I tack welded all the joints on mine. Then on the underside of each joint drilled a small hole and sprayed in expandable foam. So, not only are all the joints now solid, they are also water proof as well. Anchored all the legs and added 1"X 3" welded wire over the entire top then draped over the tarp. The wire keeps the water from collecting along the sides. Thanks for the video. I saw where somebody (without mute capability apparently) complained about the music. So, when I get my second one tomorrow, I'll be adding in some Benny Hill jams to my youtube production...........
Where's your video?
It's amazing you did this in 6 minutes real time.
I used self tapping screw on the frame for the 10'x17' portable garage version of this, it worked great keeping the poles together while assembling by myself and it made it more solid in the wind gusts.
I ended up doing the same thing and it last us a few years! Worth it!
gonna pick one up today! i like that the sides are looped so rain doesnt get trapped and I can funnel it into barrels for our shops use!
This video helped me put one of these together today 👍🏻 better to watch it being built then just try to do it with directions.... thanks
Glad it helped!
Thanks for posting this. Answered all my questions before purchasing.
Do you know how much I LOVE YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!! THANK YOU!!! Subscribed!
Thanks for subbing!
EXCELLENT demonstration - thanx!
Hey SalerPaul, thanks for the comment. I'll be using this comment during my live stream tonight at 7 pm EST, Episode 27. Hopefully you can make it.
I added extra roof support by cutting some metal electrical conduit flattening and bending the ends to hook over the frame. I put two extras in each bay. Just extra ribs. It needs it
Watching this guy hustle around to put it together reminded me of watching old time big league baseball games where they run wayyy faster than the players of today.
Babe Ruth and them would zip around those bases like nobody's business
Should've filmed in black and white!
Thanks for posting this.
Thank you for the video! Gonna pick one up now
It's totally worth it!
yeah, and don't forget to tie yourself to it so that you can enjoy some parasailing in the next high wind! just speaking from experience with their portable garage. i followed their instructions and even including some tips i found at ytube and other locations and still had problems with moderate wind gusts late last fall. had to return it. hope you have better success with this than i did.
put some scrape 3/4 plywood 12x 12 16 x16 etc under the post pads and screw to the plywood then weight the plywood down with sand bags or plastic pails with gravel , that will take care of lite winds if blowing 40 -50 take down the canvass the nite before it blows lol!
mrnovacan great idea! Thanks
Awesome idea now I know what I'm going to do.
Thank you, you helped me with this headache.
What happens to the canopy if a thunderstorm with high wind gusts come through .
I plan on having this in my front yard, would you recommend setting the poles a foot and half deep into the ground and pour concrete to give them a stable footing?
What material are the poles? Plastic or metal type. Thinking of making it a mini garage by drilling some thin sheets of corrugated galvanized steel
They are metal, I used self-tappers to screw everything together on mine.
Like to figure out how to raise this to cover a camper.
I'm sure some round stock, iron pipe, PVC, or conduit could be rigged to work out! Good project!
Does this come apart easily? I'm using it for shade to organize things for a big yard sale.
What exactly is the point of doing this with the time lapse to help people put it together lol
Any suggestions on how to anchor the canopy in ground ?
i ve seen 5 gallon pails with sand
How has it held up over time?
I only need this to be 10ft long, would the pieces allow me to construct only half this canopy and still fit together? I was also thinking instead of cutting the fabric in half as well i would just drape it over sideways that way it would have walls as well.
You can do only half, but wouldn't be ten feet.
Buy a 10x10 canopy.
How long does it actually take to assemble
How long does it take you to drop a deuce? This is all dependent on your experience and willpower
Thanks for the video. I was wondering about the difficulty to take down the tarp once built?
We live in the high desert where I'd love some extra shade but we also get high winds regularly (30+ mph). Is it simple to release the elastic bands and drop the tarp while leaving the frame standing?
That would be the only thing holding me back
Yes if you work with the wind but to put it back on while about 8 foot high while a lil difficult but more over you'll be putting a lot of strain on the frames legs while you pull the tarp to to put on your eye loops and stretching it out.
you in 505 ?
Are the elastic bands removable? Looking to get one for detailing
The elastic bands are there to hold the tarp in place. They are removable, but doing so would allow the tarp to come off.
Are the legs single pieces? I'm wondering if I can make it shorter
The legs are two pieces.
How much tent 10x20
Had any ine ever had the tarp not fit ?
Handling of wind?
bet the neighbors loved having that in the driveway...lol
neighbors are just jelly really
They can go fuck them selfs
How much did have store here in the philippine
How long did it last?
It did pretty good for a number of years. I had it setup full-time at my property in upstate New York after making this video and it was great for shade over a picnic table.
How does it do in the wind
You need to anchor it real good.
You will find it ontop of your neighboors house on a good windy day .
What number are the ones on the top too build the frame??
Exactly, it is like the directions are halfway done, if that.
you can buy the 10' version
I bought one of these bad boys on sale a year ago and haven't set it up because ive been lazily worried about the breakdown effort. I live in one of thoes fancy tiny towns that tickets their tax paying citizens for leaving such inoffensive skin cancer blockers standing. Even when the tent and the property its standing on is owned legally and outright by said taxpayer!! (Translation: get off my lawn, you dirty government!)
Im guessing tear down is easier than assembly? Input from anyone?
about how long does it take
An hour or so. It would go faster with two people.
staking? I just put mine up and in the morning it blew over my neighbor's garage and bent.....
Staking would be a good idea. I took the carport to my second property and it eventually blew over in the middle of the night. I ended up concreted each leg into a 5 gallon bucket. I also used ratchet straps from one end to the other on each side to pull the whole frame together. Hasn't budged yet since doing those two things.
Ok now I see you said it's easy to put together and everything is even numbered and I'm sure that is a huge advantage BUT how many times did this guy get to practice to do it as fast as he did as c'mon..like the E-Z Up brand and those alike..they aren't as easy as they say and especially with only 1 person..forgetaboutit...
Yeah, I did it alone. There were times when having a second person would've helped, but I just kept connecting poles and standing things up. Eventually I got it.
How do you anchor it to the ground?
Mine came with ground anchors. There are plenty of methods to anchor to concrete and dirt.
I used 18 in corkscrew type for tethering medium to large dogs. Then para cord to secure the frame to the tether.
How does it hold up with winds ?
It does much better if it's anchored down.
@@GettinJunkDone 😂 I know that , I'm wondering if if the materials are good enough to sustain winds
is it fire resistant
Not at all.
❤V
My pieces are very different than yours
Wasted video
HDH7You. Should dumpster. Dive. The Harbor Freight that. Exchanged. The tarp. There is a good. Chance. They took it out of another. One. And threw away. All the parts. ? It would be good. Replacement. Parts. If you ever needed. Them in the future. Like all the pipes and fittings. ? HF. Usually. Throws. That type of stuff in their Dumpsters. Instead of. Keeping. It. ? Heck you may be able to. Buy a replacement. Tarp. From the. Manufacturer. And. Get. A second. One cheaper. ?
what????????????????????
You have. A. Strange way. Of Typing. Your message.
Music is absolutely horrible. I really dont know why people do this over and over again. Just because you might like it doesnt mean everyone else wants to hear it. It ruins the video.
It ruins the video for you...other people seem to like it just fine, not everyone, but there are plenty that do. I appreciate the view and the comment, but RUclips is a big place...plenty other videos for you to watch.
Maybe make your own and show me how its done?
Have a great day!
You do have the options of muting the video or turning it down or just not watch the video at all.
Just like when he was trying to put it over the truck. I just fast forward through the stupid part. And at the end where it showed his hooks for the end rope. He obviously didn't read the directions. Cause your suppose to hook the hooks and twist the legs to tighten them by wrapping the rope around the legs. Not pull the extra rope through the hooks and tie a knot. If someone is going to make a video they could at least do it right so everyone can see how its suppose to be done and not just half ass it and say well this will work I don't care how the manufacturer says to do it.
If only they invented some way of muting the volume
