How far back from wall can projector be placed before picture quality is affected

In the keystone correction settings you’re also supposed to have auto screen alignment and obstinate avoidance. I know this cause I had to return my projector it had it but when I get this new and same one back it doesn’t have the settingd

I've had mine 6 months it already overheated and has a burn spot on the screen.
