    That tarp idea from some commenters is a good idea. I have a Shelter Logic "garage" which is built like this Harbor Freight 10x20. I just pick up a cheap tarp at Harbor Freight (especially when they're on sale) and throw it over the top. The tarp takes all the rain, snow and UV damage and after several years I just replace it. So far, the original covering is still in good shape. Oddly, this latest tarp has been on for several years and is still in good shape. If I remember, it was a better quality tarp than the first one I used.

    That canopy will last years longer with an extra layer made from a commercial grade tarp added over the top. I have 3 storage tarp-roofed shacks I cobbled together from discarded canopies, and pallets. Oldest has lasted 7 years so far. If they ever start wearing through, I'll just fit another tarp over them.

    Thank you! I thought I was losing my mind of why I couldn’t get mine together. I got extra number 2s and and a number 1. Hopefully I can make it work. Also like the idea of adding tape to hold it together! Thank you!

    Appreciate this; someone threw one of these away down the street from me and, lacking any numerical markings, I was out back guessing what went where......primarily the shorter (#3) pieces. As hot as it is here in West Palm Beach right now (Heat index is currently 104 Deg.F!!), any time saved by being inside on the computer is appreciated!
    Since no tarp was with the tubing, I will be covering it in corrugated, tinted plastic panels that I trash picked nearly a year ago. Hoping to end up with a reasonably sturdy, semi-permanent structure.
    Thanks Again!!

    I turn my cover upside down , because when pulled over the horizontal bars on the sides , water bags form and the thing comes crashing down, why they don’t make them like their garage shelter , lowered side bars

    • @oldcrackadated
      @oldcrackadated Год назад +1

      By allowing to drape under horizontal bars and go over roof bars , it holds up to quite a bit of weather

      Can you elaborate on how you set it up with details? I'm in the process of getting mine built and I decided to take your word for it and set cover up upside down. I'm unclear on somethings however. So the bungees are exposed on the outside. Is that how you have it?

    How has it held up long term? I have the 12x12 ozark trail one and it got killed in heavy rain. Also concidering the fitting kits that use chain link tubing

    • @tubejim101
      @tubejim101  2 года назад

      They hold up well. If the tarp has any slack in it, rain will collect. Water is very heavy and can bend the poles. I have been thinking of going to a muffler shop, and see if they can make replacement poles.

    • @jstmag
      @jstmag 2 года назад +3

      @@tubejim101 i got a nice fitting kit from amazon that lets you use standard size chain link fence tubes, then went to tractor supply and got the thicker walled field fence tubes to use. I gotta say for what it cost i'm very pleased with it. I'll build a real garage eventually but for now this works great. I put furrring strips across the top and used standard metal roofing panels and used those concrete anchor blocks on the legs, should last quite some time.
