Good job. The wife and I are looking to do something similar but will be starting from a bare 24' deck-boat. Plan is to build a Solar/Hybrid powered boat with two 100lb trolling motors instead of an outboard.
have really enjoyed your and your family's efforts in the construction of your shanty boat, you are a true craftsman, and your effort are displayed as such. living the dream doing it right .
Enjoyed your slow motion strength / quality control testing, a lot of people don't include that in their videos. Testing before going out on the water is very important.
Thank you Thomas you know it wasn't planned but it worked out pretty good thanks for the comment hope you have subscribed stay tuned I have a lot more videos coming up
What did you make the walls out of? Are they waterproof? The ceiling looks really light weight, that will help a lot with your center of gravity. Did you use 2x4 for the walls? I have so many questions... I'm excited to see you having a shanty boat.
the walls are made with 2x 3 and a real light weight ply board I painted the out side with oil paint so the water would run off been holding up pretty well in the next couple of video's I will be showing and explaining how I built it and what I used. the roof is very light weight I made it in a way I can remove it by myself the idea you had with the linoleum is a great Idea I will be leaving Sept. 16th from Hannibal, MO
I've read about putting a cabin on pontoons. I'm leaning heavily towards using a barge hull. If you have people aboard, too many of them on one side can overload the ability of a pontoon to float. It can sink and the whole kit and caboodle can flip upside down. Be careful on the water.
Awesome video Dad! You crack me up with your slow motion hand gestures! You should put that in the video description. "Crazy wind while working on my boat" might attract more viewers.
I am interested in a similar project . Where did you find the base pontoon boat/platform ? I have not been able to find anything that does not already have furniture built on it. I would like to have a triple pontoon boat less than 30 feet long - can not be more than 8 feet 6 inches wide with a completely empty deck. Your boat still has the OEM side rails and what looks like extra fiber glass weight. Did you use that existing fiberglass enclosure/structure to provide stability and support for your walls?
Hello Diane yes you are correct there is a 2x4 in the middle of the shanty boat and the reason for it was yes to hold up the roof the full length which was around 16 ft long I put a 2x4 the full length 16 ft and then a 2x4 right in the middle not sure if I needed it but it was a good place to hang stuff and I felt better about the roof
TheLastSpartan04 thanks and your right I fill like I am running out of time and I am thinking like you I should have made it smaller so I could have had more deck space but anyhow I am leaving weather it is done or not I will work on it the whole trip down.
Cool build!
Thank you
Beautiful work!
Just great! Love it.
Looking good !!! Looking forward to seeing the next phase...
Great project - you’ve got me planning something similar in the UK now
This is a nice house boat. I think you've done a good job. I would like to see how you did the floor.

Bravo21 I’ve been planning out something similar, how much power will you need to power those 100# trolling motors?
Looks like a great project. Look forward to the next video.

thank you so much stay tuned for more video's
I love it brother. A great start, if anything else.
Awesome job thanks
Good idea making a houseboat like that. Gonna be neat.

Awesome job
Would you sell the boat or make a nother one if so how much ?
Question: I noticed a 2 by 4 post in the center of the living space. Is this necessary to support the weight of the roof? Plz advise. Thx.

That's a very good job
Thanks Hillbilly stay tuned I got big plans for my next build
Looks like fun!!!
It was fun and scary but I am going to do it again
I really like your project and it's looking but I did not see any more construction before you took the maiden voyage
Nice job so far boss, you need to get this finished up though, summers almost over, also should’ve left more uncovered deck space

How much additional weight is being applied to your boat trailor?
2,000 lbs More than it should have been but handled it well.
Wow, the wind wasn't nice to you at all that day!
