from this album.
He still feels to need to bring the safety his cell gave him with him
Family is most important! We're all excited you're back bro. I'ma finish this video now.
Ayyy lets goo i love that song ♡♡
U got NF about dialed in, you are a smart individual!
He raised the Bar 💯 just imagine what his album will be like this year.
He's dropping this YEAR??? 👀👀👀👀
Bro I love your reactions, I watched them all when they came out and I still come back to check them even after three years. Definitly the best reaction channel I've even seen. The analysing and true reaction gets me so excited and involved in it. You need to make a comback bro! You have to check out his new album. Even if you've already listened to his new tracks, it would be amazing if you came back and made some new videos of analyzing. We'd love you making a come back! 2024!
